  • We sat down with our CEO Ben Doolan to chat about his upcoming Hawaiian Ride for Youth across 700kms in 4.5 days from Albany to Perth, raising funds to support young people with mental health challenges.🚴♂️ Let's get behind him and help show our support for such an incredible cause 🙌 Donate: https://lnkd.in/gPVsBuCe 𝐖𝐡𝐲 𝐝𝐢𝐝 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐜𝐡𝐨𝐨𝐬𝐞 𝐑𝐢𝐝𝐞 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐘𝐨𝐮𝐭𝐡? Friends approached me in 2013 to do the RFY. It was a great cause and we have some family history of Youth Mental Health issues. 𝐇𝐨𝐰 𝐦𝐚𝐧𝐲 𝐲𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐬 𝐡𝐚𝐯𝐞 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐢𝐩𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐝? This is my 7th ride and I have done 2 rides as a support crew volunteer. 𝐖𝐡𝐨 𝐢𝐬 𝐢𝐧 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐭𝐞𝐚𝐦? Scott Bailey (wife works for Buswest), Ross Kyrwood and Brett Willis. 𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐦𝐨𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐬 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐭𝐨 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐮𝐞 𝐭𝐨 𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐢𝐩𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐲𝐞𝐚𝐫 𝐚𝐟𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐲𝐞𝐚𝐫? I love the camaraderie and spirit of the people. Most riders have a reason for the ride (sick/troubled kids, siblings friends etc) and we all come together, it also keeps me fit and focused. 𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭'𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐦𝐨𝐬𝐭 𝐦𝐞𝐦𝐨𝐫𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐞 𝐞𝐱𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐨𝐧𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐫𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐬? Riding through the WA countryside gives you an enormous perspective. Even though you are riding for 6-7 hours plus a day, you get time to really reflect. 𝐇𝐨𝐰 𝐝𝐨 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐩𝐫𝐞𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐛𝐨𝐭𝐡 𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐲 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐩𝐡𝐲𝐬𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐲 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐚 𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐫𝐢𝐝𝐞? Doing the training program designed by RFY gets you ready. If I am not travelling for work, I try and attend every session. 𝐈𝐧 𝐰𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐰𝐚𝐲𝐬 𝐝𝐨 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐞𝐧𝐠𝐚𝐠𝐞 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐭𝐨 𝐫𝐚𝐢𝐬𝐞 𝐚𝐰𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐬𝐮𝐩𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐑𝐢𝐝𝐞 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐘𝐨𝐮𝐭𝐡?Through the fundraising, you seem to have plenty of opportunities to tell a story about Youth Mental Health. Youth Focus has an amazing rate of keeping kids alive if they seek out their services, we just have to get kids to seek help and raising awareness is crucial. 𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐚𝐝𝐯𝐢𝐜𝐞 𝐰𝐨𝐮𝐥𝐝 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐠𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐭𝐨 𝐬𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐨𝐧𝐞 𝐰𝐡𝐨 𝐢𝐬 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐢𝐩𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐢𝐧 𝐚 𝐑𝟒𝐘 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐟𝐢𝐫𝐬𝐭 𝐭𝐢𝐦𝐞? Go for it, over 750 riders have done it over 23 years and nobody regrets it. Most people do it at least twice – it is such a rewarding performance. Hawaiian Ride for Youth Youth Focus #RideForYouth #YouthFocusWA #Buswest #ATG #AustralianTransitGroup

  • It brings us immense joy to spotlight Julie, our exceptional and longest-standing female employee. Since joining in 1988, she embarked on this ATG adventure after obtaining her HR license and has been an integral part of our Buswest Mandurah team ever since. Julie's dedication has taken her through various roles within the company, from enjoying charter work to her current role as a school bus driver. The evolution of Mandurah Bus Charters has been significant during her tenure, marked by changes in management, workshop staff, and fellow drivers/aides. Yet, Julie embraces these transformations as progress—a testament to her positive outlook. In a profession where consistency is a rarity, Julie stands out as a beacon of loyalty. She has witnessed colleagues come and go, some exploring "greener pastures," but many finding their way back through our front door. The question of retirement arises, but Julie remains content and passionate about her role as a driver and health & safety representative. Julie also champions the remarkable contributions of women bus drivers, emphasising the unique ability to connect with passengers and clients. She has experienced equality in treatment and found senior staff to be approachable. Julie acknowledges the privilege of working with knowledgeable and supportive Operation Managers, forming a cohesive team with dedicated drivers at the "coal face." Of the 21 current staff members at Buswest Mandurah celebrating a decade or more of service, an impressive 16 are women—a testament to the fulfilling and accommodating nature of our profession for women. Cheers to Julie and all our long-serving team members for their commitment, passion, and invaluable contributions to the success of Buswest. Happy International Women's Day. #EmployeeSpotlight #Dedication #IWD #InternationalWomenDay #TeamSpirit #MandurahBusCharters #BuswestMandurah #LongevityInService
