Our friend and colleague is memorialized. We at ASSURE look forward to our meetings at the University of Vermont and our "fun run" 5K in memory of Jarlath, and his many contributions to us professionally, personally, and spiritually 1-3 October. Jarlath, you are larger than life and have made everyone who "experienced" you so much better. We miss you!
On Friday September 13, 2024, the Rubenstein School hosted an intimate gathering at the George D. Aiken Center to honor Jarlath O’Neil-Dunne, who passed away on January 6, 2024. The gathering was a ceremonial unveiling of two stands of Paper birch trees that frame the first-floor entrance to the Aiken Center, along with a memorial plaque that marks Jarlath’s legacy at UVM. Members of Jarlath’s family, his team at the Spatial Analysis Lab, his colleagues and students in the Rubenstein School, and his friends and partners from across UVM and beyond were in attendance.

It is with great sadness that we announce that ASSURE has lost one of our own. Last weekend, Jarlath O’Neil Dunn, Director of the Spatial Analysis Laboratory at the University of Vermont suffered what appears to be a massive cardiac event while doing what he loved, Nordic cross-country skiing with friends, in a place that he loved, the mountains of Vermont. His jovial personality, work ethic, love for life, everyone, and everything in it will be sorely missed and will leave a large void for all who knew him. Services will be held by the family and the University of Vermont community on Saturday, January 20 at 10:30 am at the Ira Allen Chapel, University of Vermont followed by a reception at the Livak Ballroom in the Dudley H. Davis Center on campus. Details for donations in lieu of flowers will be provided later at the memorial service. Please keep his family, friends, and colleagues in your thoughts and prayers. He leaves his wife, three children, his mother, and three siblings. He is missed.
