The prevalence of severe obesity has more than doubled in the past decade, placing increased demands on hospitals and staff to safely mobilize these individuals. In a recent case study, we explore how an 800-pound patient progressed from dependent (admission) to independent (discharge) using a range of specialized equipment, including a 48” wide bed, ceiling lift, bariatric stretcher chair and more. This equipment played a crucial role in the patient’s recovery and kept hospital staff safe throughout the entire process. Read the full case study for more details on how hospitals can safely mobilize individuals of size. 👉 https://lnkd.in/gdTGXk4m #PatientCare #BariatricCare #HospitalSafety #ObesityCare #MedicalEquipment

Almost every patient will lay on a foam support surface at some point during their hospital stay. Even though these surfaces are cleaned after each patient use, it's not common for hospitals to look beneath the top cover to check the condition of the support surface itself. And though foam support surfaces are expected to last up to five years, many degrade faster than anticipated, leading to potential safety concerns like fluid ingress from small tears. Our latest case study, "Unique Support Surface Construction Materials Influence Fluid Ingress, Longevity and Return on Investment," explores this issue and highlights how construction and materials can impact patient safety and durability. Take a closer look at what's beneath the surface, and when you're ready, reach out to discuss auditing your foam support surfaces. 👉 https://lnkd.in/gzegBg_t #SupportSurfaces #PatientSafety #HospitalCare
