Fan Parks and "Les Ateliers du Tour"

Two spaces dedicated to the Tour de France will open their doors in Florence and Nice in June and July, to the delight of fans of the biggest cycling race on Earth. Free admission.

The Tour de France is teaming up with the host towns and cities and its partners to set up 2 Fan Parks and Ateliers du Tour to bring a unique experience to Grande Boucle enthusiasts. The Fan Park in Florence (Piazza Di Santa Croce) will roll out the red carpet for visitors from Thursday, 27 June to Saturday, 29 June to savour the Grand Départ to the fullest. Tour lovers will then converge on Nice  (Jardin Albert 1er) on Friday, 19 July, to Sunday, 21 July.
On the programme: live stream of the stages on a giant screen, samplings of local specialities, learn-to-ride tracks for children (Savoir Rouler à Vélo and pump track), road safety awareness workshops, introduction to repairs, BMX shows etc. Tour de France fans can also put their knowledge of the Tour to the test with dedicated quizzes. And, with loads of Grande Boucle goodies, no-one will go home empty-handed.
The Ateliers du Tour, an educational space, are ready to welcome budding cyclists and guide them in their first pedal strokes. An initiation area helps them master the basics of cycling and ace Block 1 of the Savoir Rouler à Vélo programme led by coaches from the French Cycling Federation, while a workshop teaches them handy maintenance tricks. Taking care of a bicycle also means keeping it safe: a stand gives out smart tips on how to secure it properly. The focus is also on safety, from equipment (helmets, vests, etc.) and traffic rules to advice on how to use a bicycle on a day-to-day basis.
