Constantia Flexibles has been awarded for its product, EcoPeelCover, a thinned lidding solution for PP cup materials specifically tailored for the dairy sector. This award underscores the company’s commitment to innovative packaging, sustainability, and excellence. The EcoPeelCover was produced for Privatmolkerei Bauer GmbH & Co KG, demonstrating the company's dedication to creating more sustainable solutions for its customers.
EcoPeelCover is designed to be as thin as possible while maintaining the high standards of mechanical properties found in standard die-cut lids. It significantly enhances material and energy efficiency by reducing aluminum thickness to 25µm and extrusion coating to 13 grams/m²—down from the previous 38µm thickness and 24 grams/m² coating layer. This represents a 25% reduction in aluminum thickness and a 50% reduction in coating layer. Despite its reduced thickness, EcoPeelCover matches standard die-cut lids in puncture resistance, corrosion resistance, and peelability. It provides optimal protection against water vapor and oxygen, making it an excellent barrier for preserving the quality of dairy products.
The German Packaging Award, organized annually by the German Packaging Institute (DVI), honors innovative and creative packaging solutions in a variety of categories, including sustainability, design, and functionality. Open to designers, manufacturers, and young talent, the award is judged by an independent jury and presented this September at the FACHPACK trade fair in Nuremberg.
