This Month, We Celebrate:
Hispanic Heritage Month
September 15th through October 15th marks National Hispanic Heritage Month. It is a time to honor and recognize Hispanic and Latino Americans and their many diverse contributions to making our region a better place to live. Initially observed as Hispanic Heritage Week in 1968 and expanded to National Hispanic Heritage Month in 1988, Hispanic history in Western Washington reaches back much further, to some of the earliest cartographers who mapped the Pacific Northwest. Join us in celebrating Hispanic and Latino Americans and their positive impacts on our community through art, food, film, literature, music, architecture, industry, and much more. You can celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month locally by supporting Hispanic and Latino - owned businesses and non-profits, attending festivals, or by learning more about the history and many cultures that make up Hispanic Heritage.
