Ranji Sinha joined KIRO 7 in August 2017 and has spent several years covering the Pacific Northwest for KIRO 7’s evening and morning newscasts. 7 Questions With Ranji: 1. Where did you grow up? I grew up in Long Island in a town called Syosset on the North Shore about 30-40 miles from Manhattan, NYC 2. Why did you become a journalist? I wanted to be different, felt like I had a knack for writing and an interest in news and when I was growing up there were no Indians on TV News so I hoped to be one of the first. 3. What cities have you worked in during your journalism career? New York City, Boston, Prague, Paris, Charlottesville, VA – Plattsburgh, NY – Kalamazoon, MI – New Jersey – Seattle 4. What’s the most memorable story you’ve ever covered? A customs strike on the US Canadian border by border workers that snarled traffic in and out of Canada for days and creating huge miles-long backups at the border – Superstorm Sandy & Hurricane Irene, Several train derailments, BridgeGate, Michigan Oil Spill 5. What are you most proud of in your career in news? The ability to deliver breaking news fast to the public as it is happening whether it’s a fire a storm or something else 6. What’s something people don’t know about you? That I bead and make jewelry and have dabbled a bit in acting 7. What do you like to do when you’re not working? I love hanging out with my family watching TV and Films – I like to run and exercise and love sports too.
