A new merchant at Electric Works is set to open this week.

Initially announced in 2021, Chapman’s Brewing Co. will celebrate its grand opening Friday.

The Electric Works location will be the brand’s flagship brewery with more than 15,000 square feet and a private event space. There will be 24 beer tap handles, and a full menu offering food, cider and wine.

The brewery will be open Tuesday through Sunday.

Chapman’s first began brewing beer more than 10 years ago and opened its first taproom in Angola. The brewery also has taprooms in Columbia City and at Fort Wayne International Airport.

Lenten menus

With the Lenten season in full swing, area restaurants are offering special seafood menus.

Ruth’s Chris Steak House’s Fort Wayne location will be offering specialty seafood items and introducing limited-time dishes.

This week, the downtown restaurant will be offering Chilean sea bass. From March 11 to 17, the menu will include halibut with garlic crust. Tomato basil grouper will be the specialty menu item from March 18 to 24. And from March 25 to 30, guests can order scallops with lobster sauce.

Smokey Bones launched menu additions for Lent, including a barbecue shrimp appetizer, shrimp and grits and fire-grilled salmon.

At Lee’s Famous Recipe Chicken, fish and chips are on the menu for a limited time. This fan-favorite dish features 6 ounces of famous fish, which is served with tartar sauce, potato wedges and a regular drink.

Back to Moo-Over

Moo-Over will once again be visited by America’s Best Restaurant on Thursday, which is also International Plant Power Day.

The shop will highlight various items from its plant-based, dairy-free, sugar-free and gluten-free menu items including a variety of ice crème flavors, sundaes, shakes, brownies, cookies and pies.

The video shoot will run from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m., and the public is invited to attend.

America’s Best Restaurants focuses on small, unique restaurants with the goal of increasing top-of-mind awareness for those businesses and ultimately helping them grow. Moo-Over was originally featured on ABR’s streaming pages in July.

More events are planned for the community at Moo-Over. On March 23, Moo-Over will hold a Kids Blind Taste Testing Event at the restaurant. From 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., kids are invited to participate and sample five new ice cream flavors. The one to guess all five flavors correctly gets to name a new flavor that will be sold at the shop.

Those interested should go to Moo-Over’s Facebook page.

On the same day, there will be Easter cookie decorating from 1 to 8 p.m. There is a fee to participate in these events.

Moo-Over is a plant-based, sugar-free, dairy-free restaurant at 207 W. Van Buren St., Columbia City. It opened in 2020 and has become a dessert destination for those with food allergies and sensitivities.
