Who should we write history about? Traditionally, history was the preserve of kings and queens, presidents and prime ministers, elder statesmen, religious leaders, and other such powerful figures.
Over the last century, some historians have increasingly challenged this approach, with people’s history approaches focusing on the lives of ordinary people and broader social trends rather than telling tales about ‘great men’ (and just sometimes, great women).
