Roswell: 285 South (1999)
My favorite episode!
Of all the Roswell episodes I've seen (all of seasons one and two, I'm about to begin season three) this is my personal favorite. Michael figures out where the geodesic dome from his dreams is, in Marathon Texas, so he begins a trip to Marathon by stealing Maria's car... with Maria in it. Liz, Max, and Isabel all hop in the jeep to go after the two. Pretty soon, you guessed it, the Valenti's get involved, chasing Maria and Michael down 285 South, the interstate for which the episode is named. A complicated, plot advancing, and all-in-all very heartfelt episode with lots of tension and character development, I highly recommend 285 South, as well as the series Roswell as a whole.
Devour (2005)
I liked it for what it was, solid B+
When I checked out "Devour" from the video store, it was because my mom was out of town and my dad and I wanted to have a fun creepy movie night. The characters where a little clichéd, but that's to be expected at this point. Though many people disagree with me, I quite liked the ending. I thought it was a major and unexpected twist, and made you ask if it really was all in his sick mind. The one thing that really got to me was, though I truly enjoy horror films, I don't like excessive gore. This movie had a few scenes of truly grotesque stuff that was mostly for a scare and I didn't particularly need to see. While it did make sense within the plot (unlike many horror films where they add gore simply for a cheap scream) it was a little too graphic for my taste. If you like this sort of thing, however, you will probably enjoy this movie. The acting was quite decent, and I'm incredibly tough on actors. Jensen Ackles has a lot of talent, and I quite like his new show "Supernatural", which I recommend to those who, like me, like horror without gore. While Devour wasn't the best movie ever, it was certainly better than the endless sequels and cheesy horror flicks, "Ring 2", "Resident Evil", and anything made by M. Night Shyamalan.
