Arjun Patiala (2019)
A step in the right direction but Indian audience will never change...
First of all it's not a legit movie , it's a spoof movie. People need to understand that. It's not a perfect movie by a long shot but is still enjoyble. Makes it to the list of your guilty pleasures. Acting was great, I loved the whole cast especially diljeet, Varun and Zeeshan. Biswapati Sarkar too was great as always. Script had a great potential but the major problem I had with the movie was that a big chunk of the movie was deviated from where it initially started and was feeling like a legit movie. Hollywood has produced some great spoof movies and the thing that made them great was not one scene felt like it was a legit movie. In this, the start was solid, you knew what kind of movie this is going to be, but then somewhere in the middle it lost it's track. It started taking itself seriously. This continued for around 40 min till the climax part which is btw, the best part of the movie. There they knew what they were making. It's genuinely hilarious. The whole movie should've been that way. One more criticism is that the songs especially the sunny leone one, should've been like fast forwarded animation or something. They were making fun of the generic bollywood crap but they themselves got caught in the trap. Overall a step in the right direction.
Flames (2018)
Flawless..!
I don't know if I've seen any other series or movie soo relatable and flawless like this. This coming of age story is a different experience . A pure gem. I'll not be saying anything else about this cause I'm spellbound . Just finished season 2 and I'm short of words cause I'm not able to think anything else but only the scenes which will remain with me for my entire life cause I've lived them and seeing it from the director's perspective made me feel like I'm Rajat. A bow to Apoorva Singh Karki and Sameer Saxena for creating such a lovely content.
RangiTaranga (2015)
An excellent story ruined by mediocre set pieces and poor editing and direction
Rangitaranga was a lukewarm experience. The movie's script soo strong you can't get away without watching the whole but The editing and Direction soo weak that you can't stop yourself from rolling your eyes of. I understand the budget constraints of the regional cinema but we've seen so much well made films which are technically and materialistically brilliant on low budgets but this one simply can't be one of them. There were moments it frightened me and there were moments I was intrigued but the screenplay made it a bit predictable or rather the choppiness of the film did that. I wasn't sure what was the factor. The underline of this review is that , it's a one time watch but don't keep any high expectations
Bohemian Rhapsody (2018)
Average take on a legendry legacy. +1 for Rami Malik
Rami Malik and the tracks are the only things that make the movie a one time watch
Dhadak (2018)
Very poor direction , hurried and trashy screenplay , only saved by good performances by the lead. Insulting the classic Marathi film Sairat.
I was initially in no mood of watching Dhadak since I was so in love with the original one and another reason was the direction and the production house. I knew I was digging into something which will be of on worth compared to Sairat. But the only thing which makes this mess watchable is the fresh pair: Ishaan and Jahnvi. They both've acted good in the movie especially Ishaan . He was brilliant just like his debut movie into the clouds and we can say Jahnvi was decent in serious situation although some of them were so rushed which just destroyed the essence of the scene from the original one or had no so essence. Just pale 1-D direction .And she was easy on eyes on lighter moments. Coming to the screenplay and direction both are very bad. I'm surprised that why Shashank Khaitan is even handed projects and something like the remake of an iconic movie... Why God why. The direction is not simply poor . There's nothing to talk about it and screenplay .. omg he just insulted the original one by changing some of the parts of it and making it too rushed , choppy and flat.. ughhh!!! Why ?? The supporting cast is not at all used well. The friends which played a major role in Sairat , they are reduced to just comical figures and side-kicked stalkers. Nothing else to talk about them. Summing this up , this movie is nothing like Sairat . Another Easily forgettable flick by Bollywood and a trashy remake only made watchable by the lead pair.
