Dare Me (2019)
Terrible!
Where do I start?! The looks, the pauses, the awful acting, the cliches... this type of show may have been able to cut it in the 90's and with teenagers that aspire to be mean girls but there are so many better options to watch.
This was recommended to me on Netflix but I can totally see why it was cancelled after a season. I can barely make it through the second episode to check that the first episode was a once off at being bad. It is not and if anything, it just gets worse and boring. The writing and acting is absolutely shocking and each scene is full of cliches and stereotypes for teenagers, cheerleaders and small towns.
They could have found actors that looked like teenagers but they probably didn't want to be attached to this garbage.
Don't waste your time on this one!
Dear Evan Hansen (2021)
For those of us that can't say "I saw it on Broadway"
I LOVED every second of this movie including Ben playing a teen as a 30 year old. It would not have been the same without him.
Hold your opinion until you have watched it.
Schmigadoon! (2021)
Smiles from start to end!
My face hurts from smiling as I watch this show. So much time and effort has been put into every aspect from the characters, songs, costumes etc. I am sad that it is such a short season and it is almost over!
The White Lotus (2021)
Genius!
I don't know what is happening and I love it. I would watch for the opening credits and the music alone but the talent and acting is also brilliant.
Rated 9 stars for now but may revise to 10 once I complete the season.
High Fidelity (2020)
Must Watch
If any show deserves a second season, it is this one. I can't believe it was cancelled. The characters and music were perfect. This one is going to stick with me.
Call Me Kat (2021)
Enjoyable
I'm probably in the minority, but I found this much easier to watch than Miranda which is quite vulgar (fart jokes and references to the female lead character cross dressing for the 3 episodes I managed to get through) with the added eye candy of Tom Ellis.
I enjoyed this cast and I'm glad they got a second season.
My Mad Fat Diary (2013)
Brilliant!
I am late to the MMFD party but so glad I am here. I watched it a week ago and it is still with me. The music and clothes (plus the mention of CK One) took me back to my final years of high school which was around the same time. Can't recommend this show enough.
This Way Up (2019)
Bring on season 2
Found this by chance after watching My Mad Fat Diary recently and this was recommended. Loved every second of it and devoured it in a few hours. I was so happy to see that it had been renewed for a second season.
Little (2019)
Lots of fun
I really enjoyed this! Nothing mind blowing but good, funny and lighthearted. Issa Rae and Marsai Martin are wonderful in their roles.
Bridgerton (2020)
Brilliant!
I hadn't heard of the books but added this to my list when I saw it was produced by Shonda. Julie Andrews as the narrator, beautiful sets, clothes and photography plus modern songs by string quartets. Why can't people take shows for what they are - absolutely exquisite escapism?! Loved every second of this!
The Flight Attendant (2020)
SO GOOD
There is one episode left and I can't wait. What a ride!!! Hopefully there will be a season 2 because I can't get enough of this cast.
Shoutout to the animators that did the opening title sequence and also the music team. Brilliant!
The Undoing (2020)
Gripping!
I could not stop watching. Absolutely beautiful cinematography of New York. Nicole was amazing in her role.
Emily in Paris (2020)
A fun escape to Paris
Very cute and easy to watch. I really enjoyed this after initially seeing it on Netflix and reading a few nasty reviews and thinking I wouldn't make it through an episode. It may be cliche but casting is great, the fashion is absolutely wonderful and then there is Paris captured as I remember it.
Little Fires Everywhere (2020)
Watch the whole thing... then review.
It is a slow burn (hah!) but so so good. Kerry (I don't understand the Kerry hate on here - she was brilliant and PLAYING A CHARACTER) and Reese are absolutely amazing in their roles but the younger actors are what made this show for me.
I wish there was a second season on the way to see what happens from here but it seems that is all we get from this limited series.
New Girl (2011)
Very funny!
I watched this show originally in my early 30s and loved it but it is even better in my late 30s. The first 4 seasons were fantastic with some moments where I almost hurt myself laughing. Unfortunately, it did waiver and the final season should not have been made. Zooey and Jake may be the leads but Max with his character of Schmidt steals the show.
The Morning Show (2019)
Binge worthy!
Wow. No words. If the actors and content don't pull you in then the music and cinematography will. Can't wait to see the next season!
If you like this, also watch The Newsroom.
Ted Lasso (2020)
Delightful!
Wow. Jason is a delight leading this cast that I have not really seen in anything else but who all perform brilliantly. You'll laugh and cry from the first scene. Watch this show!
Space Force (2020)
Topical and funny
So easy to binge in a day. Carell steals the show but the rest of the cast is brilliant. As an Australian that laughs at America being run into the ground by an reality tv show host this was very well done at making fun of him but not naming him. Hoping for a season 2!!
Ben Platt Live from Radio City Music Hall (2020)
Amazing!
Every single song was magic and I almost felt like I was there. Ben has a beautiful soul that shines through the entire concert. I'm going to be watching this again and again.
Schitt$ Creek (2015)
Must Watch!
I am sad that this little gem of a show is coming to an end. I have laughed and cried my way through 5 seasons and I will no doubt do the same for Season 6.
Brooklyn Nine-Nine (2013)
Hilarious!
So glad I finally gave this show a chance. I am currently binging and laughing my way through it. Some of the best comedy and characters I have ever seen. Love it!
Santa Girl (2019)
Terrible
I am usually willing to accept a certain amount of cheese, especially in a Christmas movie, but this was awful. The acting was shocking.
Virgin River (2019)
I preferred Bluebell!
So this is Hart of Dixie with a nurse instead of a doctor and without the quirky, wonderful characters of Bluebell?
The Letdown (2017)
Laugh Out Loud Funny!
I am not a parent but this is eye opening in the most hilarious way. I can't believe this is Australian as I am usually not a fan of our comedies.
Modern Love (2019)
Beautiful
I passed on this for for a few weeks as it didn't seem like my thing but it totally was and more. Binged in a night but stories that will stay with me forever. The soundtrack is also amazing.
