This episode is all about the outbreak of the zombie virus, so there are intense sequences were the human characters have to fight the undead, and let me tell you they are done really well. The whole cafeteria sequence at the beginning is the best part of the episode, there are so many characters (well done to every single extra, everyone delivered) and everyone is involved in something, you will not catch anyone standing still because they all were given instructions on what to do. Great job. My favourite actor this episode was the girl in the bathroom stall. I do not know the character and actress name but she did good despite her little screen time.
I decided to rewatch the series while waiting for any official news about a second season. This first episode felt a lot like a korean drama until the end, despite it being done on purpose to subvert the viewer expectation it slowed the pace a bit. If someone was watching the series for the zombies alone, this episode could make them bored and decide to not continue with the series, but if they stuck around until the last minutes they would probably get hooked. My favourite part about this episode has to be the scientist speech during the lesson about virus, the actor did a really good job with the character.
I first saw this movie when I was a child (I was born in 2001) and to this day, this movie from my childhood, still holds up. The animation is still good, the story is ok, and the new characters were good. But yes, good doesn't mean great, so this movie is not getting a 7 out of me. There's two scenes in the movie, one revolving around Pikachu and one around Ash, and they both had me kinda emotional, not as much as they used to but still made me feel something. Too bad that the movies are not canon and the whole Pokèmon clones deal was never explored in either the anime or the games. Oh well, still a good movie.
