All that Joker accomplishes in its two hour run time is astonishing. Making a psychotic murder sympathetic and layered is quiet an achievement. Using its R rating to explore the deep and explicit world Arthur lives in greatly affects how we perceive this characters representing the lower class in modern society. I wouldn't dare end this review without a mention to Joaquin Phoenix's magnetic performance making us believe he is the clown prince of crime from the comics but also retain a sense of humanity in his interactions with his city and people. Phoenix better not be cheated out of his Oscar.
