The Bear: Tomorrow (2024)
Every one has an off day
I can't think of a worse opening to a new season. This was a terrible episode in what is otherwise a great show. Zero writing and dialougue. We have seen about 90% of the scenes in the last two seasons. It's like they wanted to torture the viewer. It was so bad I almost quite watching entierly. But I am way to invested in the show to quite now.
This episode was as dysfunctional as the characters family relations. It was as chopped up and edited as much as one of the main courses of the meals they cook. It was trying to be raw, but way over cooked with a pretentious director and editors advancing nothing to the story. Second episode is better if you can stomach your way through the first.
Old Henry (2021)
Awesome Movie
Keeping it simple: This was a great movie. It is too bad it wasn't promoted more. Great drama and a great story with an amazing ending. Young guns 3 for sure.
The Tomorrow War (2021)
Solid Movie
The movie is enjoyable. Good summer blockbuster. CGI is good, acting is good. Ignore negative reviews.
I Care a Lot (2020)
Don't believe the bad reviews
This was a 7. I gave it an 10 to offset some of the very unfair and bad reviews. It was not boring and the story is origional. Dinklige and Pike are great.
Black '47 (2018)
Almost Braveheart
Great movie. Well acted, beautifully shot and the script is engrossing. An inspiring film.
Watchmen (2019)
Even if there are trolls this show is boring
4 episodes in and this show is going nowhere. It is extremely bland and has almost zero potential to get better. The characters are dull and there is absolutly no story. It flounders at every turn. I hope HBO drops this show and puts more effort into other series.
See (2019)
All The People Rating This Low Have Not Watched It
If you like a dystopian show that's production, story, and acting are great, then watch it. I have seen the first 4 episodes and each one keeps you on the edge of your seat. It has great character development but keeps viewers on the edge of their seat.
Joker (2019)
The Joke Is On Everyone Political
Strip away everything people are criticizing this movie about. I saw it tonight and it is a good movie. People and half baked critics are reading their own political narratives into this movie. In fact, the movie practically jokes within itself that it's not meant to be political. It's a good movie with twists and is a very believable origin story. Its realistic in its story and doesn't pretend otherwise.
Twin Peaks (2017)
Boring
This is so boring. Tried to watch the pilot twice. Could never make it past the first 20 minutes. The 90's series is way better.
House of Cards (2013)
Season 1 is a 10 and every season after subtract 2 stars
First season was awesome. And every, single season afterwards got worse. By the time you are done with this series, you will be angry. The acting throughout is great. But the story gets worse and worse. The writers began to throw it together. The last season was a disgrace. The ending of Lost, True Blood, or Dexter, has nothing on how bad the ending of House of Cards. An utter piece of garbage. I wish this series was never made.
Gran Torino (2008)
One of the Best Eastwood Movies
Great movie all around. Eastwood deserved an Oscar. It will make you laugh, and cry.
Don't Breathe (2016)
Don't believe the bad reviews
This movie is one of the most suspenseful movies I have ever seen. Everything about it is great. Stephen Lang is perfect in this move. Do not listen to the horrible reviews.
Braven (2018)
Good Action Thriller
I would really rate this a 6.5 if I had the option. The protagonist always misses the opportunity to pick up a fallen villens weapon and that bothers me. There are not one, but two, Cliff scenes that reality must be suspended in order to believe. But if you liked cliffhanger (with Stallone) and could suspend belief for that movie, then you will enjoy Braven. I will say the area they filled is beautiful and Stephen Lang ( the actor who plays Mama's father in the movie) is great and gives a good performance. It's worth the watch. The movie is worth the watch if you like action thrillers.
Acts of Violence (2018)
If this was a mini series, it would have been great.
The first five minuites of this movie was great. The bond of the brothers protecting each other as children was great, and the VA scene was absolutely perfect. I have had the same experience with the VA. Unfortunately, after that, the story became fragmented. Honestly, it was a good story but the editing board must have had a hay day. It just jumped from scene to scene without many things being accounted for. The actors were not allowed to show their full range of emotions. If it was an 8 part mini series, it would have been great. The characters needed time to be explored more. If it had been longer, the action scenes could have been more developed. I like all the actors, and they probably did more in scenes that were left on the cutting room floor.
Defiance (2008)
An inspiring ww2 movie.
This should be rated higher than a 7 on imdb. It captures so many emotions of perseverance, religion, love, family, life and death. It will challenge you to ask yourself when first moral and ethical principals should be bent depending on a social circumstance. Great movie and one Zwicks best. One of the more under rated movies in the last decade for sure. No country for old Men won best picture oscar in 2008. Defiance was way better.
Braveheart (1995)
The gold standard of its genre.
This was the first rated R movie I ever saw with my parents. I was Thirteen and that was about two decades ago. I feel compelled to write a review simply out of nostalgia for this movie. Recently I have also seen critics of Mel Gibson shaming the movie over its historical inaccuracy. That is such a shallow critique given Hollywood stretches every "true story." And I don't recall this movie ever being touted as historically accurate to begin with. This is one of the most epic movies ever made. This movie is the gold standard for all other movies of its kind, period. If you have not seen this move, do yourself a favor and watch it. Anyone that rated this below an 8 is empirically wrong.
Bright (2017)
Fun and exciting. Dont listen to the critics.
This was a fun movie. It is worth the watch. It has the buddy cop aspect but it is much more than just that. David Ayer did a good job and this was a good story. Will Smith and Joel Edgerton had great chemistry. To hell with the critics. This movie deserves a sequel.
Happy! (2017)
Wow! This is going to be a cult classic for sure.
I have only seen the first couple episodes of this show and it is awesome. It is hilarious on many levels. The acting is great. The writing is great. The violent, over the top action is great. The story is great. Patten Oswald is perfect as the imaginary friend. Christopher Meloni, the main character, is going to be remembered for this role the rest of his acting career. He plays his character perfect. Honestly, this has to be one of the best shows on television. I can't recall ever seeing another show like this, ever. Seriously. This is going to have a cult following for sure. Just watch the first episode and enjoy the ride into the absurdly, hilarious-violent-madness.
Marshall (2017)
Perfect movie for our time.
This was a great movie. Everyone in America should see this movie. It tackles allegations of rape, racism, and what it means to fight for the rights enshrined in the Constitution. Thurgood Marshal was an amazing individual and this movies strength focuses on a sliver of what he did to advance our Justice system and the Constitution. Even if you are not interested in politics, this is a good mystery legal drama. If you know absolutely nothing about Thurgood Marshal, this movie will still be entertaining, thought provoking. It really is the perfect movie for what is happening in real time right now.
The Punisher (2017)
A action packed show with a message about the effects war can have on individuals.
The punisher is a great action series. This is the best netflix marvel series so far. Some people are saying it does not have enough violence for the punisher but that just isn't the case. The acting is great and the mix of action and character development was perfect. Another criticism I have seen is that this is an untimely show because we are having a gun debate in the wake of mass shootings. Well, the show presents the issue in a way that doesn't give into platitudes about guns or the 2nd Amendment. It treats the topic with a respect for both sides of the argument and doesn't give into the "guns are bad" narrative. The writers made a real effort to explore the depths of each character. The show emphisizes the effects that war can have on individuals and gives a broad spectrum of examples of this through the multifaceted characters they create. Sure, it is fictionalized, but it treats the subject of guns, ptsd, violence, mental health, and war with a certain respect. If you like action, and drama, then this series is for you.
War Machine (2017)
Waiting For It To End Like The Real War
Not exactly good, not exactly bad. If you don't have anything else to watch, go for it. It's trying to be funny, but it cant be because of the seriousness of it all. Its like someone wrote a serious war movie, then the script was given to a satirist who just simply couldn't pull it together. The movies narration was meant to be the guiding voice of reason among madness. Unfortunately it was like having a high school student interested in politics give his two cents about the meaning of it all. This movie would have been better released around April fools than Memorial Day weekend.
King Arthur: Legend of the Sword (2017)
The critic's pen should not be mightier than the sword!
I just saw this movie and throughout the entire film, I couldn't help but think: Did the critics even watch this movie? Who in the production of this movie upset the aristocracy of film critics to warrant such bad reviews? Did the critic's piggy back on a wave of an elite film cabal poised to tank a Guy Richie sequel? Only in that regard was the movie ruined for me! In fact, I feel compelled to write a review more of the critics than the movie. There is no reason this should be a "block buster tank."
Sure, the movie had its typical tropes. But all of them were played out perfectly. Sure, the movie had quickly edited scenes typical of a Guy Richie film. But if the critics can't follow along with this movie, it's more of a personal problem with their internal comprehension to process visual dialogue than the fault of a great story. If elite film critics can blast male IMDb reviewers for tanking the female version of "Ghost Busters" (which really was bad) then this is their aristocratic payback review for remaking (more like reinventing) an immortalized machismo legend.
If you are thinking about seeing this movie, and you like the idea of a mystical "Lord of the Rings" Brittan, and if you like a main character finding his way through impossible odds to greatness, and if you enjoy action movies, and if you enjoy an awesome reinvention of a legendary tale, then you should probably go see this movie. You will enjoy it.
