Hadik (2023)
An OK movie
It is an OK movie with historically accurate costumes.
You will get exactly what you can read in the description of the movie. It depicts the events of the siege against Berlin led by Hadik. Nothing more, nothing less.
The film creates a very good atmosphere, and it is quite fun to watch. The dialogues are full of funny and smart remarks, especially when characters are teasing each other.
However the movie doesn't give us a well-detailed, deep portrayal of the characters and most of the conflicts are solved too soon, therefore they don't seem to be serious enough for us to root for the characters.
It is fun to watch once, but it is not a memorable movie.
Kilakoltatás (2021)
interesting topic, woth a watch
I liked the idea of showing an eviction, and the surreal way how bureaucracy works. It is an unpopular topic not often shown on screen.
It is heartbreaking to see that nobody seems to care that a life has been ruined. The people protesting against eviction seem to have more fun acting rebellious than feeling compassion. The person who put the elderly lady into this position also tries to avoid any responsibility.
The film shows all the parties involved in this matter and they are not portrayed as good versus evil. Each character has their own backstory, motivation and flaws.
The portrayal of the characters might have been a little deeper, that's why it is a 7/10 for me.
A játszma (2022)
An exciting movie with interesting twists
The movie takes us back to the harsh reality of the cold war era, when everybody - even family members and friends - had to report on each other to the communist regime. The focus of the movie is on a former agent of the state, who is now old and ill. His former colleagues, who played a major role in his falling from power still suspect him and are afraid of his revenge, so they decide to take action and spy on him. The film has interesting characters, deep dialogues and excellent acting. János Kulka, the actor portraying the main character only has short lines but the way he acts with his gestures and facial expressions is fantastic. He is one of the best actors in Hungary. The younger female lead also did an excellent job. The film is very smart in a way that the twists are cleverly foreshadowed. They are not obvious, but after each twist you realise that there have been small hints and clues all along. It's an excellent film.
Hüség (2022)
It is literally the last days of an elderly lady recorded
Before watching this movie I expected a classic documentary with a narrator, experst, etc. However, this film literally shows scenes from the last days of an elderly lady. It was very uncomfortable to watch it and difficult to write a review.
It is more like a black and white home video than a cinematic movie with a plot. I often felt uneasy and impatient at some of the scenes.
When the film starts the old lady's mental and physical health have already deteriorated. The characters are not actors but real people. That's why the husband and the other members of her family behave quite unnaturally in front of the camera.
It is very honorable to dedicate a film to the memory of an elderly lady. What I missed from the movie is that we didn't get to know more about her life before the illness ( the film only shows the last stage) and even about the disease itself, although I understand that it might have been more painful for her family and friends to talk about her earlier life and think about what they have already lost.
I would recommend this film only for people who have family members suffering from the same disease. It might help you get prepared for what is yet to come.

An unexpexted masterpiece
I didn't have much expectations before watching this movie. I am so glad my husband convinced me to watch it!
It turned out to be a deep, emotional drama showing us the inside struggle of the protagonist. Every gesture and sentence has a meaning. It shows how pressure and the desire to live up to her husband's expectation (who is also her coach) affects her everyday life. It is very different from other sport-related movies like Rocky. It is not an inspirational film about persistence and discipline. If you love unusual, deep psychological drama that makes you think, you should definitely watch it!
