The Incredible Dr. Pol (2011)
Enjoyable...
...but a bit repetitive.
We also find it quite annoying that they block out some parts when showing surgery or animal wounds. If people are squeamish they shouldn't be watching this type of show.
And as some other reviewers have pointed out, we also wonder why some treatments are done without sedating the animals first? If it's a cost issue than why not show us the conversation between owner and vet? I think Dr. Pol loves the work and challenges more than he actually loves the animals.
I've been told my review is too short so this is me taking up the required characters for a review to be accepted.
Shadow and Bone (2021)
Two Niggles
I enjoyed the first season and would have given it a 7 or 8 except for two things that really annoyed me about this show:
1. Subtitles are needed to understand Alina (she obviously didn't get proper enunciation training).
2. The scenes filmed in the dark were practically like watching a blank television screen (and yes I did adjust the picture setting on my TV to try brighten the scenes but to no avail).

Beware - series ends on a cliff hanger; there is no conclusion.

"Song" at end of episode 2 put me off
I refuse to support productions which think it's okay to put such vile lyrics into people's heads. No wonder this world is becoming so debased!

Poor Randal
Beth should be supporting her husband. It was wrong of her to commit to the dinner and then say yes to her work colleagues. And if her phone really died how did she hear Randal's voice message???

Could have been better
This is the first Korean series I have watched. I was drawn to it because of the ballet. It turned out that there really isn't that much ballet in this drama but I kept watching because I really felt for all the characters and wanted to see what would happen to them. However, I feel that the series was too drawn out and could have been told just as successfully with fewer and shorter episodes.

I can't believe there are so few ratings and reviews for this thrilling series. I really hope we get a second season.

Using the F-word does Not make you Funny
I made it through four and a half episodes. I gave up because I can't stand comedians who think that using the F-word makes them funny and because I don't believe that this is the way people spoke in the 1950's.

Compelling Human Drama
My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed the first two seasons. We eagerly await the third season to come to Netflix South Africa.
The Queen's Gambit (2020)
Overrated
No doubt the acting, cinema photography, and music is all great.
But the plot is actually quite dull and predictable; this really should have been a movie.
The Good Doctor (2017)
Season 3 goes downhill
I rate seasons one & two a 9 but season three gets a 6 as it's now more about Shaun and his love life rather than about him being a doctor and surgeon.
Humans (2015)
Review of first season
Made it through the first 8 average episodes of season 1 hoping that it would get better. But I feel nothing for the characters and won't continue with the series. The acting is below par and plot too slow. I much preferred EXTANT.
Zoo (2015)
Season 2 has PERFECT ending!
I enjoyed the second season as much as the first season. The ending of season two is so good I wish it could happen in real life. No need to watch season 3.

Marcella (2016)
Series 1 Review
The plot was good but unfortunately Marcella is a despicable human being: lying and falsifying evidence because she suspects she may have committed an horrific crime during one of her "blackouts".
I watched to the end only because I wanted to find out who the killer really was but I won't be watching the next series.
