Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (2005)
One of the best movies of the year.
This adaptation of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory was great. Of most of us would be a little bit skeptical about this movie because we all grew up with the original and already felt it could not be duplicated. Tim Burton could not have did a better job with this movie. The Cast was perfect. Johnnie Depp was hilarious. He was the best Willy Wonka ever. Tim Burton and Johnnie Depp make a great team as we will see in The Corpse Bride in September. Also, this movie will make you want a gang load of chocolate too. After watching the movie, I went to buy and Big Kit Kat. This movie was great and I can't wait for to hurry up and come out on DVD. If you haven't seen this movie yet, get off your butt and watch it.
Martin (1992)
The Best Show that has hit the small screen
"Martin" was the most hilarious show there ever was that hit TV. It was on everyone's TV schedule. This show has never steered anyone in the wrong way and never was 'not' funny. Two of my favorite episode was when Martin and Gina had bought a new bed and the decided to have sex and Gina got her head stuck between the bars of the metal headboard. They tried so hard to get it off by pulling and burning some of the bars off but was unsuccessful. On top of that, she had to give this big presentation at work so she tried to camouflage it with a big scarf and a big Diana Ross wig. It was so funny. The second is when they got married on the tropical beach. That was a dream wedding that included some of the ups and downs that would pop up before the actual wedding takes place. But it has always stood out in my head. "Martin" was the best show ever and I hope that they put it on DVD soon.
Janet Jackson: Live in Hawaii (2002)
Get the point? Good. Let's dance.
All For You- Live in Hawaii was Janet at her best. This concert was filled with excitement, toughness, and of course as some of us Janet fans know: sexiness. No one can top Ms. Janet. She came out strong with her petite frame and pretty face and rocked a good show. If you're watching this concert for the first time then I know you will have a great experience. This concert marked the second time I seen Ms. Jackson live on stage and had me shocked at some points. Some of the things you could always expect from Janet is some great dancing, some surprises, and her singing your favorite Janet songs. Janet never leaves a stone unturned and you never have to worry about being disappointed. This is an all out great show and if you're watching it for the first time, I hope you enjoy it.
I'm Gonna Git You Sucka (1988)
One Knock-Out Movie!!!
This movie was hilarious!! There was non-stop laughter on my part. I would have to say that anything Keenan Ivory Wayans touches is gold. I love how he incorporates his family in his films. A lot of actors got their start in this film(Chris Rock). And I especially love how he incorporated all the black heroes in this film just to poke fun at themselves. This is a movie that should be in everyone's collection and everyone can relate to this movie. I am trying so hard to not give any details as to which parts of the movie that I found to be the best parts of the movie because I don't want to spoil it for anyone who has not seen this movie but if you watched and loved In Living Color for the years that is was on the air, you can expect that same humor in I'M GON GIT YOU SUCKA!!!
Janet: The Velvet Rope (1998)
A Musical Great At Work
Janet Jackson is at her best for the "The Velvet Rope" concert. Being that a few months prior while recording the album, she was suffering with what many of us have experienced before: Depression. Janet puts her all into this project and it shows in her LP and the concert. I had the opportunity to see this concert live as well as on DVD. I have to say that both experiences were amazing. I have SO many favorite parts of the show that is hard to name them all but I really enjoyed her performance of "What About" which is a song that speaks mainly about domestic violence. I found that performance well thought out and choreographed perfectly. It was also very touching. Janet is one of the most talented performers there is in the world and no one can duplicate her.
