Poker Face (2023)
Great Fun. Don't Read The One Star Whiners
Each episode is self contained, save for a thread that runs through the series. Lyonne is perfect as the human lie detector. With the exception of the thread characters, each episode has a different cast and basic plot. If you're a fan of Columbo, give the series a try. A warning however, the series skips about in timelines. The language is salty at times, but it's nothing you don't hear in large populations at the beach.
Outside of that, a wonderful portrayal of a woman with a special ability on the run who helps solve crimes while passing through towns.
I recommend the series. Give it a try.
She-Hulk: Attorney at Law: Whose Show Is This? (2022)
Great Episode With Surprises
So many of those who are unhappy with this episode should open their minds. From the start, She-Hulk was different. The lead character breaks the fourth wall, the series never took itself too seriously and let's face it, Tatiana Maslany is just cute as a button.
This episode. "Whose Show Is This" had a classic Hulk opening, a couple of weird plot twists and then, just as things are going off the rails, a wonderful journey into the minds of Marvel/Disney. I thought the whole twist was hilarious. My advice to all the fanboys is to think about all the Marvel movies that had exactly what is revealed in this episode. This episode and the series is an enjoyable trip. I look forward to a second season.
Westworld: Que Será, Será (2022)
The Season 4 Finale - Meh
I really wanted to like this season, but from start to finish I felt like nobody involved really cared. The finale was disappointing to say the least.
Bad Vegan: Fame. Fraud. Fugitives. (2022)
Bad People and Bad Documentary
From the start, I realized I had no sympathy for Sarna. When she speaks, you realize she wants to play the "I'm a victim and I'm really smart and pretty so you must believe me" card. Watching paint dry would be a more rewarding experience.
Jolt (2021)
It's Not Citizen Kane.....
A fun distraction for a rainy afternoon, JOLT delivers some high voltage action. Beckinsale gives a great performance as Lindy, a woman coping with a severe medical condition. Stanley Tucci is great as her doctor. Highly recommend.
A Clüsterfünke Christmas (2021)
Perfect Hallmark Parody
If you've enjoyed the guilty pleasure of a sappy Hallmark Christmas movie, give Clusterfunke a try. A wonderful parody of many of the Hallmark movies, right down to the product placement. No spoilers here, but the usual twists keep it fun.
Occupation: Rainfall (2020)
Six Stars for one part
Bud and Steve should have a movie all their own. They're the best part of what is otherwise a poor film. Well worth the fast forward to the 1 hour 20 minute mark for their routine.
Love, Death & Robots (2019)
Season Two is Awful
Season one was good. I personally think season two was a contest to see who could produce the most mind numbing pile of excrement.
And Did They Listen? (2014)
Do Some Homework Before Watching
A little research will reveal Billy is quite the fraudster. I recommend not wasting your time.
Tenet (2020)
Not For Everyone
Here's a suggestion. Watch this movie as many times as you need to understand it. Or do something productive and paint a room. Watch the paint dry, you'll have a better experience.
Titans (2018)
Some good parts, some really bad parts
Season 1 was a decent character intro, but it began to evolve into a whiny, angst ridden, twenty something festival. Season 2 continues the trend, with more people joining in. Watch if you choose, just bear in mind, many of the characters are deep in pain.
Hysterical (1982)
It's Funnier Than You Think
I have watched this movie a number of times. No, it is not Citizen Kane, as others have pointed out, but if you live in Oregon (I do) it has a certain charm to it. Plus some of the lines and actions are laugh out loud funny. To this day, when I'm about to take a picture of my family, I sometimes make the comment "Annnnd here we go!" Also, any trip to Cannon Beach (where parts of the movie was filmed) will involve me declaring we are "Doooooommmmmmeeeed!"
Shinya shokudô: Butter Rice (2009)
Great Tales, Even Better Food
I've been enjoying the series, this episode in particular because of the butter rice. Very easy to make and like the series, very comforting.
Homecoming (2018)
Season One Yes, Season Two No
This review is for both seasons. Season one is a solid 10. Both for the acting and plot line in season 1 was top notch. Unfortunately, season 2 is so bad that it deserves a solid 0. I don't want to give anything away, but season one has great twists as we follow Walter and others. Maybe season three, with better writing (and if season 3 happens) the focus should be on Walter.
Manifest: Icing Conditions (2020)
I Had A Calling To Say Goodbye
Watched the 2nd season finale and decided I won't be flying with Manifest anymore. Too many contrived moments and uneven plot twists, along with the weekly "family member in dire straits" moments have left me cold (pun intended.)
Star Trek: Discovery (2017)
Many Whiny Reviews Here
Ignore the whiners. Watch it and judge for yourself. It's great binge watching.
Tidelands (2018)
Lots of "action" down under
Not great, not good. Pretty people dealing with secrets of all kinds. Some episodes have short steamy scenes. Some acting that is not wooden. If you're looking for something to bingewatch on a Saturday night and don't care about what you're watching, give Tidelands a try.
