Life of Pi (2012)
Absolutely Enchanting work from Lee.
My Rating: 9/10
Enchanting, Spiritual, Great Acting and with Incredible Visual effects, Life of Pi is an amazing story of survival and courage and is backed up with some amazing visual effects, great acting, superb background score and some brilliant presentation of a movie by Ang Lee who has made a perfect move from a novel which was labelled as one from which a movie cannot be made out of, and Lee Deserves a lot of applaud for his devotion and brilliant contribution to this movie.
The Story which is based on the novel written by Yann Martel is about a young spiritual boy named Pi Patel(Suraj Sharma) who is the boy of a zookeeper who lives in Pondicherry, but after some issues with their zoo in pondicherry, they decide to move to Canada and take the animals with them, but when they board the ship and after staying in it for sometime, it starts to sink and only Pi barely manages to survive in a boat along with a zebra, hyena, an orangotan and a Tiger named Richard Parker, and after the other animals kill themselves, it's only Pi and the Tiger who survive and Pi must find a way to tame Richard Parker and save himself from the gruel Pacific Ocean and somehow survive through this crises.
Their are'nt many actors in this movie and the cast is quite small compared to most movies, but everyone has done their job's superbly, starting from Suraj Sharma who has portrayed the young Pi brilliantly and his acting throughout the crises time is amazing and he plays his character quite perfectly and has done a lot of good to his career with this. Irfan Khan also does brilliantly as the Present Pi who is grown up after that survival in the ocean and although much of his role is to narrate the story, he has done it superbly and its good to see the Indian Actors do well in this movie. Even Tabu( Pi's Mother) and Adil Hussain(Pi's Father) have done well to ensure that everyone in the cast has done extremely well with their roles. Last But Not the least the Tiger aka Richard Parker deserves a huge amount of credit and although i don't really know if its animated or not, but if its real then hats off to the trainer who trained him.
Well, before this movie was released or was poised to release, there was a lot of talk of how the book cannot be depicted into a film, but Ang Lee has silenced those critics by making one of the most beautiful and visually thrilling movies of the past years which also consists of some great acting and some really brilliant presentation of survival and courage of Pi and Lee has done amazingly in all the aspects of the film starting from the cast(which is quite small and inexperienced) in which he has made Sharma act to his full potential, to the visual effects(for which although the visual effects team deserve the most credit) which are absolutely amazing and I really regret not watching this in the movie theatre, and the presentation of the movie is absolutely amazing starting from the first scene to the last, and the scene's of Pi and Richard Parker are absolutely amazing and visually enthralling. He Deserves the Best Director Oscar award this year and I'm Sure Life of Pi will get awards from many other categories as well.
The Visual effects of this movie is one of the best visual effects i've seen in a movie and this movie was difficult to make mainly because of these quite impossible visual effects in the story, but it's perfectly shown by the visual effects team who have done an amazing job with the sequences after the ship sinks and this movie is bound to get many awards from the visual categories. The Cinematography In the Movie is also superb and the scene's shown of the pacific ocean are simply mind- blowing and the cinematographer Claudio Miranda has done a really brilliant job with the cinematography which also adds to the brilliant visual effects of the movie.
The Screenplay of the movie written by David Magee is quite great and the dialogues are brilliantly delivered by the actors and the novel was quite brilliantly depicted in this movie with the help of the screenplay and Magee has done a great job with the screenplay of the movie. The Background music in each and every sequence is amazing and the survival scene's are really superbly backed up with the background score mainly consisting of Indian Instuments and the background music goes brilliantly with the visual effects of the movie which leave many awestruck throughout the movie and the Mychael Danna has done brilliantly with the background score of the movie.
Well, I Really DO regret not watching this in the movie theatre and this probably has everything in it to please the audience and the visual effects and heart-warming story keeps one awestruck throughout the movie.
Zero Dark Thirty (2012)
Thrilling and Extremely Convincingly Real.
Zero Dark Thirty: 8.5/10
Intense, Thriling, Convincingly Real and aided by brilliant acting by Jessica Chastain and co, Zero Dark Thirty shows the assassination of Osama Bin Laden extremely well and convincingly and is embolised through the tough acting by Chastain and the rest of the crew and some brilliant and convincing presentation by Kathryn Bieglow who keeps on making movies related to war and crime superbly.
The Story which is based on true events of the assassination of Osama Bin Laden and the screenplay written by Mark Boel is based on CIA's hunt of finding out where Bin Laden is hiding out after the 9/11 attacks and shows the life of Maya(Chastain) who is a extremely capable CIA agent who is sent to help out in finding Bin Laden, and how she gets adamant of finding him and bravely goes through much risks and hard-times to finally get a source of where he is and must prove it to the high officials that he is in a location and they should assassinate him.
Jessica Chastain is basically the only ''lead'' character in this movie as the fearless Maya who is adamant and obsessed to find and kill Bin Laden and she does this role superbly, and considering that she is in the pressure of delivering most of the acting goods, she does an extremely convincing job and probably deserves the awards she is receiving for this performance which is probably her best so far. Joel Edgerton is a really talented and underrated actor i believe and he does another fine performance as Patrick(Squadron Team Leader) who must take his team to assassinate Bin Laden, and though he does'nt have much screen time, he does greatly in whatever screen time he gets. Jeremy Strong and Jason Clarke do their bits superbly to make the acting in this movie look really realistic to what happened.
Kathryn Bigelow has done another extremely super job in making a film based on really controversial events and I don't think many imagined the movie to be made so quickly after the real events and she took a bold decision in making this but it paid of really well as she made a really convincing movie explaining the audience of what actually happened before and during the assassination. Although she gets a bit desperate in explaining extremely thoroughly at times but apart from that she has done a brilliant job in all parts of the film and really helped Chastain and other deliver there performances greatly and she has made another great film.
The Story is quite precise and explains to the audience of what happened during and before the actual assassination happened and although it is quite convincing, one begins to feel that its a bit over-stretched and at times could have been cut short a bit, but apart from that screenwriter Mark Boel has done a great job with the dialogues and script of the film and has done a convincing job in showing this story well, and the story's backed up superbly by Bigelow and the rest of the crew. The Editing of the film is quite superb as the scenes of the film are synchronised superbly and the editing makes it tough to predict it.
The Cinematography of the film is quite fitting to the film and some of the scenes shown in Iraq and Pakistan are brilliant and dark at the same time and cinematographer Greig Fraser has done a really fine job with it. The Background music of the movie is extremely fitting to the scenes and its haunting and dark and as good as it can get for this type of movies and Alexandre Desplat keeps on delivering remarkable scores for each movie he decides to go with, he is really talented in delivering the backgound music of a film.
Finally, Although this was'nt as good as i thought it would, its extremely close to it and Bigelow has made another brilliant movie which keeps you thrilled and guessing all the time and at the end you're quite convinced of what happened during or before Osama Bin Laden's assassination.
Les Misérables (2012)
Brilliant Musical of the past times.
Les Miserables: 8.5/10
Entertaining, Artistic, Melodious, Brillianted Acted by the ensemble cast and Perfectly presented by the talented Tom Hooper, Les Miserables is almost like a breath of fresh air to movies of the past and is a real entertaining and artistic ride from the start to the end, and is aided by the amazing acting from the front trio(Jackman, Crowe and Hatthaway) and the rest of the cast and the brilliant presentation by Tom Hooper who has made one of the finest Musicals of the past years.
The Story which is based on the book written by Claude-Michel Schönberg and Alain Boublil, is during the 1800's in France where a prisoner Jean Valjean(Hugh Jackman) is given his freedom after many years of prison, but with a note of shame because of which he can never get any recognition. But after getting inspired by An Old Man after he stayed at his house for a night, he decides to become a better person and after some years He becomes the Mayor of a town and now runs a factory and lives a good life, but his old tormentor or the guard of the prison he was in Javert( Russel Crowe) is back to reveal his identity and take him back to prison, but Jean decides to take the girl of the deceased and dying Fatine( Anne Hatthaway) and fulfill her wishes of keeping her daughter safe and he must run from Javert and give Cosette a good life to live.
The Acting by the whole cast in the movie was absolutely as good as it gets, and every single actor in the scene's have done their role's superbly and have done brilliantly with their lyrics too. But Hugh Jackman steals the show as the lead character Jean Valjean who is running a life of running away and keeping his daughter and himself from harm and Jackman does amazingly in this performance and makes the role his own, his acting and lyrics delivery is quite perfect and this is one of his best performances ever and he proves that he can do lead roles by himself. Anne Hatthaway does'nt have much screen time in the movie, but whatever she has done, she's done to utmost brilliance as the desperate mother Fatine who can do anything to save her daughter from harm, and the role is perfect for her and she does perfectly too. Russel Crowe too did a great job as the ruthless Javert and his lyrics delivery is superb. Sacha Boren Cohen and Helena Botham Carter give an comedical taste to the movie with their hilarious performance as the sly couple who had Cosette, and Amanda Seyfield and Eddie Redmayne too have done their jobs well.
Tom Hooper was quite bold in making this type of a movie, as this is his 4th movie ever but he is such a talented director that he has made a superb musical movie and one of the best of the past years, he had chosen and handled his multi-talented cast perfectly and he has synchronised all the lyrics of the movie brilliantly with the visuals as well as the music, and all the aspects of the scenes were terrificly well made and he continues to keep on making great films and entertaining one's too and considering the amount of work he had to put in with such a huge staff, he really did a great work to make this movie.
The Story of the movie based on a book is quite brilliant and all the years shown in the life of Jean where he travels through different places are written superbly, and it is adapted brilliantly by Screen- Play Writer William Nicholson and the lyrics of the movie are so brilliantly written as well by Herbert Kretzmer and they are greatly fitted for a musical movie and all the aspects of the story are synchronised superbly in the film. The Cinematography of the Movie is also quite great as the places of the pre-war France is shown superbly and some of the scenes are quite spectacular and the Cinematographer Danny Cohen really did a great job.
The Music in these type of Musical-movies are obviously the backbone of the movie and the music director Claude-Michel Schönberg did not disappoint here, as he did a terrific job in synchronising the music perfectly with all the lyrics in the movie and the different type of classical music used by him in the movie can be a music-lover's delight. The Art Direction team needs to get its applause too for its superb effort with the art direction of the film and the 1800's France is so brilliantly shown in the movie. The Costume Design team too needs to get applause for its effort with the costumes worn by the actors and the costumes were so realistic and added to the brilliance of the film.
Finally, this movie is one of the best musical movies i've ever watched and one of 2012's finest movies which can be enjoyed by all sets of audience and this can be a real Awards favourite this time.
Beasts of the Southern Wild (2012)
Inspiring and Amazing.
Intense, Inspiring, Beautiful, Bold and Amazingly Acted as well as Directed and Presented, Beasts of the Southern Wild is an inspiringly emotional movie which really shows the meaning of surviving without sadness and is as good as it is because of the amazing acting from Quvenzhane Wallis and Dwight Henry and the immense work made by Director Benh Zeitlin to make such an inspiring and unique movie.
The Story which is based on a stage play ''Juicy And Delicious'' by Lucy Alibar is about a Six Year Old Poverty-struck Child named Hushpuppy(Wallis) and her arrogent and hot-tempered father Wink(Henry) and their lives in a remote, poor area, and although they are'nt rich, they still have fun with what they have. But everything goes wrong when Wink gets a health problems and a storm destroys their home and now they need to survive in their destroyed area and somehow Hushpuppy needs to save her father from degrading and also needs to learn to be more courageous.
I watched this Film as soon as i saw Wallis's nomination in the Oscar for Best Female Actress and after seeing this performance by a 9 year- old girl, i think she totally deserved the nod. She is absolutely amazing for such a young age and she steals the show in this film as Hushpuppy and she lights up this dark and intense movie with her acting and her dialogue delivery and everything about her character and her presentation in this movie is absolutely perfect and even if she doesn't win any awards this time, i'm quite sure she may turn into a brilliant actress in the near future. Dwight Henry also does a brilliant supporting job as Hushpuppy's hot tempered but caring father Wink who does'nt want anyone's help and wants to live and die in his home and Henry does a brilliant job with Wallis to making this movie so good. The Rest of the cast and all of actors shown have done their parts very well.
Director Benh Zeitlin may be unknown to many before this movie, but now he has the attention of many film lovers as he has made a beautiful movie out of this and with such an inexperienced and limited cast and crew, he has made use of everything he has got and although Wallis is an extremely talented Actress, Zeitlin has a big role in showing her true talent and he chose brilliant for his cast and all saw to the other parts of the film brilliantly and also utilized the story( of which he co-wrote the screenplay) perfectly, and considering that he had to write the story and give the background score too, He Did an immense job considering that not many expected a movie like this to be so well.
The Screenplay of the movie written by Zeitlin himself and Lucy Alibar as well is extremely well written and the story shows the survival instincts of the people who have the true will and determination to live and not give up and the character Hushpuppy was amazingly presented and although you sometimes think that some things may be wrong, the story nevertheless makes up for some mistakes. The Dialogues of the movie are really inspiring and the dialogue delivery by Wallis is as good as it gets.
The Cinematography of the movie is also very good and the remote area's shown in the movie are extremely well presented and Cinematographer Ben Richardson has done a fine job. The Background score which is given by Dan Romer and Zeitlin(he's everywhere it seems) is brilliantly synchronised to the sequences and the slow- piano music in most of the scenes are brilliantly synchronised as well.
Finally, I Did not expect to get such a good movie out of such unknown cast and crew and the acting and presentation in this movie itself is giving a lot of attention to, this is movie which deserves the accolades it gets.
My Rating: 8/10
Django Unchained (2012)
Just Awesome!
Intense, Violent, Smart, Brilliantly Acted along with a great screenplay, Django Unchained embodies what a Quentin Tarantino movie is all about, starting from violence to great acting to brilliant artwork and cinematography, and last but not the least the brilliant and ruthless presentation of the movie done by Tarantino himself and ensures to be one of the best Western movies of the past years and one of the truly best of 2012.
The Story which is written by Tarantino himself(another one of his brilliant abilities) is about a black slave named Django(Jamie Foxx) who is bought by a Dentist co Bounty Hunter Dr. King Schultz(Christoph Waltz) and he needs the help of Django to kill some wanted men who Django knows about. After killing the men and several others after Django And Schultz become partners, they decide to go to Mississipi to save Django's slaved wife who is enslaved by a brutal plantation owner named by Calvin Candie, and they must work out how to save his wife from the sly Candie.
The Acting by the cast as a whole was great, but the acting Trio of Jamie Foxx, Leonardo Di Caprio and last but not the least Christoph Waltz were the real show stealers and their acting was vital to this movie becoming so good. Jamie Foxx does a great job as the freed slave Django who turns into a bounty hunter and now must save his wife, and Foxx is a real capable actor and he does quite greatly in this. Di Caprio has done a terrific job as the sly and lethal Calvin Candie and he portrays the role of this villiain terrificly and his facial expressions and dialogue delivery were spot on. Although these two were amazing, Christoph Waltz in my opinion Knocks the ball out of the park in this movie as the Dentist/ Bounter Hunter Dr King Schultz who is the mentor and saviour of Django and trains him to become a Bounty Hunter, and Waltz and Tarantino are almost like a match made in heaven, they are flawless while working together and I truly hope Waltz gets some more awards for this. Samuel L. Jackson also does a very good job in his short role as Stephen, Caldie's assistant who is jealous of Django.
Now We All Know that Quentin Tarantino has a knack of making violent movies and displaying his movie's mostly in the form of violence and blood and abusive things, but he is just soo perfect at making these kind of movies that you forget about these violence and just get stuck into this movie which is guaranteed to entertain you from the very first scene to the last. Tarantino has done a massive job in making a good as a western movie like this as this is his first of the type, and the action, art direction, cinematography, screenplay and acting are spot on along with the great sense of background music, and his direction is so good that everything is near flawless in this movie and he really deserves something after all his brilliant works.
The Screenplay in this movie written by Tarantino himself is absolutely brilliant and the dialogues(although abusive at many times) are soo brilliant and brilliantly delivered by the acting cast, and as this is an original story, this really deserves an applauding for its uniqueness and sheer brilliance. The Background music is so brilliant and addictive that it really keeps you entertained from scene to scene and what music director has done brilliantly is that he has used all sorts of music to synchronise them with the scenes.
The Cinematography in the movie is brilliant as the 1850's shown in the movie is quite perfect and the U.S.A area's shown in that movie is so original and so real that you actually feel as if you are in those times. The Cinematographer Robert Richardson deserves some applauds for his brilliant work in the movie. The Art Direction and Costume Design in the movie are also brilliant and it adds to making the story original and showing the time's perfectly!
Well, This Movie is a real smashing movie and although it isn't certain to get many awards because of its violence, it truly deserves some big awards and Django Unchained will be certain to keep you entertained right from the first scene and it definitely is one of the best movies of 2012.
My Rating: 9/10
Argo (2012)
Extremely Smart and Brilliant Suspense-Thriller From Affleck.
Gripping, Haunting and Extremely well presented, Argo is a very smartly presented suspense-thriller which is sure to keep you gripped throughout the movie and is backed up with a unique script, some good presentation of the characters and extremely smart and brilliant direction and acting by Ben Affleck to show this tensed-terror ride as well as one can present.
The Story which is based on true events, is set in the late 1970's where during political unrests between the U.S.A and Iran was happening, the US Embassy is robbed by Iranian terrorists and 6 of the workers there manage to escape to the Canadian Embassy of Iran, and they must be saved by the CIA agents and must be brought back to the U.S. So A CIA Agent Tony Mendez(Ben Affleck) is brought upon to make a plan on how to save the 6, and he comes up with a plan of making a movie where they were kept as hostages and then make those 6 Americans as film's crew and somehow bring them back to their country.
The Acting in this movie is'nt based on someone in particular, but the ''lead actor'' in this movie is Affleck himself, and he does a brilliant job as Tony Mendez who is on a mission to save the 6 hostages and Affleck portrays this character superbly. The whole rest of the acting crew did very well and everyone did their character justice, but i thought Alan Arkin and John Goodman did their jobs brilliantly as Lester Siegel and John Chambers who are the two movie-related people who help Mendez make the plan with this movie.
Well, Ben Affleck always makes sensible and smart movie which are very logical and very pleasing to watch and can be enjoyed by all movie lovers and critics, and he did the same in making Argo, which a unique movie in its own, Argo is a very smartly made thriller and Affleck keeps you glued to the edge of your seat from the very beginning to the finish and keeps you wondering how Mendez will get those 6 out of Iran. Affleck both directed AND Acted in this movie and thats a very difficult thing to do, and he both the jobs so brilliantly that he really deserves most of the credit for the movie.
The Story(which is based on true events which had occurred on the dates shown in the movie) is a smart topic to make a unique suspense-thriller out of, but Affleck did just that in making this one, and he never overdid any part of it, and just showed what had actually occurred brilliantly. Screenwriter Chris Terrio has done a good job with the writing the story for this movie.
The Cinematography of the movie is quite good and Rodrigo Prieto has done a great job in showing the dark streets of Iran during those political unrest times and some of the sequences were really well presented. The Costumes worn by the actors in this movie are exactly what it should have been in those times, and the costume design team deserves some credit for that. The Editing of the movie is also quite good as the movie is'nt over-shown at any point and its very to the point stuff.
The Background music which is given by Alexandre Desplat is quite brilliant stuff and although in some of the scenes there is sheer silence and people only talking, but in many scenes Desplat has shown his magical music as he has delivered so many different kinds of music in the film, and the background score really synchronises well with the scene's of the film.
Finally, Argo is really smart and brilliant stuff from Ben Affleck and it has to be one of the best movies of 2012 and deserves more than one watch and It can be really pleasing for all sets of movie lovers.
My Rating: 9/10
Hope Springs (2012)
The Acting Trio Make it work!
Funny, Pleasing and very well acted by the trio, Hope Springs is an entertaining Rom-Com which is good for time-pass and having nice laughter along the way and is successful highly because of the brilliant chemistry of Meryl Streep and Tommy Lee Jones backed by a great performance from Steve Carell.
The Story(written by Vanessa Taylor) is about an elderly couple Kay(Streep) and Arnold(Lee Jones) who are married for 31 years but have lost their love for each other, and try and re-ignite their marriage by going to intense counselling in a place named 'Great Hope Springs' to a Dr Feld(Carell) who is famous for restoring marriages and he gives them some ''excersises' to do in order to get their feelings back for each other and we see how that happens as the movie goes on.
The Acting in this movie is the saving grace for the movie as it is really dependent on the pairing of Lee Jones and Streep who do not disappoint in this one, and although it may not have been their best, it was still quite great. Lee Jones was brilliant in portraying a grumpy, rude, disciplined tax officer Arnold and his mocking towards his wife and Dr Feld, and how he changes as the movie goes on. Streep is brilliant as ever as Kay, A lonely and sad housewife who wants to re- ignite her marriage and has to make some sacrifices in order to get it working. Carell was also great as Dr Feld and though he was not their in much of the movie, he was great with his dialogues and was practically poker-faced and serious throughout the movie. The Trio did their jobs brilliantly well and made this movie successful.
Well The Director David Frankel did a decent job in the direction of the movie and he chose his casting really well placing Lee Jones and Streep together and managed these high-profile actors very well, and utilized this story and portrayed it as perfectly it could have been shown. He did all he could in the movie and deserves some appreciation for it.
The Story is a bit different from the usual Rom-Com and though it has the same old predictable happy ending, I liked the subtle comedy in it and the dialogues were also great and the story was really shown greatly in the movie. The Cinematography in the movie is also decent, as the scenes shown in ''Great Hope Springs'' are quite pleasing to the eye. The Music was also okay-ish and some of the songs were good.
Well Finally, this is a good movie for time-pass and can give you a fun share of laughter and you can enjoy it more if you're a sucker for romantic-comedy's, but nevertheless the chemistry of Lee Jones and Streep steals the show and makes the movie worth watching.
My Rating: 6.5/10
Looper (2012)
Extremely Unique and Thoughtful.
Thoughtful, Unique, Thrilling, Visually Stunning with a brilliant concept and backed up by Writer-Director Rian Johnson's brilliant work and brilliant acting from the front trio, Looper is definitely a highly thrilling and thoughtful sci-fi movie which ensures entertainment right from the beginning and definitely lives up to the high expectations and in my opinion is one of the best sci-fi movies of the past times highly due to the brilliant work by Rian Johnson and his crew.
So The Story written by Rian Johnson himself is showing the year 2074 where dangerous mob's can get their targets eliminated by sending them back to the past through time travel and the killing be done by a Looper, and the story is based upon Joe(Gordon-Levitt) who himself is a Looper and has done lots of killing for some good amounts of money. But One day it all goes wrong where his own Loop or his own older self is to be eliminated by him and the older Joe(Bruce Willis) escapes from him and is on a mission to eliminate the Rainmaker who is responsible for the killings of the Loops. So Now Joe must kill his older self in order to get his life back and get back to being a Looper.
Joseph Gordon Levitt is in the lead role in this movie and does so brilliantly well yet again as Joe, and he is really a talented actors suited for these kind of serious roles. He Reminds me of a young Robert De Niro in this movie and sometimes his voice was also identical to De Niro, well he has the capability of becoming as good as De Niro in the future. The Movie is revolving around his character and he does an extremely good job in keeping the audience glued to his character. Bruce Willis too did a very good job as the old Joe, and although i think that the change from Gordon Levitt to Willis was a bit illogical, Willis did a very convincing job nevertheless. Emily Blunt also did a good job in portraying Sara and the acting trio have shined in this movie, and the rest of the crew also did a good job in their respective roles.
The Director-Writer Rian Johnson has done a tremendous job in making this movie considering that he also wrote the script for the movie, and the way the movie is set up from the beginning and shown throughout is absolutely brilliant and he explained his story brilliantly and also picked and directed a brilliant acting crew who all did their respective job very well, and also handled his visual crew well as the visual effects in the movie was absolutely top-class. The Story which i think is an original story written by him is absolutely brilliant and unique and time travel was shown so brilliantly and the effects of it too in the story and considering that its his own idea, Johnson did a mind- blowing job with the script and concept of this movie.
The Visual Effects of this movie right from the beginning and some of the scenes shown are absolutely mind-blowing stuff and the visual effects crew has done a marvelous job starting from the fighting scenes to the slow-motion one's and considering that its all futuristic stuff, this movie deserves some awards for its visual effects. The Cinematography in this movie too is top-class as the place's and area's shown starting from Kansas to Shanghai and that too in the future are absolutely so realistic and mind-blowing stuff and full credits to the cinematographer Steve Yedlin for his contributions to the film.
Finally, I really think that everyone should go for it being or not being a sci-fi movie fan, this is probably the best sci-fi movie after Inception and really deserves a watch and it also ensures full on entertainment and also will keep you mesmerized from the beginning and keep you thinking right till the ending scene.
My Rating: 9/10
Skyfall (2012)
Brilliant Tribute to 50 Years of Bond!
Thrilling, Action-Packed, Brilliantly Acted and Directed topped off with witty dialogues, Skyfall is probably as good as a total action-packed thriller can get and does justice to a Bond Movie and highly benefits from the great portrayel by Daniel Craig and a brilliant performance by Javier Bardem as the villain, and its topped off by some great direction from Sam Mendes and brilliant visually thrilling sequences.
So The Story based on the characters created by Ian Fleming and written by Neal Purvis, Robert Wade and John Logan, is about MI6 agents James Bond and his adventures as 007. In this movie, he is tested to save M(Judi Dench) from a highly brilliant maniac former agent Silva(Javier Bardem), who is adamant to kill M for betraying him and kicking him out of the MI6. Bond must catch and kill Silva before he does more mayhem to the MI6.
The Acting by the cast as a whole is quite great and all of them have done a decent job in their respective roles in the movie. Daniel Craig is great as ever as James Bond and he can really play the character convincingly and does again so with his style and he has everything that is needed to be Bond. Jarvier Bardem for me stole the light in this movie as the villain Silva, and he can be really menacing when he is in a villain role, and he does absolutely perfectly here as well as the brilliant maniac who is adamant to kill M. Ralph Fiennes who played Gareth Mallory in this movie did not have many screen time in this one but he is a brilliant actor and did a convincing job. Judi Dench had a big role in this movie and her great acting skills were proved here as M. The rest of the cast also portrayed their roles very well and did a convincing job.
Sam Mendes is a brilliant director and he makes a brilliant Bond movie which is the best in many years, and his handling and picking of the cast was great as he controlled everyone brilliantly, and he also put all the other elements of this action-packed movie brilliantly and he synchronised all the sequences of this movie brilliantly with all the visual effects, the music and also the witty dialogues throughout the movie and Daniel Craig and the rest of the actors also benefited from him.
The Story in this movie was a great one for Bond movie lovers and also for Action movie lovers and it also consisted of all the things a great Bond movie needs and the great witty dialogues topped it all off. The Cinematography in this movie i thought was top class and all the places in the movie are displayed brilliantly and the scenery's and places shown in the movie are visually pleasing. The Cinematographer Roger Deakins has done a great job with the cinematography of this movie and it contributed very well in the movie.
The Music which is by Thomas Newman is top class as he sychronises his great thrilling music with all the action packed sequences brilliantly and it keeps the movie from getting dull and keeps the audience glued in the movie and the Song by Adele in the movie is also excellent and its a great contribution to the movie.
Finally, I really liked the movie from the start till the end and its a great one for Bond Lovers and Action lovers too and its backed up with great stuff from all the elements that is needed in this type of a movie and it can be enjoyed by any movie/bond lovers.
My Rating: 8.5/10
The Wrestler (2008)
Mickey ''The Wrestler'' Rourke
Dramatic, Depressing And Heart-Breaking at times, The Wrestler is a very good movie which is majorly boosted by the brilliant performance by the returning Mickey Rourke as Randy ''The Ram'' Robinson and the Brilliant direction of Darren Aronofsky in making the movie this good which is backed up with a unique and life-like story of a rather complicated character.
So This Original Story which is written by Robert D. Siegel is about an aged professional wrestler Randy Robinson(Rourke) who gets a heart attack after a wrestling match one day,he finds out cannot wrestle ever again due to a poor heart condition and will die if he decides to wrestle and must retire from it, but he finds it increasingly difficult to stay out it and live a rather normal life which is filled with complications such as earning his living and making a healthy relationship with his love interest Cassidy(Tomei) and his daughter Stephenie(Wood), and is caught in a dilemma on what to do next.
This Movie revolves around Mickey Rourke as the main character who is the vocal point of the movie and who did a remarkable job considering that this was his return to mainstream cinema's after a short spell away he makes the role his own as he becomes like an aged wrestler in the end of his career and also does a perfect job in acting as a rather lonely Randy ''The Ram'' Robinson, and Rourke is one of the few main reasons on why this movie is so worth watching. Marissa Tomei does a very good in portraying Cassidy who is a stripper and also Randy's love interest, along with Evan Rachel Wood as Stephenie who's the daughter of Randy, and although Rourke steals the show in the movie, the other actors have done a good job in their roles.
In My Opinion, This movie is this good because of two reasons which are The Acting of Rourke and The Direction of Darren Aronofsky who does a tremendous job with the staff he got and considering that some of them are'nt even actors and there are so many inexperienced actors in the movie, he made every one of them act brilliantly. He also utilized this story and chose the right man in Rourke to play it, and showed the story perfectly to the audience thus making e a different type of a movie and he again excels in making really brilliant movies of different genre's.
The Story which is original is about a different type of a movie which also show's some action in the wrestling sequences, but is way different in most of it as a rather tensed drama about a rather lonely wrestler who's life is only about wrestling, and this story is very unique in its own way and kudos to the story writer Robert Siegel and also Kudos to the Director and Rourke for showing it so brilliantly to the audience.
The Music in this movie is given quite well and the music synchronized well with the scene's, many of which were quite dramatic, while many were tensed and depressing at times. Music Director Clint Mansell has done a good job with the back-ground music of this movie and the ending music was good too. The Set Design of the wrestling arena was also decently made up by the Set Designers.
This Movie is definitely one to watch for movie fans and the brilliant acting by Rourke is the shining light of this brilliant movie backed up by the effort put into it by the staff of the movie.
My Rating: 7.5/10
Moonrise Kingdom (2012)
Quite Brilliant.
Beautiful, Cute and boasting of very good and mature performances from the young duo of Jared Gilman and Kaya Hayward along with great supporting roles by the remaining cast, stunning visual scenery's and extremely good cinematography and a brilliant background score by Alexandre Desplat, Moonrise Kingdom is an extreme pleasing and enjoyable watch which is what it is due to the hard work and dedication of Director-Writer, Wes Anderson who has shown this unique movie brilliantly.
The Story which is written by Anderson and Roman Coppola, is about two young lovers Sam(Jared) and Suzy(Kara) who are neglected and mis-treated by their families and decide to run away from their relatives and live a life of their own together and how their adventures begin after they run away and a search party is put to find them and bring them back.
The Young duo of Jared Gilman and Kara Hayward have given really impressive and mature performances as the young lovers who decide to run away, and their expressions, dialogue delivery everything is quite perfect and they learnt very well from a very good director. The Supporting Cast of Bruce Willis, Edward Norton, Bill Murray and Frances McDormand who are the recognised actors in the movie also do a very good job in their respective roles and Tilda Swinton also did a great job for her little role in the movie. Overall, the ensemble cast have really done brilliantly here and all of the actors have portrayed their characters really well.
Wes Anderson is a real different and unique director who really makes a movie which are brilliant in all sections, and again has done the same here by showing the audience a adolescence romantic movie mixed with drama and comedy which really pleases all audiences and he has utilized the brilliant cast which was given to him to its most potential and also has organized all the other sections of the movie perfectly and by writing the movie he utilized and showed the story perfectly to the audience. He really used his crew perfectly and made a movie which can be enjoyed by everyone.
Now I don't really like Romantic stories or movies for that matter but this one was quite cleverly written and is also quite unique and you don't have a choice but to be pleased by its ability to keep you stuck in the movie and Anderson has done a brilliant job in written this very original story with a tinge of comedy and good dialogues which are delivered well by the actors. The Movie was'nt much of a drag either and was to the point, so the editing was done quite nicely.
The Cinematography in this is really brilliant and the island is shown so superbly even in the storm sequences that you can't help but get mesmerized by the beauty of the nature, the cinematographer Robert Yeoman really has done well with the lighting and camera-shot from high places. The Music which was given by well known Music Director Alexandre Desplat was absolutely brilliant and beautiful, the back-ground score was amazing and every sequence is backed up with brilliant classical music and other type of music which really fits in with the sequences. Desplat may as well get an Oscar for this, he has really done an admirable job.
Well Moonrise Kingdom is definitely a must-watch for anyone who likes to watch good movie and all audiences are bound to enjoy it and get pleased by it.
The Dictator (2012)
Provocative yet Irresestable.
Quite Hilarious in some parts, also being very insulting and racist in the other parts, along with the great funny acting and non-stop entertainment from Sacha Baron Cohen and the rest of the acting crew, The Dictator is a very funny movie which is quite perfect for time-pass and having a good entertainement of 90 minutes which will surely make you enjoy it and make you laugh very much from the very start to the last.
The Story which is written by Sacha Baron Cohen, Alec Berg, David Mandal and Jeff Schaffer, is about an cruel and funny dictator Admiral General Alladin(Sacha) in the country of Wadiya who rules the country by his own rules and regulations and thus is questioned by the UN to stop this dictatorship and is invited to visit America where he does go. But after going there he gets kidnapped by a man and after his body double gets his place and is being controlled by his Uncle Tamir(Ben Kingsley), he must find a way to get his place back and save Wadiya from being a democratic country.
Sacha Baron Cohen is the vocal point of this movie and the movie is extremely funny because of his antics in it by being an Idiotic Dictator Admiral Alladin who is cruel but lonely and dumb at the same time and his antics in this movie are really funny but a lot of insulting has been done in this movie to a number of celebrities. Ben Kingsley also did a fine job by portraying Tamir who is Alladin's sly uncle who is trying to get everything to himself by kidnapping Alladin. Jason Mantzoukas also did a funny and fine job as Nadal who is a scientist in Alladin's Nuclear Bomb Creation Centre.
The Director Larry Charles has done a decent job with his crew but to be honest Sacha Baron Cohen made this movie his own right from the beginning to the end and has really put in a lot of work to make this movie. Although the director managed his crew well and did well with the more inexperienced actors and staff. The music in this movie was quite funny and the Arabian music used in it is quite unique and is funnily synchronized with the sequences.
The Story in this movie is a fresh one and unique and this movie although being a bit of a slapstick movie, nevertheless manages to make you laugh and enjoy it from the beginning much to the antics of Sacha Cohen, But this movie is really Insulting to many celebrities and other respected people around the world and Its very controversial, but its good to see that all the celebrities did not get offended. Otherwise this portrayel of this crazy dictator is quite superbly shown.
Well, This movie is definitely a much watch for comedy movie lovers and is a good movie for time-pass for anyone which will entertain anyone and also Sacha Baron Cohen's antics throughout the movie along with the acting of the supporting cast will surely make you laugh throughout the movie, therefore this one can be watched for time-pass and entertainment.
My Rating: 6.5/10
The Hunger Games (2012)
An Unique and New Fantasy Franchise's beginning.
Entertaining, Action-Packed, Very Well Acted and Executed and with a very interesting story and concept which is unique and new in its own way, The Hunger Games is a very good Sci-Fi Fantasy movie which is enjoyable by any audience and its quite gripping and along with great performances from the ensemble cast and specially Jennifer Lawrence as Katniss Everdeen and also due to a great amount of dedication and hard-work by Director Gary Ross, this movie is a really good start to the franchise and the first film sets the tone for the next films which are to come in the future.
The Story which is based on the novel written by Suzanne Collins is set in the future about a deadly reality TV show called The Hunger Games, and the rules of The Hunger games is that two persons(1 boy and 1 girl) will be taken from 12 different districts and one of them only can be the winner in the end. The Story is based around Katniss Everdeen, A girl in district 12 who's younger sister Primrose is selected for the Hunger Games but she volunteers herself and replaces her sister in this dangerous games, and her journey in this dangerous games and how she copes with danger all around her in The Hunger Games.
The Acting by the whole ensemble cast is very good and everyone has done their own job very well and have portrayed their characters brilliantly, But the stand-out performer was Jennifer Lawrence as Katniss Everdeen as she portrays her character brilliantly and she was a brilliant pick for this character because she had all that it took to perfectly play this character. Her acting skills are very good and she is a really potential star on the rise. Stanly Tucci does a great job as the eccentric Caesar Flickerman who is TV presenter and Tucci has a small role in this movie but he really plays his character very well. Woody Harrelson and Josh Hutcherson also do there roles very well and their characters in this movie are quite significant and they do not disappoint. The Other Actors have done their part very well and the acting in this movie is very good.
The Director Gary Ross has done a brilliant job in making this movie and he implemented this interesting story and concept brilliantly and made a very good fantasy movie and he has done a marvelous job with his acting crew which is mostly a bit in-experienced. He was also a screen-writer in this movie and wrote a very good story for the movie which is unique and interesting in its own way and Ross did well by implementing the story written by Collins and he wrote good dialogues and took out the crucial parts and he implemented the story very well in the movie. Billy Ray and Suzanne Collins also were screen-writers and Ross along with them wrote a perfect story to start this franchise which is expected to be the next big franchise.
The Cinematography in the movie is quite good and all these new districts shown in the movie are really good and the Capitol was shown brilliantly too along with the area where the Hunger Games took place and the cinematographer Tom Stern did a very good job with the cinematography of this movie. The Special Effects were very good too and all these futuristic things shown in the movie were brilliantly shown and the special effects team did very well with all these action scenes and all the futuristic things shown. The Art Direction of this movie also was quite good as the Capitol, the districts and area where The Hunger games took place were made up brilliantly by the Art Direction team. The Background score of this movie is also quite good and the music is synchronised well with the scenes in this movie and music director James Newton Howard has done a good job with the music.
This movie has really set the tone for the upcoming movies to come for this highly anticipated and expected trilogy and with great acting and with actions and entertainment Guaranteed, this movie can be enjoyed by any audience.
My Rating: 7.5/10
The Dark Knight Rises (2012)
Simply Amazing and Thank You To Chris Nolan!
So Today I watched the Dark Knight Rises(Most Probably the most awaited move of 2012) 1st day 1st show and i was simply starstruck. Here is how I thought it was: Dark, Brilliantly Put Together due to a mixture of excellent acting by the cast and direction by the Brilliant Christopher Nolan and Highly Entertaining throughout the movie, The Dark Knight Rises probably lives up to its huge expectations and it ensures that the Batman series fan enjoy this movie as much as any other Batman movies due to the sheer brilliant work by Chris Nolan and his acting crew and also his other technical staff which make this for me the best summer movie of this year.
The Acting by the whole crew to be honest is brilliantly done by each and every member of the crew regard-less of how big/small his or her role is. Christian Bale as Batman was classic as always and he has perfected this role of Batman and this is probably his best performance as Batman in this franchise and he suited well with his fellow actors in this movie and gave a great performance! Anne Hathaway as Catwoman was actually quite brilliant and she has done an excellent job as the cunning Selina Kyle who is always looking to do mischivious things and she has a significant role in the movie which she plays very well. The Trio of Gary Oldman, Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Marion Cotillard had small roles in comparison to the earlier two, but their roles were important and Oldman was class as always and Joseph always does excellent things with Nolan and the same saying goes for Marion who is excellent as Miranda Tate. Michael Caine has perfected the role of Alfred(Batman's butler) to perfection and his performance in this movie is amazing as always! Last But not the least, I simply loved the Performance of Tom Hardy as the menacing villain known as Bane! His voice was quite different and scary and his acting is top class as always and he really gives the audience the feeling that he is a dangerous villain for Batman and Tom has really impressed me with this performance.
The Direction by Chris Nolan in this movie is just sheer brilliance by the man who is proving to be the best director of his generation with every movie he makes, and with the pressure of The Dark Knight, he does not disappoint Batman fans with this master-piece which will ensure all that is needed for a Great movie such as the excellent Acting, the beautiful and superb cinematography and also the perfect music by Hans Zimmer and Nolan puts all these things perfectly into place to make another master-piece to his cabinet of classic movies. Hats off to this great man, he is improving with each and every movie and deserves an Oscar sooner rather than later.
The Story of this film was written by Chris Nolan and David S. Goyer and the screen-play which is written by Chris and Jonathan Nolan, is now 8 years after the menacing Joker terrorized Gotham City and after Batman was accused for Killing Harvey Dent, Gotham is now terrorized by the evil Terrorist Bane who is looking to destroy the city along with his army of men and Batman must stop the menacing Bane from destroying Gotham along with putting his own personal fears aside him. Bane is a very cunning and intelligent villain who is both Brawny and Brainy and he becomes a terror for Batman who comes to Gotham City's aid after 8 years, but he also has to deal with the Catwoman in his journey to stop Bane from destroying Gotham. The Story at times was a bit predictable but nonetheless it was a story with twists and turns and ensures total entertainment and drama for the audience.
The Cinematography in this movie is absolutely breath-taking at times and the Gotham City shown in this movie is a work of brilliant camera-work and also the other places shown in the movie are breath-taking and its better in the giant screen of the movie hall. Hats of to Cinematographer Wally Pfister for his contribution in the film! The Visual Effects of the movie are also sublime as the visually enthralling scenes shown in the movie are so good specially when Batman shows of his cool gadgets. The Other aspects of the film such as Art Direction, Costume design are also very well done to make this into a quite perfect super-hero movie! The Music by Hans Zimmer is absolutely sublime from the start to the end of the movie, Zimmer synchronises the music perfectly along with each scene of the movie and is a really talented Music Director and he also done brilliant once again with Chris Nolan and again his brilliant music is shown in such a brilliant movie. Hats of to Zimmer, he is really a very very talented Music Director.
I Absolutely loved this movie from start to end, it had everything a great super-hero film needs, although it may be a bit dark and serious, a bit of comedy in times just keeps the balance of the film in check and I would recommend everyone to watch this amazing movie which is full of entertainment and twists at crucial times and I can assure all Batman fans that you wont be dis-appointed by this! My Rating: 9/10
The Amazing Spider-Man (2012)
Quite Close To Amazing!
Well So After Some Expectation of this and getting mixed reviews about it, I finally watched The Amazing Spiderman today and here's what I Thought about it. Entertaining, Well Acted and Smartly Directed with Good action and Very good Visual Effects, along with a dazzling Emma Stone and a Cool Spidey, this movie is bound to entertain audience and its a very good start to this new reboot of the series, and it has everything in it starting from Action to Acting to Visual Effects and Storyline which is mostly due to the hard work of Director Mark Webb and also due to great efforts from the leading actors.
The Story of this movie is probably known by any comic book/superhero fan but this is a whole new start to the Spiderman franchise and the film-makers have made quite a few drastic but effective changes in this movie which can make it better than its previous one. So it again shows how Peter Parker(Now played by Andrew Garfield) becomes Spider-man and also develop a crush for Gwen Stacy(Emma Stone) along with showing us some of his cool moves and also defeating the dangerous Lizard/Curt Connors( Rhys Ifans) in the way to save New York City.
The Acting by the leading actors are quite effectively good and the new Spidey aka Andrew Garfield has done a marvelous job in portraying Spider-man, And i personally love this Spider-Man more than Toby's Spiderman. Garfield has played this Super-hero very cool-ly and has done his everything to entertain audience right from when he becomes Spider- man and I think He's surely gonna become a fan-favourite for this. Emma Stone was Dazzling as Gwen Stacy and played the love-life of Peter Parker Brilliantly with her charismatic and good acting and she surely does justice to this character and I really loved her in this role. Rhys Ifans is quite a brilliant actor and he again does very well in this movie as Curt Connors/Lizard and he does both the positive and negative part of this character brilliantly.
Director Mark Webb who incidentally himself has the title ''Webb'' has done an excellent job with the start of this new series and has set the right tone for this new super-hero franchise. He Did Brilliantly with all aspects of this film starting from Acting to Visual Effects also convincingly telling the story to the audience and the movie always has some entertainment in it so that it does'nt bore the audience. He has made a really good super-hero film and not those drab only action one's. Well Done to him and I expect good things from him in the future.
The Visual Effects of this movie is'nt as good as The Avengers but its still very good and the effects of Spidey Flying around and jumping through the streets of New York city sometimes are really fascinating and really breathtaking at times, so I guess the Visual effects team deserve some credits for putting all their hard-work into this movie. I Thought the Editing was a bit bad and some parts of the movie would have been better not showed.
The Story of this movie has a all new kind of a tone to it than the Last Spider-Man and this also has some new characters to it and that makes it more interesting, and this story of Spiderman vs Lizard was shown on the screen quite well by the director and I hope that the next part will be better if not as good as this.
This is not exactly ''Amazing'' buts its quite close to it, And with the cool Garfield as Spider-Man and A Good Villain along with the dazzling Emma Stone, this one will definitely entertain all kind of movie lovers and specially comic books fan should also go for this one, Because i liked it very much.
My Rating: 7.5/10
Men in Black³ (2012)
Excellent Comeback to the series after a dismal 2nd part.
Highly Entertaining, Visually Thrilling, Good Comedy at times along with great acting and good direction, Men In Black 3 is a real roller-coaster ride which will entertain you from the start to the end along with some good action, extremely visually stunning scenes, some good MIB style action along with great acting by the duo of Will Smith and Josh Brolin which make this a must-watch for MIB fans, me in particular rating this more than the last part.
The Story is known by most of movie lovers, about a special agent team called Men In Black who hunt down aliens living in the earth and keep the earth protected from these dangerous aliens, and in this part a new alien called Boris The Animal is a real danger for the MIB team as he time travels back in time to kill Agent K and destroy the earth, so Agent J must go back in time in order to save the world from Alien Invasion and in he re-unites with a young Agent K in the past and with him tries to take down the alien.
The Acting as I said was very good indeed mostly due to the new duo of Will Smith and Josh Brolin who appear in most of the movie, and these two actors compliment each other really well, as they have done a fine job as Young Agent K(Brolin) and Agent J(Smith). Will is as always a extremely funny comedian with his character being a real humorous one, and has again done a marvelous job as Agent K doing the character again after almost a decade! Josh Brolin also does a marvelous job as the younger Agent K and its almost as if he's the young Tommy Lee Jones in this movie, such a great portrayel of Agent K's character by him. The Other actors have also done a decent job in their character portrayels, But i would have loved it if Tommy Lee Jones was shown a bit more.
Director Barry Sonnenfeld returns with another of this hit franchise after a 10 year gap after MIB 2 was'nt that good but he made sure that the 3rd part was a great one and did it spendidly as the acting by the duo is absolutely top class and he has shown all these time-travels, fights with super aliens so well yet again that it almost you're inside the movie at times and don't want it to end at times, its just that much entertaining at certain parts. Really Liked his direction in this movie, its quite evident he put a lot of hard work on it, and he deserves a praise for his huge contribution in this movie.
Well MIB 2 was'nt that good and i did'nt like it, But this has brought back that entertainment of the MIB series and the story in this one is quite interesting, with all these time-travelling and the cast was chosen superbly i must say, and the writers assured that an entertainment filled 100 mins was assured for the audience of all ages. The Visual team has made a huge contribution in this movie being so popular, and at times you just get mesmerized at how good the visual effects are! I loved that Time-Travelling bits in the movie and all those actions scene's are absolutely top class stuff. Hats off to the visual team, they have done another great job!
I Must say MIB 3 is whole load better than MIB 2 which i did'nt like that much, and with the inclusion of Josh Brolin makes the movie better and Smith has done another marvelous job as he always does, and a really good story along with excellent visual effects and great job by the director will assure that audience of all sizes enjoy this movie and fans of the series will definitely like it.
My Rating: 7.5/10
Osmosis Jones (2001)
Worth Time-pass because of its story.
Good Animation, Nicely Voiced and With An Interesting Story, Osmosis Jones is a mediocre unique type of a animated movie which is good for time-pass and can entertain you with its mind-boggling but unique and satirical story about the human body along with nice Voice acting by Chris Rock(who was very good) and Lawrence Fishburne and decent effort from the directors Bobby and Peter Farrelly.
The Story is quite unique about the body of Frank Detorre and what takes place in his body which is full of oily and harmful junk food which he consumes on a daily basis, and how the protective cells in the human body fight to destroy the bacteria and virus's which come into the body through the food. The Main Character is Osmosis Jones(Chris Rock), who is a cop cell who always manages to run into trouble and harm Frank's body and he tries to become famous by defeating the harmful virus which wants to kill Frank with his partner Thrax(Fishburne).
The Voice acting by the lead actors are very good and they have successfully synchronised their voices with their characters and helped in making the characters look very real! Chris Rock and Laurence Fishburne have done a good job along with William Shatner. They Really put in their best efforts to make their respective characters look real and the characters they've voiced for are the most entertaining of the lot. The Others have also done a decent job in giving voice of these interesting cells and virus's.
The Directors Bobby and Peter Farrelly have done an okay-ish job with their crew and have done and tried their best to make this movie very good, but it has its flaws, but you have to give them credit for doing their best. They did a good job with the voicing of the characters and helping the actors blend in with their characters and have made this movie a good one for time-pass.
The Story of this movie is quite unique and its a good satirical dig at what happens inside the human body and they have tried to show the importance of these protective cells in destroying the virus's and helping us keep healthy and from getting diseases. The Writer Marc Hyman has done a great job in making this uniquely good script and because of the story this movie is quite worth the watch and worth your time.
The Animation team has done a great job in showing all these protective cells and them destroying the virus's and how they ''live'' inside the human body and the animation is spot on in this movie and the animation team has really done their best in giving the audience a good time with this entertaining animation and these interesting characters.
Well, if your quite bored and have nothing to do, you can try and watch this movie for time-pass and you will find it quite decent with its interesting story and colourful characters, but if your looking for a serious movie, pass this.
My Rating: 6.3/10
21 Jump Street (2012)
Entertaining, Funny and Great For Time-Pass.
Well Acted, Quite Funny along with nice action and boosted with the great chemistry of Channing Tatum and Jonah Hill, who really mix up well together in the screen and good effort from the director in making a Good Comedy-Action movie which can really entertain you throughout the movie along with some laughs and acts from the duo.
The Story is about A nerd guy Schmidt(Jonah) and a smart and muscular guy Jenko(Tatum) who don't go quite well together at high school but then become best friends when they meet up at the police academy and decide to help each other in passing all the test and therefore become police officers together, but get assigned to an undercover mission after a mistake, and are assigned to arrest a drug-dealer in a high- school where they are assigned to go in as students and arrest the dealer, and the movie is about how they become better friends during the mission and what they experience throughout it.
The Acting by Jonah Hill and Channing Tatum is the reason why this movie so entertaining and enjoyable and worth watching. Their chemistry in the movie is quite brilliant as they blend in together with their characters which really suite them and give extremely entertaining performances. The Rest of the cast has also done a good job in making this movie quite entertaining and funny and I really liked the acting by Ice Cube and Johnny Depp's cameo role.
The Directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller have done a very good job with using his mediocre acting cast in this movie quite brilliantly(specially the duo of Tatum and Hill) and have done very well in making them give great performances in their characters and they have utilised the funny and action-packed story very well to entertain the audience to a great extent. They have done a good job in not letting it be another of those illogical comedies and have given that extra-something with that action in the movie.
The Story written by Jonah Hill and Michael Bacall which is based on a television show is quite entertaining and funny along with some nice and funny action and i thought some of the dialogues were great and it is backed up with some great acting by the cast and funny dialogues and good action.
Well, This movie is a great one for all the comedy-action lovers and if you want entertainment and comedy along with some nice action you can really enjoy this as it is well acted as the acting duo have done a convincing job in entertaining the audience and along with some funny dialogues and a really entertaining story, this is a great one for time- pass.
My Rating 7/10
The Avengers (2012)
Visually Mesmerizing and Definitely worth the watch!
So After Months of waiting for it and getting some excellent reviews about it, I Finally went to see The Avengers at the Movie Theatres and Here is how i felt it was.
Exciting, Visually Mesmerizing and Very Well Acted and Directed, The Avengers is superb to any movie lover and is full entertainment from the start, and the brilliant Visual Effects, the great acting by the whole cast who really justify their characters and some great Direction by Joss Whedon just makes it even better and worth the watch and great entertainment throughout the watch.
The Story which is quite reknown is based on the comics named as the same, with the 6 Superhero's coming together to make an Alliance and defeat the villain Loki The Brother of Thor, who's mission is to rule the whole world and with some help of his alien friends, he gets very powerful to really test the Avengers.
The Acting by the whole cast is quite superb, and every person have done their character justice by portraying these Superhero's very well, But i thought Robert Downey Jr as Iron Man, Jeremy Renner as Hawkeye and Tom Hiddleton as Loki really took the cake as they were quite excellent in portraying their characters. Robert Downey was his quite arrogent self as the Iron Man, Renner again gives a powerful performance as the Hawkeye and Tom Hiddleton is really good and cunning enemy who is also quite influential and powerful. The Humour by the characters are also quite good and it really does'nt let the movie go bland.
The Direction by Joss Whedon in this movie is quite superb, as he has done a convincing job in making one of the best 3d movies in the past year with excellent 3D Effects, Great Acting by each and everyone in the cast which he helped in, and the shots taken in the movie(specially in the last battle in Manhatten) are really breathtaking and for that the Cinematographer Seamus McGarvey also deserves his due credit for giving us such breathtaking scenes, but Whedon has really made one of the best Visually Enthralling and one of the better Superhero movies of all time. He Does'nt let the movie go bland or boring by keeping the humour coming in, and with fight scenes in good times, he really has entertained the audience.
The Story of course which is known by many comic fans is quite great and the Screenwriter who is also Joss Whedon and the derivers from the comics Whedon and Zak Penn have taken an interesting and gripping story which has ensure in entertaining the audience throughout the movie and really keeping you at the edge of your seat.
The Visual effects and the 3D effects, as I said earlier are quite simply superb and one of the better 3d movies of the past year, and the 3d effects in all of the fighting scene's are really breathtaking and hats off to the visual team for doing such a great job with the visual effects which make this movie so good. The Music of the movie is quite good too and really sets the tone in the atmosphere of the movie and I really liked the background score, so Music Director Alan Silvestri also deserves his due credit for his contribution towards this movie, and the contribution by each staff really needs appreciation.
This Movie really deserves a watch by anyone who likes entertaining movies and really deserves to be Seen in 3D, and this is one of the better superhero and 3d movies of the past time, and this really is a bright sign to the great summer blockbusters to come in the near future.
8/10
Cape Fear (1991)
De Niro's Acting Scares Me And Scorsese has made another Gem.
Thrilling, Chilling along with some superb directing and acting specially by Robert De Niro, Cape fear is definitely a spine-tingling thriller which will keep you at the edge of your seat, mostly due to the Superb acting by the cast and specially by the Terrifying De Niro who has done a superb job in his role and some Excellent Direction as ever by Martin Scorsese who produces yet another gem of a movie.
The Story of this thriller is about A Convicted Psychopath Rapist Max Cady, who after serving a 14 year sentence comes back to torture the family of the lawyer who defended him and makes life terrifying for his family and him and is really obsessed with making them and the lawyer pay for his sins. Max Cady is definitely one of the most terrifying characters in cinema, and his character was justified by the superb De Niro.
The Acting by the whole cast is superb, all the actors including Nick Nolte and Jessica Lange as the Lawyer and his wife and their daughter Danielle(Juliette Lewis) have done a great job in their roles and have really perfected the portrayel of their characters, BUT Robert De Niro really takes the cake with his portrayel of the Dangerous Psychopath Max Cady who is obsessed with taking revenge against the family of Sam Bowden(Nick Nolte) and De Niro has really imperfected the character through his extraordinary acting skills and deadly expressions and dialogue delivery and really scares the audience in many times.
The Direction by Martin Scorsese is as good as ever as he has yet again produced a master-piece with De Niro, and has done a magnificent job in making the movie. He Helped all the experienced actors give excellent performances in their respective roles and yet again has made De Niro give a superb performance under him and really has perfected in the other aspects of the film such as the Music, Direction in harsh areas. He Has really imperfected the use of the story and has made one of the best thrillers which will literally give you chills and with the help of his old friend De Niro and the other great actors, he really has added another gem to his treasury.
The Story of the movie which is based on the novel(The Executioners) written by John. D Macdonald, and the screenplay is done by James R Webb and Wesley Strick, is really great showing the obsession towards the family of this dangerous Psychopath who can literally do anything to make life miserable for the lawyers family, and great job to both the Author and the screen writers for doing such a fine job with the story.
The Music which is another Scorsese classic really sets the tone for the movie and really helps to the atmosphere of the movie with its chilling like music and great job from music directors Elmer Bernstein and Bernard Herrmann for doing such a fine job with the music for the movie.
This Movie really is one of the better thrillers in the history of Cinema, which will keep you at the edge of your chills, and De Niro's acting will ensure the chills to run down your spine, and Martin Scorsese just makes the even better with his marvelous direction as always and has made another superb movie.
My Rating: 8/10
Chronicle (2012)
Unreal!
Entertaining, Visually Stunning, Fast-Paced and Well Directed and acted, Chronicle is a superb sci-fi movie which is very fast paced, precise and to the point with stunning visually effects and great acting and is what it is much due to the excellent work by Director/Writer Josh Trank who has done a great job in making one of the most unique movies of the year.
The Story is about 3 friends, Andrew, Steve and Matt who are socially awkward or nerds who make a discovery in a cave which gives them super- human powers or telekinisis which at first they have fun with but as the movie goes on Andrew becomes obsessed with the power he has and goes dark during the course of the movie, which proves to be havoc for the city he lives in and his friends.
The Acting by the young cast is superb and they have precisely done all of their respective roles very well, and its good to see a movie without a big star being such a fine movie. Dane DeHaan specially has done a solid job in the role of Andrew, who is a tricky character to play and he has really justified the character with a great performance, and also Alex Russell has done a fine job in portraying Matt, the cousin of Andrew who also becomes a super-human with him and makes a special bonding while the time.
The Direction of this kind of a fast-paced, visually stunning movie is really superb by director Josh Trank, knowing the fact that the movie was displayed on a Hand-Held video camera, and he has also done a great job in guiding these young actors to perfect their roles, and also a great job in utilizing the great and unique story which is also partly written by him greatly by making one of the best sci-fi movies of the year and definitely an entertaining one which will keep the audience glued to their seats.
The Visual Effects in the movie are simply stunning and some of the scenes shown such as they clouds in which they are flying and more are superb and great effort from the visual team to make this extremely delightful visual effects. The Story written by both Josh Trank and Max Landis is quite unique and great showing how the obsession of power can make a simple nerd do all the wrong things. Landis has also done a good job with the screenplay of the movie.
Finally, this movie is definitely one of the best of 2012, and great visual effects, acting and direction along with a gripping and entertaining story will surely ensure the audience to really love this movie and watch it without any hesitation.

There Will Be Blood (2007)
Excellent All Around!
Dark, Depressing and Thought-Provoking, This Masterpiece is based on an extremely Shrewd, Powerful, Terrifying performance of a complicated character perfected by an extraordinary Daniel Day-Lewis who has given one of the best performance of the decade, along with excellent direction by an extremely talented Paul Thomas Anderson, who has also done a great job in the screenplay of the story, There Will Be Blood is a real Dark Masterpiece on an extremely complicated character perfected by Day-Lewis and through sheer hard and excellent work by Director Paul Thomas Anderson.
The Story of the movie is quite Unique, about an Oil Prospector named Daniel Plainview, and how he gets obsessed with Money,Power and Greed after getting to know he can get hold of all the important oil mines in the country, while alienating friends and making his relationship with all the ''friends or family' he has in his way to being rich and in his continued obsession of money and power. Quite An Unique and terrifying character showing us about how the oil dealers really were and what greed of money and power can do to a Human Being.
Well I Really Don't Know what I have to say of Day-Lewis's performance here. He is just quite extraordinary in his role of Daniel Plainview, which is an extremely complicated and difficult character to portray, but he has done an excellent job in perfecting the role of this character, and his acting is just top class throughout the movie, at times it really overshadows the other things in the movie, and this really has to be one of the best performances of the decade and one of the most powerful I Have Seen In My Life. Paul Dano is also extremely good in his character of Paul Sunday who is a priest, and his character is just the opposite of Plainview's character, and their chemistry is just sparkling. Dano has done his character justice by giving a really great performance. The Other actors in the movie(specially the child of Plainview) have also done a really good job in making this movie an extremely well acted and portrayed film.
Absolutely Sublime Work from Paul Thomas Anderson in this movie, and this was also his debut work, and he has done an amazing job in showing the life and rise of Daniel Plainview perfectly, so well that at times I was thinking i was in the characters time and not in the 21st century! He really has done the movie justice by perfecting the direction, helping the inexperienced actors specially Dano give excellent performances, helping the staff in their work, and he really is a excellent director and needs to be appreciated. Top Marks to him for making such an excellent film.
The Story Written by Upton Sinclair is quite excellent and unique, and he has done a great job in describing how Greed,Money and Power can do things to a Human Being(here being Daniel Plainview) and how he can do such terrible and dirty things to achieve what he really wants. Paul Thomas Anderson has done an extremely good job in the screen writing of the movie, and he really is multi-talented! The Cinematography in the movie is just sublime! The Cinematographer has done an amazing job in showing the times of Plainview and I was practically blown away by some of the breathtaking scenes in the movie! Top Marks to him! The Music throughout the movie is excellent and keeps the atmosphere in the movie in check, and top marks to John Greenwood in giving an excellent background score to the movie, specially the music in the ending credits.
Well I Really cant understand why This was only appreciated for its acting and cinematography, this is really a near perfect film and Paul Thomas Anderson needed to get more accolades for this, but anyways in my books this will remain an extremely powerful film and superb bio-pic based on a extremely complicated and shrewd character, and I recommend it to every good movie lover.
Kahaani (2012)
What A Kahaani!
So After Getting Many Great Recommendations from people all over, I Finally saw Kahaani today, and I was very Impressed with what i saw in the coming time. Dark And Thrilling with twists all around, along with yet another masterful performance from Vidya Balan as the leading actress and the vocal point of the movie having the movie revolve around her character and good supporting acting from the rest of the cast(Specially Sasawata Chatterjee and Parambrata Chatterjee), a gripping story with many twists and turns along with great work from Director and Screenwriter Sujoy Ghosh, Kahaani is one of the rare ''thrillers' in bollywood and definitely one of the best(if not the best) which has the excellent story, superb acting and great direction which will keep the audience glued to the movie.
The Story is about a pregnant woman named Vidya(Vidya Balan) arriving at Kolkata from London to find her husband who has been missing for quite a time, and how she discovers clues that lead closer to trying to find her husband after not getting any answers about him, with help from Rana(Parambrata),but her secrets and the case's secrets are revealed as the story moves along.
The Acting By Vidya Balan is yet again Masterful and she again proves that she is the best actress in Bollywood Right now with a perfect portrayel of a complicated character and she makes it look so easy with her great acting skills! The Rest of the cast specially Sasawata Chatterjee does an excellent and spooky job as Bob Biswas, along with a good supporting role by Parambrata Chatterjee as Rana,The Police Officer. The Rest of The Cast also do there jobs quite well.
The Direction by Sujoy Ghosh is also excellent as he shows Kolkata superbly in this movie and more importantly does an even better job in making the movie what it is and has made one of the best movies of bollywood in this year. He Also has written the screenplay for this movie which is great and gripping with its turn of twists, and has written one of the better stories which he has utilized brilliantly through his direction.
The Cinematography is also quite good as the cinematographer does a convincing job in showing the beautiful city of Kolkata excellently.
Finally, this is one of the best movies I've Seen this year, gripping and thrilling with great acting, and this is definitely a must watch!
My Rating: 8.2/10
Slumdog Millionaire (2008)
Jai Ho!
Emotional, Disturbing and Triumphant, this is what it is mostly due to the excellent piece of work by Danny Boyle for his effort in making this film with inexperienced actors in a tough location and showing a life of a slum kid, along with decent acting by the ensemble cast, each portraying their character brilliantly and a good, bold and true story with some excellent background music being the cherry on the top.
The Story is about a slum kid named Jamal, and the movie shows how Jamal gets a chance in a competition named ''Who Wants to be a Millionaire',and being a slum kid, amazingly going on to win the big prize and answering all the questions. But in his journey to find his answers for this questions, the movie shows his life starting from his village to going around places with his brother and again returning to Mumbai in search of his lady love(Latika), but again parting ways with her due to a fight with his brother(Salim), but how he amazingly again finds to meet her when he becomes an adult, and then miraculously manages to win the competition. The Story is taken from a novel written by Vikas Swarup.
The Acting from the ensemble cast is very good mostly due to their guidance coming from Boyle, but every character ranging from the kids to the main actors have done their own roles perfectly. But In My Opinion, the younger and teenage versions of Jamal,Latika and Salim were probably the best actors in the movie, along with great performances from Anil Kapoor and Irfan Khan. The Other actors also did their respective roles perfectly.
Danny Boyle has a hell of a job with this film, taking mostly inexperienced kids in the first half of the film and making them act brilliantly, also helping inexperienced actors like Patel and Pinto do their jobs excellently, and has also done a great job showing us the dark side of Mumbai and the slums of Mumbai and also showing how they can try and have such a fun life even though they are slum kids quite brilliantly, and this is probably his best work till date. He Is Bold in making this type of a movie with a very low budget and turning it into an Oscar winner and he really shows his great talents in this movie.
The Story written by Vikas Swarup is excellent and bold showing the dark side of Mumbai and how they can have such a fun life even though they are slum kids, they can rarely eat food and have to earn money by selling some items, and he has written an excellent story revealing the ''real India' perfectly. The Screenwriter Simon Beaufoy has done a good job in adapting the story from the novel and making it easy for the crew in making this film. The Cinematography in the film is also very good in showing the slums of Mumbai, and revealing some breathtaking scenery's in Mumbai and going into places no other director/crew can go into, and full marks to the cinematographer Anthony Dod Mantle for showing us excellent scenes of Mumbai.
The Background Music of the film is just superb, and A.R Rahman has done a superb job in giving the suitable music for this film along with great songs such as '"Jai Ho!', ''Ringa Ringa' Etc etc,and has benchmarked himself as one of the best composers in the world today, and also good job from the other sound crew in making this into a great film with excellent music.
This is really a great and bold film due to sheer brilliance of Danny Boyle, along with the decent acting from the whole cast, a great story and excellent music to sum it all up, this really is a must watch for a movie lover.

Paan Singh Tomar (2012)
One Of The Better Movies Of Bollywood.
Boosted By An Excellent Performance by Irfan Khan and the rest of the cast, and a meaningful and good story, Pan Singh Tomar is one of the better bollywood movies which has great performances from the cast, a great story which is worth telling, and Irfan Khan just makes it better with his excellent portrayel of his character.
The Story is about a Daku(Dacoit)(Irfan) who was actually a soldier who fought for his country and could give it all for his country who then became a runner and wins gold medal at the Indian national games, but is forced to become a Dacoit after being neglected and insulted by the Police, and his mission is to rebel and defy the police department.
Irfan Khan is one of the few Hollywood worthy actors in bollywood, and probably the best at what he does, he yet again shows his excellent acting qualities in this movie by giving an excellent performance as Paan Singh Tomar, and he has shown the change of his character from a strict soldier to a notorious dacoit with utmost skill. The Rest of the cast also does a very good job in making this into a very well acted movie.
The Director does a decent job in making this film into one of the sensible movies made in bollywood, and good job from him for giving Irfan a perfect role in the movie. The Story which is based on a true story about the same man, is great and shows how many extremely talented athletes in India are neglected by the government and how they can become notorious at times.
Overall this movie is great due to mainly an excellent performance by Irfan Khan and a great story, to make this into one of the better movies of 2012 till now.
