Kurradu (2009)
A Thorough Disappointment
This is a remake of Tamil film Polladhavan, and it's not necessary that what works for the Tamil audience could work here as well. Even at the end of the film one's left wondering as to what made the filmmaker name the movie Kurradu. The Kurralloy Kurrallu is not even half as exciting. The movie begins in a slow pace and concentrates on how the hero is pining for a bike. The girl follows next but since we have seen this part of the yearning in Ramesh Verma's Ride the plot doesn't enthuse.
It's a story of a lower middle class guy who is looking to fulfill three goals in life, possessing a bike, a girl and taking over the father's responsibility. He does at one stage, loses all of them and then regains it. While the first two parts of the story goes on predictable lines, the third part is excruciatingly painful to watch. All blood, gore and crunching of bones.
Ali comes in for no reason at all and makes a jester of himself. At one stage the plot that runs around two brothers, the goons looks far more interesting than Varun's. This movie if at all helps anyone it does for Varun Sandesh as it can be viewed as his entry as a complete mass hero. The slim lad is in a hurry to fill in the gaps and satisfy his appetite as a tough cookie.
If there is one guy who has the looks and potential amongst the current crop of heroes it's Varun Sandesh, just when you are thinking he's going safely on love stories and family dramas, acquired a bit of a following he jumps into movies like this that is not appropriate for him at this stage. The plot doesn't suit him at all. One or two fights is okay but a painfully thin character who has no mass image at all, gets hit by a sword in the front and back and continues till the end didn't spell macho-ism at all.
The movie ends on an abrupt note but not before confirming that even the director who made his debut has chosen something tried, tested. Neha Sharma is ravishing, Varun Sandesh looks lost and the dialogues don't make an impact. If at all something that catches your attention momentarily are the conflicting scenes between the two brothers and how the younger brother eliminates his sibling. A thorough disappointment.
Aloo Chaat (2009)
Sweet Romantic Comedy but the ENDING spoils it....
Well,If you want to see a movie with your entire family then this is it...this is a movie for you...
Aloo Chaat is sweet light hearted romantic comedy..starring Aftab and débutant Aamna...The thing I liked about the movie is that it has got a really good feel about it...You will not be bored at any point...and the fact that its running time is 1 hr 56 mins helps...
But I have just one problem with the movie and that is its ending(climax)...that just spoils it...
So to summarize i would say that i liked Robby Grewal's previous movie MP3 much more than this..but Aloo Chaat is not that bad either... I'll give it a 7/10 mainly because its a family entertainer...
