This movie was a complete waste of time, watched with my family and the best part was guessing wich over used holiday cliche would be used next. Had way to much child death for what was supposed to be a light hearted Christmas romance. Romanticized cheating on your partner and allllll of this would have been forgivable if it had a satisfying ending witch spoiler alert it did not. The setting and town used for filmning were gorgeous but there was to much going on. To be honest I'm just glad the didn't dog die because that's what's keeping this rating at a two, practically carried the whole movie and he barely had a part in the plot.

A review from my 10 year old son: It was extremely exiting and suspenseful. For sure the highlight of my week. One of my favorite movies ever. I loved the plot turns and the special effects. I also loved scrapper the Jäger. The soundtrack was amazing!!! I also liked that Newt was being controlled! Also I enjoyed that Mount Fuji was the plot device. I also loved the character Mrs. Shao.
Fireman Sam
(1987–2024)
Good for little kids who love firefighters
3 December 2013
I watched most episodes of this show with my son when he was 3 and 4 years old. While I loved the earlier stop motion version of Fireman Sam, my son roundly rejected it, instead preferring the shiny computer animated episodes. I think the computer animation lacks a little soul, but my son loved them.
My son was very interested in firefighting, and this is one of the few shows for little kids on the topic. So he loved watching it. The show was fairly entertaining for me.
Norman Price is the world's worst role model for a little kid. That said, he's so awful that my kids mostly griped about what an awful kid he is. That gave us a good starting point to talk about behavior.

Mighty Machines
(1994–2008)
My son and I love to watch Mighty Machines together
2 December 2013
My 4 year old son and I love watching Mighty Machines together. It's really interesting to see how machines function in a variety of industries. The machine voices seem cheesy at first, but it's a really engaging way to present the informational content to small kids.
My favorite episode is the one where they show snow removal in major Canadian cities. It's astounding to see how much work, how many machines, and what unique infrastructure are needed to keep a city that size working in the snowy weather.
The only negative that I have for this show is that it was pretty boring for my daughter who is only 2 and a half and who is much less interested in mechanical processes.
My son's favorite part are the funny voices and seeing how the machines work. Overall, I love this show. It's educational, and it's interesting for kids and adults.

Transformers: Rescue Bots

All the fun of giant transforming robots without the mega-violence
20 November 2013
We watched this show with a 4 year old obsessed with fire fighters. It was a great transitional show for him. As a parent, I thought the messages in the show were pretty positive. I also appreciate that they had cool mega robots that weren't engaged in violent activity. My son liked the plot, the characters (both robot and kid) and most of all, the giant transforming robots.
Pros:
Cons:
Pros:
- No serious guns or violence
- Giant transforming robots
- Functional family themes
Cons:
- Would have liked to see more use of the female characters
- The toys that accompany the series certainly encourage consumerism.
