Love & Jane (2024)
Jane
If you are a Jane Austen fan, you will really enjoy this movie. It's a little quirky at times, but it has the imagination, allure & romanticism of Jane Austen at her best. In modern day, a frustrated writer, who is inspired, and at times, obsessed, by Jane Austen's work, struggles with her own life, friends & aspirations. A book club, a book store, and a small group of friends, real and imaginary, are the fabric of a sweet, intriguing story line. Imagine! If only! What if? Like a Jane Austen novel, this movie opens doors to possibilities. I wasn't really crazy about the choice of the male lead, but if you can get past that it's quite enjoyable.
A Crime (2006)
It certainly is a crime
"A Crime"
A crime that they actually made this into a movie that had virtually no plot, made no sense and had no ending. Made sense in the beginning made no sense in the end. Harvey Kartel's body is in great shape, for an old man. And I like Harvey, usually. Takes place in New York City in the worst areas possible. It's dark and uninteresting. Music score is so dull, as dull as the movie.
Ok... now I'm just filling space to make up the required number of characters to post a review of this sadly pointless and boring movie. Sorry, you've wasted your time reading this but worse, you may have even watched it.
That is truly a crime.
Penguin Bloom (2020)
Wonderful
A tragic story turned awe-inspiring, surrounded by love... love of family, love of nature, love of, yes, a bird. Loved it!
General Commander (2019)
Painful
His hand, gently atop the other, shows his patience & intensity for the scene. Segal style. BUT that's it. That patience is painful to watch. Slow action. Slow thoughts. (Oh ya, that part was new for his films.) Slow interaction. Slow drama. Slow everything.
Segal is my all time favorite but... he should have retired years ago. Sorry to say, I hope this is his last film. Makes me weep to see him in so weak a script.
The plot? Oh ya, there was one. No spoiler alert needed here except for the suggestion: Don't watch it!
The Last Ship (2014)
Poignant
This series was very realistic and pretty close to home at the moment as we are battling a pandemic.
Seasons 1 through 5 were absolutely fantastic. Season 6 was off the wall. Had no bearing to the rest of the series. They really should've done without it and had that last episode happen in season five.
A Ghost Story (2017)
Horrible waste of time
Slow. Really, really slow. There is very little dialogue. Spoiler alert. it's horrible. It's not a ghost story it's a pathetic story.
Jane the Virgin (2014)
Unexpectedly delightful!!!
Never in 1 million years would I have expected this to be so wonderful. They developed the characters perfectly. There is magic, love, murder, mystery, death & new life. Watching this, with its Latino culture, was an eye-opener for me. It was done was such fun, class, & inventiveness... I absolutely loved it. I've been binge watching for a week!
Enjoy! You won't regret it!!
