Principal photography began in February 2020, a month before the pandemic hit.
In January 2020, it was announced Sam Richardson had joined the cast of the film and would serve as a producer, with Josh Ruben to direct.
Originally released by Ubisoft in December 2016, it was announced their Werewolves Within video game was being developed as a feature film in October 2018. Mishna Wolff was set to write the screenplay for the film and Ubisoft Motion Pictures would produce.
Harvey Guillén has an affiliation with other creatures of yore, as he also stars in the popular television mockumentary, What We Do in the Shadows (2019). On that show, he plays Guillermo, human familiar to a trio of vampires, most notably, to one vampire in particular, Nandor.
It is scheduled to be released in a limited release on June 25, 2021, followed by video on demand on July 2, 2021, by IFC Films.
