A moving film that perfectly captures the slow burning trauma of being a care-taking child.
It depicts beautifully the gut-wrenching false hope and optimism of living the immigrant dream in a harsh city like Toronto, while living under mental illness.
It's an immigrant story, a coming of age, a mother and daughter tale, and a love letter for theater. Art will save us in the end.
There's a small minded review complaining about this not being an entertaining film. Well I find it very entertaining to be moved. To feel the emotion that the characters portray, and share their struggles for a while.
Sanja Zivkovic and Maya Bankovic did a terrific job, as well as the rest of the cast and crew, puling this off on such a tight budget. Hats off to all of you.
