As part of a wave of revival shows, NBC's Quantum Leap has stood out as one that has forged new paths and introduced new characters while staying anchored to the original series.

With exciting adventures, an intriguing long arc narrative, and solid cast chemistry, Quantum Leap Season 1 won over fans of the 1980s series and added legions of new ones.

Speaking with TV Fanatic via Zoom, executive producer Chris Grismer answered our questions about the new season, premiering on October 4 at 8/7c.

With directing credits on shows like The Unsettling, Freakish, and The Vampire Diaries, Grismer is no stranger to the weird and wonderful world of the unknown. He was also familiar with the original Quantum Leap series before directing four episodes in Season 1 of the revival.

"I did like the original series. I wasn't an obsessive fan, but I had watched a bunch of the episodes when I was younger.

We’ve been tracking this week’s new releases all week long, with four horror movies debuting on Tuesday and two more debuting on Thursday. Believe it or not, we’re still not done.

First up, director Erik Bloomquist (Ten Minutes to Midnight, Long Lost) is back with She Came from the Woods, an ’80s-set summer camp slasher movie that’s now playing in theaters.

We don’t yet have a home video release date, but we expect one soon.

She Came from the Woods follows “a group of counsellors who accidentally unleash an ancient evil spirit on the last night of a summer camp. As the situation turns bloody, the group is forced to confront what stories are worth telling and what secrets are worth keeping.”

Let’s hold a moment of silence for the presence wasted in writer and director Harry Owens’ feature debut, The Unsettling. Leading performances are admirable, but the tediously sluggish narrative is an ambiguous slog that culminates with the impact of a handkerchief slap. Owens’ themes feel indebted to Remi Weekes’ His House and Nikyatu Jusu’s Nanny — aligned with African horror tales on American soil — only to abandon subplot roots in a finale stricken by amnesia. The Unsettling is an unfortunate example of contemporary “Trauma Horror” trends and slow-burn A24 genre signatures, underselling both before rolling credits on what feels like unfinished business.

Abena (Zephani Idoko) and Kwame (Bambadjan Bamba) are a Ghanaian couple who’ve just suffered the loss of their daughter. Kwame books a Los Angeles vacation thanks to his friend Charley’s gracious deal on a quaint rental somewhere in the suburbs, away from tragic reminders of their lost child.

Hulu is continuing its long-running partnership with AwesomenessTV. The streamer has acquired Awesomeness horror series The Unsettling, which premiered on Friday ahead of Halloween.

The Unsettling follows 16-year-old Becca, who arrives at a foster home in a remote area, whereupon her siblings are less than welcoming -- especially the 11-year-old biological son of her foster parents. When seriously strange things start to happen, Becca becomes uncertain about who or what is responsible.

The series stars Holly Taylor, Tequan Richmond, An Li Bogan, Willow Shields, Alex Lange, Noah Grismer, Marguerite Moreau, and David Rogers -- a melange of both traditional actors and digital stars. Lange, for instance, is a burgeoning actor who also boasts a thriving presence on Instagram (2.3 million followers) and YouTube, where he shares vlogs, challenges, and short films. Lange was also an early member of Jake Paul’s creator collective Team 10, though he left that venture in Dec.

In today’s TV news roundup, NBC announced the “Making It” Season 2 premiere date and HBO Max greenlit a new docuseries from Brad Goreski and Gary Janetti.

Hosts Amy Poehler and Nick Offerman will return with the second season of “Making It” on NBC Dec. 2. After the show’s holiday season premiere, the show will continue Dec. 3-5 and Dec. 9-10 before closing with a two-hour finale on Dec. 11. “Making It” is executive produced by Poehler, Offerman, Nicolle Yaron, Kate Arend, Dave Becky and Pip Wells.

The Unsettling is now on Hulu. The streamer announced today that it had acquired the AwesomenessTV’s horror series. The title is up and running.

The series, created by Andrew Jacobsen and Adam Epstein and directed by Chris Grismer, follows 16-year-old Becca as she arrives at her new foster home located in a remote area. Her foster siblings are less than welcoming, none more so than the 11-year-old biological son of Becca’s new foster parents.

Becca tries to keep to herself and adjust to her new home, but strange things start to happen around her, and she’s is uncertain about who or what is responsible.

Holly Taylor stars as Becca, with the rest of the cast featuring Tequan Richmond, An Li Bogan, Willow Shields, Alex Lange, Noah Grismer, Marguerite Moreau and David Rogers.

The Unsettling is executive produced by Shelley Zimmerman, Rebecca Glashow, Brin Lukens, for AwesomenessTV.

The first trailer is out for the new Bet series Boomerang, co-produced by Lena Waithe and Halle Berry.

Based on the film of the same name, the series picks up roughly 25 years after the 1992 theatrical release. The subversive comedy follows the children of the original cast as they try to balance making their mark on the professional world while navigating the personal struggles of young professionals.

The first-look clip includes interviews and Bts footage with Waithe and showrunner Ben Cory Jones (HBO’s Insecure), who discuss the origins of the show and how it will look at relationships and dating in the 21st Century.

The 10-episode Boomerang half-hour series premieres Feb. 12 on Bet with Tequan Richmond & Tetona Jackson, Leland Martin and Lala Milan. The show executive produced by Halle Berry, Lena Waithe and co-produced by Bet Networks and Paramount Television.

Willow Shields (The Hunger Games) has been cast opposite Kaya Scodelario in Spinning Out, Netflix’s upcoming drama series set in the world of competitive figure skating.

Created by Samantha Stratton (Mr. Mercedes), a former competitive figure skater herself, Spinning Out centers on Kat Baker (Scodelario), an up-and-coming, high-level single skater who’s about to turn in her skates after a disastrous fall took her off the competition track. When Kat seizes an opportunity to continue her career as a pair skater with a talented bad-boy partner, she risks exposing a fiercely kept secret that could unravel her entire life. On and off the ice, Kat and her new partner will face daunting odds, injury to body and soul, financial sacrifice, and even potential mental breakdown on their way to realizing their Olympic dream.

Willow Shields has been cast in a series regular role in “Spinning Out,” the upcoming ice skating drama series at Netflix.

She joins a cast that also includes Kaya Scodelario, who was announced as the series lead on Thursday, taking over the role originally held by Emma Roberts. Shields will star as Serena, Kat Baker’s (Scodelario) younger sister. While Serena lacks her sister’s natural grace on the ice, she makes up for it with discipline and fierce determination. Her complicated relationship with her sister is made up of equal parts loyalty and competition.

Shields is best known for playing Primrose Everdeen in the “Hunger Games” film franchise. She also had a guest-starring role in the USA series “In Plain Sight,” and recently completed filming the series “The Unsettling.” She will also star in the film “A Fall From Grace” alongside Forest Whitaker, Vincent D’Onofrio, and David Lynch.

Tequan Richmond (Everybody Hates Chris) and Tetona Jackson (All Night) are set as leads in Boomerang, Bet’s reboot of the 1992 film.
