You may have first encountered Jennifer Coolidge as Stifler’s Mom in American Pie or as ditzy beautician Paulette in Legally Blonde. Or maybe your introduction came during her rise as a character actor in the early 2000s — but you’d have to live in a bougie resort far, far away to not have been delighted by the Emmy winner over the years.
Although she’s well known for her comedic roles across film and TV, Coolidge has also starred in spooky TV shows and lent her voice to family-friendly animated flicks. Her most recent is We Have a Ghost, a comedic horror film, which is streaming now. While you queue up those unearthly laughs, take a look at every Coolidge role available on Netflix.

Amazon announced on Thursday that Hello Again, the newest special from comedian Tig Notaro, will premiere on Prime Video on March 26. Check out a clip above.
Directed by Notaro’s wife, Stephanie Allynne, the special comes on the heels of her HBO hour Tig Notaro: Drawn, which made history as the first fully animated stand-up special in 2021. It’s said to be packed with delightfully awkward misunderstandings, health scares made hilarious, and family moments with her wife and children that are simultaneously sidesplitting and heartwarming.
From the “Make Believe Lounge” to the hallway outside her physical therapist’s office, Notaro finds humor in situations ranging from the everyday to the bizarre, crafting comedy out of hallucinatory text messages, a botched meeting with a Hollywood heavyweight, and a late-night encounter with a mustachioed fireman who has her questioning everything.

Tig Notaro is heading back to Amazon — and live action — for her latest comedy special. Prime Video will debut Tig Notaro: Hello Again this March.
The new hour marks Notaro’s first project at Amazon since the end of her two-season Prime Video comedy One Mississippi in 2017 and her first flesh-and-blood taping in nearly six years. Her last special, Tig Notaro: Drawn, made history as the first fully animated stand-up special when it landed on HBO in 2022.
Hello Again follows Drawn, as well as other previous specials 2018’s Happy to Be Here and 2015’s Boyish Girl Interrupted. It is described as including “delightfully awkward misunderstandings, health scares made hilarious and family moments with her wife and children that are simultaneously sidesplitting and heartwarming.”
The streamers are absolutely hammering their slates with stand-up specials this spring. Perhaps it’s just a continuation of the years-long trend or maybe it has something...

The past 24 hours have been awash in headlines about Netflix’s What We Watched report: an information dump that many analysts considered the most transparent accounting of user data that the streamer has ever released.
The report tracked user engagement using an “hours watched” metric – meaning how many hours a piece of content was viewed, as opposed to how many individual users watched it. The report is heavy with TV series because, as the company noted, the amount of hours in a TV program are much greater than that of a standalone feature. But some movies clawed to the top of the ranking, which helps indicate how films travel on the platform.
Here are the top ten films – eight of which Netflix developed or financed — that appear in the report, which tracked hours watched from January to June of 2023:

Fighting for streaming residuals has been a hard-fought sticking point for the writers and actors negotiations, but bottom-line results of the new bonus threshold may be limited.
Less than 5 percent of Netflix originals in 2022 “would have triggered performance bonuses under the new contract between the Writers Guild of America and major studios,” Bloomberg’s Lucas Shaw wrote on Sunday. The new deal between the WGA and the AMPTP (Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers) pays out performance bonuses if at least 20 percent of a streaming platform’s U.S. users consume a new original film or TV series within its first 90 days.
Shaw’s rate of 5 percent or less accounts for all Netflix original titles, he wrote — including foreign-language, animated, and unscripted programs that aren’t governed by the WGA deal. So while, say, docuseries “Murdaugh Murders: A Southern Scandal” crosses the threshold with a 30 percent share of U.

Producer Jason Blum believes what sets Five Nights at Freddy’s apart from other adaptations is “the care that was taken with the story to create something based on a beloved game.” Universal Pictures’ new featurette is dedicated to the game’s fans, and director/co-writer Emma Tammi says that every creative decision they made was with the goal of doing justice to the game and its massive fan base.
Josh Hutcherson and Elizabeth Lail lead the cast of the horror film. Piper Rubio, Kat Conner Sterling (We Have a Ghost), Mary Stuart Masterson (Blindspot), and Matthew Lillard also star.
Scott Cawthon created the Five Night at Freddy’s game and is involved as a writer and producer. Seth Cuddeback also co-wrote the screenplay, with Bea Sequeira, Russell Binder, Marc Mostman, and Christopher H. Warner executive producing. And, after years of being stuck in development hell, it appears as though the film is going to have the second-biggest debut of the fall season thus far. It is poised to become the next big horror sensation.

Based on a true story, the film follows young Jann Mardenborough (Archie Madekwe) as he gets the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to go from a video game racer to a real race car driver. It all started with Gran Turismo game creator Kazunori Yamauchi (Takehiro Hira) who got ahold of an automobile simulator and transformed it into a very real racing experience for gamers. Dreamer and Nissan marketing executive Danny Moore (Orlando Bloom) took the love for the game a step further by giving the best players a chance to go through a Gran Turismo academy to compete for the chance at racing on some of the professional courses featured in the game.

While David Harbour is appreciative of the success Stranger Things has brought him, he is ready to focus on projects for the big screen.
During an interview with Insider, published online Wednesday and conducted before SAG-AFTRA went on strike, the actor explained that a “whole new world opened up” for him after his role in 2022’s Violent Night and he wants to continue on that path.
“I’ve been on Netflix…but this was a small original movie that’s going to a cinema,” he said of the 2022 film, in which he plays Santa Clause trying to save a family held hostage on Christmas Eve. “I like this playing field. I want to make original movies that go to the movie theaters.”
Harbour has been previously open about feeling like “it’s definitely time” to move past Jim Hopper in the Duffer brothers-created show, but he’s actually ready to...

Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett resurrected the Scream franchise with two very successful installments, but it seems that they won’t be back for Ghostface’s next massacre. It was confirmed yesterday that Christopher Landon, best known for Happy Death Day, Freaky, and We Have a Ghost, had signed on to direct Scream 7.
The news that Christopher Landon would be directing Scream 7 was certainly exciting for many horror fans and the director took to Twitter (or X rather) to give his two-cents. “Just a big, heart-felt thanks to all the #scream fans for welcoming me into the fold,” Landon wrote. “Horror has been my passion all my life. I promise to do Wes,Tyler Gillett and Matt Bettinelli-Olpin proud. And of course, a massive shout out to my friend and hero Kevin Williamson. Let’s go!!!!“

Spyglass is answering the call once more, throwing a new Scream movie into development.
The company has tapped Christopher Landon — a scary movie stalwart whose credits include the Happy Death Day series as well as body-switching horror-comedy Freaky — to direct the seventh installment of the long-running franchise, multiple sources tell The Hollywood Reporter.
Landon takes over from Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett, the filmmaking team known as Radio Silence, who helmed the 2022 installment that rebooted and refurbished the movie series. The duo followed that movie, simply titled Scream, with Scream VI, which was released in March.
Bettinelli-Olpin and Gillett stepped back, in part, to focus on an original horror movie for Universal, which currently remains impacted by the actors strike. The duo, as well as third group member Chad Villella, will now act as executive producers.

Newly released Netflix docuseries “Quarterback” takes viewers on an inside look at the lives of some of the league’s most-watched players’ off the gridiron. It’s the latest example of what co-ceo Ted Sarandos called “sports-adjacent” programming on Wednesday’s earnings call, and this one scored big.
Initial viewership of the series proved that football still reigns as an American favorite, and Netflix might not need to pay up for expensive broadcasting rights to profit from the national obsession. A total of 1.1 million households tuned into the premiere episode of the series in its first five days released, according to the latest Wrap Report for the week of July 10-16.

Under the terms of the agreement, Temple Hill Entertainment will continue to develop films for the studio and its label Paramount Players. On the television side, Temple Hill remains under a first-look deal with Lionsgate.
The first-look film deal renewal comes on the heels of the critically acclaimed horror thriller “Smile,” from Paramount Pictures and Temple Hill, which earned more than $200 million at the global box office.

No “Yellowstone”? For Paramount+, that’s been no problem.
Even without one of Paramount’s best-known TV shows on its namesake streaming service, Paramount+ appeared in Whip Media’s weekly ranker of the top 10 most-streamed TV shows 36 times between January and March, more than any other streaming service during that time.
That stat comes courtesy of Whip Media’s First-Quarter Streaming Recap, which looked at how all the major SVODs performed during the first three months of the year. The analysis uses rankings based on viewership data from TV Time, Whip Media’s TV and movie tracking app with more than 25 million global registered users.

Well, well, well, that Blumhouse "Five Nights at Freddy's" movie has just locked in a release date and it's just in time for Halloween!
On October 27, 2023, "Five Nights at Freddy's" will debut both in theaters and on Peacock. Most studios are shying away from day-and-date releases now that streaming is on the downturn and people are finally coming back to theaters post-covid, but Universal Pictures still feels like feeding the beast -- this is a bad idea, as we've noted in the past -- so viewers will have their choice of watching this one on the big screen or from the comfort of their own home.
Based on the video game of the same name that has been terrifying players since it debuted in 2014, the movie will star Josh Hutcherson ("The Hunger Games") as the new night watchman at Freddy Fazbear's Pizza who realizes that the creepy, rundown animatronics might...

Blumhouse’s feature take of video game Five Nights at Freddy’s is going theatrical day and date with Peacock on Oct. 27 this year. The pic will go wide.
This is the fourth Blumhouse movie to day and date with Universal’s streaming service after Halloween Kills, Halloween Ends, and Firestarter.
While arguments can be made that these movies’ domestic ticket sales were impacted by their availability in homes, Halloween Ends opened to $40M, then shorted out at $64M. Uni had bragging rights that the threequel scored a top Nielsen debut over its opening weekend of Oct. 14-16 with 717 million minutes viewed.
Halloween Kills grossed $92M stateside after a $49.4M opening. Both Halloween Kills and Halloween Ends were under the pre-pandemic domestic grosses of the first 2018 reboot. Firestarter flamed out at the box office, making only $9.7M U.S./Canada, $15M WW.

The Mandalorian shot back onto Nielsen’s U.S. streaming charts during the week of the Season 3 premiere. The Disney+ series tallied 823M viewing minutes from February 27 to March 5, coming in at No. 5 among streaming programs.
According to Nielsen, the first episode from Season 3 generated 57% of that total, despite only being 42 minutes long.
The Star Wars spinoff series is no stranger to the Nielsen streaming Top 10, having previously made history as both the first Disney+ show to make the list and the first non-Netflix show to hit No. 1. The debut week for Season 2 saw over a billion viewing minutes across nine episodes, so while Season 3’s number is still impressive, it is a dip from the previous installment. There are currently five episodes of Season 3 streaming on Disney+, so it is possible the show will climb higher in subsequent weeks.
It was quite the week for Pedro Pascal, who...

“The Mandalorian” has made its return to Nielsen’s weekly streaming rankings. Through the Feb 27-March 5 viewing window, during which Season 3 premiered and was available for five days, the “Star Wars” series starring Pedro Pascal was watched for 826 million minutes.
It followed directly behind “NCIS,” which often makes the streaming chart, though usually not in such a high position. The boost came from the fact that Nielsen has now added Paramount+ to the list of streaming services it measures, and the procedural drama’s combined viewership on both Netflix and Paramount+ took it to fourth place with 826 million minutes viewed.
Another Pedro Pascal drama took third place: HBO’s “The Last of Us.” As the series premieres its episodes just hours before the end of each Nielsen window, this week’s chart includes much of Episode 7’s viewership and the first few hours of Episode 8’s viewership, as well as...

They might as well pour champagne and pass out victory cigars at 30 Rock, because Peacock just had its best streaming week ever for movies. The NBCUniversal streamer’s success stemmed largely from success at the box office, giving more weight to the theaters-to-streaming trend that’s seeing cinematic exposure as key to driving viewership online.
Peacock topped Whip Media’s movie ranker for Friday through Sunday, thanks to the streaming debut of “Knock at the Cabin.” But the service also accounted for six of the top 10 most-streamed movies in the U.S. over the past weekend, according to Whip Media’s rankings, which it compiles using viewership data from TV Time, its TV and movie tracking app with more than 25 million global registered users.
Peacock’s big weekend started with M. Night Shyamalan’s latest horror-thriller, which drove viewership following a decent run at the box office this year. Interestingly,...
