Remake of the French movie 'Le Prénom' from 2012. Le Prénom is an adaptation from the French play from 2010 written by Matthieu Dela ported and Alexandre de La Patellière.
At one point Stephan (Christoph Maria Herbst) says the line "Er ist wieder da" in reference to the discussion about the child's name being Adolf coming up once again. Christoph Maria Herbst read the audio book "Er ist wieder da" about the return of Adolf Hitler in present times. "Er ist wieder da" was also turned into a movie (Lui è tornato (2015)) in which Herbst appeared.
While trying to guess the chosen name, Erich Kästner's name is explicitly mentioned as inspiration for either "Emil" or "Erich". Florian David Fitz played Erich Kästner in Kästner und der kleine Dienstag (2016).
