The dead body of a woman is found in a hops field - presented by the perpetrator hanging in a spider web on a seven meter high scaffold. It is not the first case of this kind: apparently Jutta Reike is the fourth victim of a serial killer. Micha Oberländer and Hannah Zeiler find out that the victim doesn't correspond physically to the pattern of the other homicides. Is this the crime of a copycat? When a swimmer is run over brutally by a motorboat on the lake, a surprise is awaiting Zeiler and Oberländer: they find evidence in the car of the victim Dietrich Falkner, that he might be the sought-after serial killer. During a house search trophies of the four victims are found. Everything seems to fit, until Zeiler and Oberländer find out that the trophies of the fourth victim are false. Now it is obvious: there must be a second murderer, who not only killed Dietrich Falkner.—Kremling

A female corpse is found on a hop structure. It is the 4th case of this kind, and everything initially points to another crime by a serial killer. She is identified as Jutta Reike, the wife of the hop farmer Joseph Reike. However, the investigators Hannah Zeiler and Micha Oberländer find out that this is the act of a free rider. Meanwhile, Maike Vogel, an advertising agent for the Täublin brewery, has been missing. During the investigation, another corpse is found in the lake. The victim, Dietrich Falkner, was a boiler attendant at the Täublin brewery. The investigators find out that he is the wanted serial perpetrator. During a beer queen election, Dietrich Falkner was caught by those victims, with the exception of Jutta Reike, while masturbating. Hence, he wanted to take revenge on them for his humiliation. The investigators learn that Joseph Reike killed his wife because of the affair with his business partner Christian Täublin. He disguised her death as one of the serial murders of Dietrich Falkner, and then killed Dietrich Falkner with the help of his childhood nanny, Dietrich Falkner's wife Hilde Falkner, since she has discerned her husband's killings. Joseph Reike is finally arrested while trying to murder Christian Täublin. Eventually, Maike Vogel is saved from a disused part of the Täublin brewery.
