To start on this project, Andrea Savage had to be cut out of iZombie (2015) in the middle of filming, leading to her sudden and controversial exit from the show.
On June 18, 2019, the series was renewed for a third season that was scheduled to return in 2020. However, on August 25, 2020, that decision was reversed when TruTV canceled the series after two seasons due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
