This film was awful. The characters were more like caricatures of Afrikaans stereotypes. They were all insufferable, and it was hard to root for anyone. In fact, I was wishing sudden death upon all of them by the middle of the film -- even the annoying children.
This is a cash grab. There are many things that a middle-aged Afrikaans housewife might like because Afrikaans culture is just about 20 years behind the rest of the developed world, but for those of us with brains and exposure to good content, this will not suffice. This dim does not even manage to reach the already low bar set by the average shitty Afrikaans romantic drama.
This film must have been written over a weekend and by a 12 year old. The best proof for why this must be true would have to be the fact that the breadwinning dad who should have just been made gay is a financial advisor who takes in clients with tens of millions of Rand but does not perform background checks or even tries to prove that the client can pay out. Seriously. The guy meets a seductive, unattractive, woman who wants to bring 10 million rand to the table, but he later finds out that she is a scam artist who does not actually have the money... this is is what I assume was Pretoria. It is actually ridiculous.
