Writer-producer Marc Bernardin is returning to directing with Deepest, Darkest. He is leading a geekfest of a creators of color making a horror anthology around the theme of keeping secrets.
Ghostbusters icon Ernie Hudson, Phil Lamarr (Futurama), American Gods’ Yetide Badaki, Quantum Leap star Raymond Lee and co-star Caitlin Bassett, among others, will star in the genre showcase, which is launching a crowdfunding campaign Aug. 27.
The WGA Award winner and Eisner-nominated Bernardin created the project with actress Tiffany Smith, who appeared in his directorial debut Splinter. That film also launched on Kickstarter and went on to become a hit on the festival circuit, gathering up several awards.
Akela Cooper, who co-wrote the horror hit M3GAN and worked on Star Trek: Strange New Worlds as well as Luke Cage, is executive producing Deepest Darkest.

Greg Berlanti is set to receive the Television Academy’s 2024 Governors Award, which will be presented during the 76th Primetime Emmy Awards telecast on Sept. 15.
The TV Academy said that Berlanti, a prolific film and TV creator, writer, producer and director, is being recognized for his “significant impact on television and culture by depicting the underrepresented in film and in such iconic series as Dawson’s Creek, Riverdale, All American, The Flight Attendant and You.”
In a career that has spanned four decades, Berlanti has been the creative genius behind some of television’s most popular and culturally impactful shows, many of which broke ground with LGBTQ+ representation. Through his company, Berlanti Productions, he has been involved in over 45 television shows, and in 2019 the company had 18 live-action scripted series on the air at the same time.

Back in the 1890s, writer Oscar Wilde brought the world a story called The Picture of Dorian Gray – and now the Netflix streaming service has announced that they’re teaming up with Berlanti Productions and Warner Bros. Television on a new TV series called The Grays, which ComicBook.com hears will be “a contemporary take on the Oscar Wilde classic about our fascination with eternal youth set against the backdrop of the modern beauty industry.“
The Picture of Dorian Gray has the following description: Combining elements of the Gothic horror novel and decadent French fiction, the book centers on a striking premise: As Dorian Gray sinks into a life of crime and gross sensuality, his body retains perfect youth and vigor while his recently painted portrait grows day by day into a hideous record of evil, which he must keep hidden from the world.

Tiger Style Media is partnering with Paramount‘s Republic Pictures for old-school-style martial arts double feature releases. The first two of the four films released this month are Art of Eight Limbs and The Lockdown. Art of Eight Limbs stars Ludi Lin, who plays Liu Kang in 2021’s Mortal Kombat and the upcoming Mortal Kombat 2. The trailer will likely give viewers some déjà vu as the plot of infiltrating a martial arts tournament led by a criminal comes straight from Bruce Lee’s famous film Enter the Dragon. However, mix it in with some Muay Thai action and it’s a cocktail for some martial arts mayhem.
The official synopsis reads,
“In this action-packed thriller from a producer of Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood, Ludi Lin stars as a CIA data analyst and part-time kickboxer. Sent on a mission to Myanmar, he must infiltrate a martial arts tournament...

Scrubs ran from 2001 to 2010 and became a cult phenomenon not only in the US but around the world.
At first glance, it could be mistaken for a typical sitcom, but in fact Bill Lawrence's project is much deeper. It's not just about the unique combination of comedy and drama: Scrubs also raised controversial and profound questions that other shows didn't dare to ask.
1. Zack Braff – J. D.
For his performance as J. D., the actor received three Golden Globe nominations. Braff, who played the main character in the series, did not appear only in the last season, when it was decided to reboot Scrubs, changing the location and part of the cast.
Zach's career is successful, and he not only acts as an actor, but also directs films – for example he made Garden State and Wish I Was Here. In 2021, Braff received an Emmy nomination for his work on the Ted Lasso episode Biscuits.

Based on Donald L. Miller’s book of the same name, and scripted by John Orloff, “Masters of the Air” follows the men of the 100th Bomb Group (the “Bloody Hundredth”) as they conduct perilous bombing raids over Nazi Germany and grapple with the frigid conditions, lack of oxygen and sheer terror of combat conducted at 25,000 feet in the air. Portraying the psychological and emotional price paid by these young men as they helped destroy the horror of Hitler’s Third Reich, is at the heart of “Masters of the Air.” Some were shot down and captured; some were wounded or killed. And some were lucky enough to make it home. Regardless of individual fate, a toll was exacted on them all.

Filmmaker Neil Marshall made a name for himself by directing movies like Dog Soldiers, The Descent, and Doomsday before shifting gears to television where he received widespread acclaim for helming episodes of Game of Thrones, Hannibal, and more.
He first tackled a comic book adaptation with NBC's Constantine. The series toned down its title character for network television and was cancelled after 13 episodes; despite that, it was a hit with fans and, thanks to the popularity of Matt Ryan's interpretation, the Hellblazer found a second life on The CW.
In 2019, Marshall set his sights on Hellboy. The movie already had the odds stacked against it thanks to the demand for Guillermo del Toro's Hellboy 3, but issues behind the scenes derailed the project and it proved a critical and commercial disappointment.

DC’s Legends of Tomorrow has always been the neglected child of the Arrowverse, largely ignored compared to flagship shows like The Flash. However, those who did watch it will know that it was often able to approach topics in ways the other shows couldn’t, due to their more serious tones.
While there have been some weak episodes across the show’s run, 43 out of 110 episodes have a rating of 8.0 or higher on IMDb. It’s one of my favorite shows in the DC CW line because it was willing to explore new angles of the comics in a way that made narrative sense without trying to hide from the weirder implications of time travel, magic, and more.
One of the great things about Legends of Tomorrow is that it relies on the principle that the solution to one problem should always be the start of the next one.

Several different versions of a Green Lantern reboot have been in the works since the 2011 movie was released. In recent years, the franchise has been eyed for a small screen overhaul and, for a time, an HBO Max series looked likely.
Described as a "space opera," the idea was to focus on characters like Alan Scott, Guy Gardner, Simon Baz, and Jessica Cruz. DC Studios scrapped that version to instead focus on Hal Jordan and John Stewart in a True Detective-inspired story set on Earth. That's now being developed for Max.
Talking to The Showrunner Whisperer, Arrowverse boss Marc Guggenheim reflected on his involvement with this previous iteration of Lanterns and revealed new details on what might have been.
"It was gonna be awesome," he says in the video below. "We had James Mangold’s go-to production designer; we had the woman who designs the costumes for The Boys [nm0788320 autoLaura...

A new rumor doing the rounds online is claiming that the planned DC Studios/Max Booster Gold series has found its lead, and the titular time-hopping hero will be played by an actor who made his MCU debut just three years ago.
According to Nexus Point News, Kumail Nanjiani - who played Kingo in Marvel Studios' Eternals - has been cast as Michael John Carter in the upcoming Dcu show.
How much stock should we put in this? Well, the source has been reliable in the past and seems very confident in their story, so we'd say there might well be something to it.
If it is accurate, expect the trades or James Gunn to confirm fairly soon.
Nexus Point News previously reported that Gunn and Peter Safran had tapped Danny McBride, John Carcieri and Jeff Fradley, the creative team behind the HBO Max Original series The Righteous Gemstones, to work on the show.

Fly Me to the Moon director Greg Berlanti doesn’t think of himself as a director first and foremost. He’s a storyteller with a keen sense of how he can best serve a project, be it as a producer, writer or director. In the case of Fly Me to the Moon, the New York native had been talking about working with Scarlett Johansson for some time, and the opportunity to helm a hijinks-filled romantic comedy-drama that’s set in and around the Apollo 11 Moon landing was something he couldn’t resist.
His reasoning for signing on was also the polar opposite of why he chose to direct his previous comedy-drama, Love, Simon (2018), which chronicled the coming out story of teenager Simon Spier. (The critically acclaimed hit paved the way for Hulu’s spinoff series, Love, Victor.)

Warner Bros. never quite figured out the whole "shared universe" thing, with the Dceu, Arrowverse, and various other TV shows, all standing separate from one another.
Arguably the most successful of all those realities was The CW's. Starting with Arrow, the "Arrowverse" rapidly expanded to encompass several small screen franchises, including The Flash, Legends of Tomorrow, and eventually even Supergirl.
Crossovers took place far more frequently than in the Dceu, with Crisis on Infinite Earths becoming one of the Arrowverse's greatest successes.
Greg Berlanti was the one who helped start it all and remains a creative force in the background of those TV shows. He's since moved on and, in an interview with Deadline, confirmed he's ready to see what DC Studios comes up with when James Gunn and Peter Safran launch the Dcu.

The Boys has become one of the most popular comic book series largely due to its highly successful TV adaptation, which has in turn boosted the comic’s popularity. Meanwhile, DC Comics stands as one of the world’s largest comic book publishers, and The Boys cleverly satirizes elements of their work.
Despite their distinct plots and characters (beyond The Boys’ parody of DC’s characters), there are individuals who bridge both worlds through their involvement in live-action adaptations of The Boys and DC’s comic book properties, both in live-action and animated forms.
Here are the actors and actresses who have appeared in both The Boys and DC’s live-action and animated adaptations. In this article, you’ll discover who they are and the roles they played.

We know that The Boys is one of the most popular comic book series of all time, which is mostly due to the TV series being exceptionally popular; this, of course, increased the popularity of the comic book as well. At the same time, DC Comics is one of the two biggest comic book publishers in the world, and The Boys is, in part, satirizing their work as well.
While these two have very little in common in terms of their plots and characters (aside from the fact that some of The Boys characters are parodies of DC’s characters), there are several people that connect the live-action adaptation of The Boys, as well as the live-action and animated adaptation of DC’s comic books.

The CW series Arrow featured Stephen Amell in the iconic role of Oliver Queen, popularly known by his superhero alias, Green Arrow. The show was a massive hit as it spawned the Arrowverse, which included renowned superhero shows like The Flash, Legends of Tomorrow, Supergirl, and many more.

The Arrowverse ended when The Flash concluded last year, though shows like Legends of Tomorrow and Batwoman were cancelled without ever receiving proper endings.
On the plus side, Arrow had a fitting series finale (as did Supergirl) while Superman & Lois' characters were moved to another universe.
It all started with Green Arrow, though, and in an interview with Showrunner Whisperer, executive producer Marc Guggenheim revealed exactly how important the Emerald Archer's TV series was to The CW.
"Shortly after the pilot got ordered to series, Peter Roth [president of Warner Bros. TV] took us out to lunch and basically laid out for us, in incredible detail, the reality that if Arrow wasn’t a hit, there would be no more CW," he explained. "So it was the pressure of having a show and keeping the show on the air – that’s one thing – but now we also have the pressure of keeping the whole network on the air.

Hey, no pressure, Arrow! Just save The CW if you can, m’kay?
That was the message Marc Guggenheim heard as the co-creator and executive producer of the DC Comics series that ran from 2012 to 2020 on the network. During Wednesday’s installment of The Showrunner Whisperer podcast, Guggenheim admitted that he felt “the pressure of keeping the whole network on the air.”
He added that then-Warner Bros. TV chairman Peter Roth “took us out to lunch and basically laid out for us in incredible detail the reality that if Arrow wasn’t a hit, there would be no more CW.”
For those that don’t recall the good ‘ol days of CW, Arrow was a superhero series from Guggenheim, Greg Berlanti and Andrew Kreisberg that was based on the DC Comics character Green Arrow. The series ended up spawning what was dubbed the Arrowverse, with spinoffs like The Flash, Legends of Tomorrow and Supergirl.

The NCIS franchise started over three decades ago, finding great success as the original and with several spinoffs.
When the writer's strikes happened in 2023, fans were left without an NCIS fix for the first time in over twenty years.
Meanwhile, a new spinoff, NCIS: Sydney, was happening in another part of the world for the first out-of-country NCIS spinoff in history.
The upcoming NCIS spinoff featuring Tony Dinozzo and Ziva David may also take place out of the US.
Originally, there were no plans for NCIS: Syndey to air on US television. But when the strikes shut down television production, CBS picked it up for the fall lineup.
Fans rejoiced at the news of an order for a second season of NCIS: Sydney, while we mourned the cancellation announcement for sister show NCIS: Hawai'i.

Exclusive: AnnaLynne McCord (90210) has a start date for Days of Our Lives and she may — or may not! — be assuming a very crucial role on the Peacock drama.
On June 19, a mystery woman will arrive in Salem. At first, it’s assumed that the character of Abigail Devereaux — who was previously portrayed by Kate Mansi, Marci Miller and Ashley Benson — is back in town.
So is McCord that woman?
A little backstory for the uninitiated: Miller was last seen as Abigail in 2022. Before that, Mansi played the character until 2020. Benson also had a turn from 2004-07.
For now, Dool isn’t saying for sure if McCord is truly taking over the part.

Amid persistent rumors that the Booster Gold Max series is in the process of assembling its creative team, we're now hearing that the project has enlisted a trio of righteous writers to work on the scripts.
According to Nexus Point News, James Gunn and Peter Safran have tapped Danny McBride, John Carcieri and Jeff Fradley, the creative team behind the HBO Max Original series The Righteous Gemstones, to work on the show.
If accurate, this may lend some credence to a previous rumor that the team's frequent collaborator Jody Hill was hired as director/showrunner.

There are very few names in Hollywood as legendary as Quentin Tarantino. Having given some of the biggest cult classics of the last few decades, the director is rumored to be heading into retirement after completing his self-imposed quota of ten Hollywood projects.
While there were rumors that The Movie Critic starring both Brad Pitt and Tom Cruise would be his final offering to Hollywood, the project has since been scrapped, with no update on how the director plans to proceed next. One potential option seems to be a one-off Sgt. Rock movie, which Tarantino had previously admitted he himself considered.

The CW used to be the ideal network for soapy teen dramas, sci-fi vampires and werewolf series, and DC superhero shows.
Now, it's a disappointing shell of those days.
The Vampire Diaries premiered back in 2009 and led to two additional spinoffs, while DC's Arrow began in 2012 and also began a massive franchise.
The CW used to include soapy dramas or sci-fi series, such as Supernatural, which launched Jared Padalecki's career.
The CW has only four original series left, and Superman & Lois will air its final season in the fall.

The Arrowverse has always been a place of different possibilities no matter how bizarre they may seem. Each hero had their own standing and story to tell. While some ended on a bittersweet note, others found their footing in one way or another. Each story went down its own path with either major or minor crossovers taking place from time to time.

One thing that plagued the Arrowverse throughout its entirety was the dip in quality in most of its entries, especially in the latter seasons. This problem was apparent in its biggest attractions, Arrow, The Flash, and Supergirl, which despite starting out on a high note and growing to immense popularity, lost their spark during the latter half of their run.
But it was quite the opposite for Legends of Tomorrow, which often gets overlooked when it comes to CW DC shows, and interestingly, the show was originally planned to be just an Atom spin-off.

Considering it's pretty much been radio silence on the show since it was first announced, this update seemed a little shaky, and DC Studios co-ceo James Gunn has now debunked the rumor.
The Guardians of the Galaxy and The Suicide Squad director was asked if "the rumor that Booster Gold will be recorded on July 8th true? Will it be the next big Dcu series after Peacemaker Season 2 or will it be Amanda Waller's series" on his recent Ma and Pa Kent post, and responded: "Although...

In the vast universe of DC comics, Booster Gold is a superhero unlike any other. What sets him apart is not his futuristic technology or time-traveling antics, but rather his insatiable thirst for power and fame. After two brief live-action appearances in DC, the fan-favorite character will be making his way to the Dcu under James Gunn.

Slated to have his own HBO Max series, fans have since been busy fan-casting several actors in the role. While Chris Pratt seems to be leading the race, James Gunn recently dismissed the rumors that the series is starting production soon.

Stephen Amell played the role of Oliver Queen a.k.a Arrow in the CW’s Arrow. The project spawned the Arrowverse which included shows such as The Flash, Legends of Tomorrow, and Supergirl, among others. However, Amell’s Arrow was the one that started it all and has an enduring legacy as it introduced many DC characters to the mainstream.
While the show ended in 2020 after eight seasons, creator Marc Guggenheim reportedly had a different idea for the ending of the series. Guggenheim mentioned that while he always intended for Oliver Queen to die in the series, he wanted him to be a legendary presence, inspiring other vigilantes in the DC universe including Batman.

DC Studios' "Chapter 1: Gods and Monsters" slate left us with plenty to be excited about, but news of a Booster Gold TV series coming to Max was arguably among James Gunn's most thrilling announcements.
Fans have been waiting a long time to see the time-travelling superhero in live-action, and while Donald Faison briefly showed up in what would become Legends of Tomorrow's series finale following its cancellation, the character has yet to be given the chance to shine on screen (Eric Martsolf briefly played him in Smallville).
That will soon change, and all signs point to Xolo Maridueña's Blue Beetle joining the time-travelling superhero.
A recent Production List update suggested Booster Gold will start shooting in July. Now, scooper @MyTimeToShineH has chimed in, claiming that is indeed the case. Even more exciting, though, is the fact the character has supposedly been cast in the Dcu!

The CW's Crisis on Infinite Earths was the Arrowverse's sixth crossover event and aired across five parts from December 2019 - January 2020.
The story played out across episodes of Supergirl, Batwoman, The Flash, Arrow, and Legends of Tomorrow, and featured plenty of fan-pleasing cameos. Those included Kevin Conroy as a live-action Batman, Brandon Routh's return as Superman, and Ezra Miller as The Flash (simpler times).
While it was made on a TV budget, Crisis on Infinite Earths received plenty of praise and delivered a much stronger take on the classic comic book story than this year's poorly-received animated movies.
Talking on his personal blog, Arrowverse architect Marc Guggenheim reflected on the event and confirmed there were once plans for the five-part story to receive a theatrical release.
"I don’t believe this is publicly known but we had been working with Warner Bros. to release all five hours of Crisis...
