I enjoyed very much this excursion through the Caribbean coast of Colombia: beautiful landscapes and nice encounters.
There are some interesting aspècts of this region: the Carnival of Barranquilla ( the guide Juan Hernando and the visit of the Barrio Abajo-the visitors meeting the dancers of the Carnival, the dancer Maria Tello explaining how to dance cumbia-, in 2024 28.000 dancers of 845 dance groups dancing for 4 days, the end of the carnival with the burial of Joselito, the queens of the neighborhoods and and the Queen of the carnival Melissa Cure Villa), the tourism in the Caribbean Coast ( the guide Sonia Brijaldo visiting with Marianna and Roxana the Fort of San Felipe Barajas at Cartagena-Unesco World Heritag site-, the Hotel "Las Islas" at Barú-, the naturalist Sandra Bessudo and the environmental protection-the plant nursery, the plantation of mangrove trees in the peninsula, the Kogis indigenous community receiving two French visitors- the guide Mariano and the introduction to the Kogis culture for 2 days-), Alvaro Restrepo and the Colegio del cuerpo ( the education by the dance, the dance school-which has been visited by the writer Gabriel Garcia Marquez-, Marcela Pineda Gomez who has studied modern dance is now teaching dance to the children of the surrounding villages) , the fauna of Colombia ( the guide Felix Medine and the monitoring of the cotton-top tamarin- in Colombian Spanish titi piel roja-, the Titi Proyecto, the herpetologist Luis Alberto Rueda Solano and others colleagues monitoring the San Lorenzo stubfoot toad-an endangered species-) , the new seaside resort of Palomino ( the fishermen working now as autorickshaw drivers, guides or surfing coaches, Sophie Pontramier and the Casa Cocotte-the training of the local waiters and barmen) and the cocoa production in the Sierra Nevada ( the indigenous communities and the planting of cocoa trees-the crop substitution policy-, the increasing interest for the Colombian cocoa, the chef Claudia Ealo and the use of the coca leaves in the cooking-a fish filled with coriander, basil and mashed coca leaves-).
I enjoyed the encounters of Ismaël Khelifa with the chef Jaime David Rodriguez Camacho at Cartagena, with the guide Jaime Lopez at Barranquilla, with Monica Ospino Davila at Barranquilla, with the farmer Yarlis Ortiz at Cartagena, with the guide Gabriela Moreno and her family at Nueva Venecia, with Valérie Brabant and Philippe Bekaert at the ecolodge "Mundo Nuevo" and with Luntana Gil Alberto-the Wiwa community-; nice encounters with very kind Colombian men and women.
