If you do not know what NBC's Powerless is, don't think that you are in for another action packed DC series. It is far from that, the show premiers in February, and it will be a comedy based on Vanessa Hudgen's character who gets her dream job at Wayne Security, a subsidiary of Wayne Enterprises, and her boss Alan Tudyk that plays the cousin of Bruce Wayne himself, Van Wayne.
Emily Locke lands her dream job as Director of Research and Development for Wayne Security in Charm City, home to super heroes and villains and citizens fed up with the collateral damage of their constant fighting. Full of confidence and big ideas, Emily quickly learns that her aspirations far exceed those of her new boss and officemates, so it will be up to her to lead the team toward their full potential and the realization that you don’t need superpowers to be a hero.

Archer producers Adam Reed and Matt Thompson are joining forces with Community‘s Megan Ganz for animated comedy Cassius & Clay, which FX has just greenlit for a pilot order in hopes of expanding its animated lineup past Reed and Thompson’s beloved spy riff. Reed and Ganz wrote the series, and all three are exec-producing.
The action-buddy comedy, partially inspired by Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, takes place in a futuristic, post-apocalyptic America (not dissimilar to the one seen in Fox’s hit freshman comedy The Last Man on Earth). It centers on two women who team up and live a bandit lifestyle, eking out an existence in the ruins of civilization. Animated comedy Chozen has been canceled by FX after one season, and comedy Legit on the young-adult skewing Fxx will not be returning for a third, it was announced Wednesday.
The cancellations aren’t surprising as both shows had been struggling in the ratings. Chozen was the first original series ordered for Fxx and centered on a white, gay rapper just out of prison, voiced by Bobby Moynihan. The series had its finale March 31.

Tonight’s season finale of Legit will be the Fxx comedy’s swan song. FX Networks confirmed today that the sophomore comedy starring Jim Jefferies has been canceled along with the FX freshman animated series Chozen. FX Networks CEO John Landgraf said last month that FX and Fxx would be doubling their original output in the next year and that the fate of Legit and Chozen would be decided after their current seasons. Chozen wrapped its 10-episode run March 31. Legit was renewed for Season 2 in March 2013, along with fellow FX comedies It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia and The League, and all three were moved to the fledgling Fxx, along with late-night talker Totally Biased With W. Kamau Bell, which has since been cancelled. Legit followed the often often raunchy adventures of Jefferies, an expat Aussie comedian living in Venice, CA, with his boozy, divorced best friend Steve (Dan Bakkedahl...

"Chozen": "Family Weekend (or How Gary Got His Groove Back)" Monday, March 10 at 10:30 pm on FX I have to be honest: "Chozen" won me over by appointing me "Heavy B Earfquake" via the show's rap name generator on its cannily constructed website. "Chozen" itself... well, it has potential. The animated comedy tracks the titular character, Chozen, after a prison stint while he tries to regain his title as the world's greatest rapper. The twists, if you would call them that, are: a) Chozen is white, b) he's gay, and c) his lyrics are intended to turn stereotypical rap tunes on their head (though it...

[Insert your favorite "Archer" catchphrase/punchline here.] "Archer" continues to hit the mark with audiences, so FX has rewarded the animated cult favorite with a two-season renewal. And how could you blame FX for being this bullish about a comedy that just landed a vocal cameo from Mr. Kenny Loggins? The Thursday (March 6) renewal is for seasons six and seven of "Archer," with 13 episodes apiece. "'Archer' is one of the best comedies on television and has played a significant role in the growth of the FX comedy brand," blurbs FX President of Original Programming Eric Schrier. "We’re grateful to Adam Reed, Matt Thompson and their team at Floyd County, and also our incredible voice cast, and are looking forward to supporting their work for at least two more seasons." In the renewal announcement, Adam Reed adds, "I am figuratively over the moon." The current fifth "Archer" season is averaging 1.93 million viewers,...

TVLine has the scoop on the proposed Supernatural spin-off. The series will follow a new hunter who comes to realize that Chicago is under the control of five monster families and the tensions from their attempts to consolidate power while maintaining the peace. I have to admit, that sounds a lot soapier than I’d expect out of a Supernatural spin-off.
When Adult Swim’s fake news show Newsreaders returns for its second season, it will feature a new host — Alan Tudyk. I’ll miss (previous Newsreaders host) Mather Zickel but Alan Tudyk getting a chance to be goofy is generally a good thing.
Too bad “goody and naked” isn’t likely on a fake news show.
The Newsroom and Smash alum Grace Gummer has joined the cast of CBS’ summer series Extant. The series stars Halle Berry as Molly, an astronaut who returns from earth after a long mission in space.

Can an animated series focusing on a gay white rapper make us laugh without offending us at the same time?
If you’ve seen the FX animated comedy Chozen (which premiered last week), the answer is not clearly yes or no since, as we previewed last month, the series will surely offend some people with it’s tone and sense of humor, but it is also rife with genuine laughs that don’t demonalize being gay.
The series begins with a quick prison montage, the titular character (voiced by Saturday Night Live’s Bobby Moynihan) serving ten years in prison for a crime for which he was wrongly accused. Chozen’s experiences in prison (and shower rape is a part of that montage) shape how he views the world and interacts with other people. When he’s finally released he has...

Oklahoma marriage amendment struck down, McDonald’s says Adventure Time toys are for boys, Tony Perkins thinks homosexuality causes extinction
Carrie Underwood was named the top earning American Idol alum with $31 million last year, with Kelly Clarkson taking second place with $7 million. But Adam Lambert is doing just fine, earning $5 million to tie for third with Phillip Phillips.

FX's newest animated series "Chozen" premiered to decent ratings Monday night (Jan. 13), holding onto most of its "Archer" lead-in and drawing 1.8 million viewers over its three airings.
It's a pretty good start for a show that, in its own executive producer's words, is a little bit "dangerous."
"We like to try to figure out a way to take a subject or to take a person that usually an audience isn't used to rooting for or following, and you just figure out a way to make them used to it," executive producer Danny McBride ("Eastbound & Down") says Tuesday at the TCA winter press tour. FX has built a loyal following for the twisted genius of their animated hit “Archer,” which returns tonight, January 13, 2014 to start an incredibly strong series of episodes that spoof “Miami Vice” under the banner of “Archer Vice.” While “Archer” seems to garner more fans every year (helped ably by the popularity of the episodes on Netflix), FX has struggled to find it a partner. Maybe an obnoxious, fat, gay white rapper is just what Sterling Archer needed.

“Archer” is still the vastly superior show but there’s enough promise in the anything-for-a-joke aesthetic of “Chozen,” which premieres after the fifth-season opener of the spy hit. “Archer” is a pretty well-known commodity at this point, building a fan base through repeats, Blu-ray releases, and streaming services to the point that most people know what to expect from it — raunchy humor, clever spy spoofs, silly action, whip-smart dialogue. Every Monday, we bring you five noteworthy highlights from the other six days of the week. "Archer": Season Premiere Monday, January 13th at 10pm on FX Adam Reed's profanely hilarious spy comedy "Archer" kicks off the season with a character death and something even more shocking -- a genuine shake-up of the series' premise. What hasn't changed is the series' sense of humor, which remains as wonderfully filthy and oddly esoteric as ever. The show will be followed by the premiere of new series "Chozen" at 10:30pm, another boundary-pushing animated comedy produced by Reed's Floyd County Productions. "Independent Lens": "At Berkeley" Monday, January 13th at 10pm on PBS You're going to want to clear...

I had high hopes for The Assets, I liked the idea of focusing the damage control necessary when a mole is leaking the identities of informants. Unfortunately, audiences weren’t so interested and it’s been pulled from the schedule.
Last night, TVLine got some red carpet scoop. James Earl Jones and Carrie Fisher will be appearing as themselves, encountering Sheldon. Er, can Sheldon’s heart handle meeting those two legends? I’m suddenly worried they’re killing him off.
The BBC America original drama The Intruders has picked a familiar face for its lead. Life on Mars and Doctor Who alum John Simm will play a former cop thrown into a supernatural conspiracy.
Wg America’s 10-part 10 Commandments mini-series will each be made by a different director with a chapter each coming from Lee Daniels and Gus Van Sant.

Bobby Moynihan, the driving force behind the new animated gay-rapper comedy Chozen, comes by his hip-hop influences honestly. "I grew up listening to a lot of Snoop Dogg and the Wu-Tang Clan," he says. "Actually, I was a huge Wu-Tang fan." The SNL star, 36, voices the namesake protagonist, a gay, thuggish Mc who emerges from prison to plot a return to the game – and revenge on the thug who sent him there (Phantasm, voiced by the Wu's Method Man). "To get to work with him was just insane," adds Moynihan.

Bobby Moynihan and Grant De Kernion a TV cartoon like no other, the story of gay white rapper named Chozen Before the conference call connects and the publicity chat is underway, one wonders, what’s exactly going through the minds of Saturday Night Live cast member Bobby Moynihan and writer/producer Grant De Kernion in the days prior to the broadcast premiere of their FX Networks cartoon comedy Chozen. Theirs is a unique pitch, an animated comedy from the creators of Archer and Eastbound & Down about a heavyset, gay white rapper named Chozen (voice of Moynihan), just released from prison and anxious to claim his place as a best-selling rap artist. Looking to classic Hip Hop for answers, perhaps Lauryn Hill and her long ago Fugees capture Chozen’s story best (with a little lyrical tweaking).

The Midwest is currently so cold, boiling water is magically turning into snow, but it's not all doom and gloom out there – there's still midseason TV to look forward to. Once considered the bastard stepchild of scheduling and a ratings sand trap when it came to launching new shows, midseason TV has slowly come into its own. Sure, it may not be as hyped or as glamorous as the fall TV schedule, but that doesn't mean there aren't plenty of reasons to tune in. Here are 15 new and returning programs...

6. The Spoils of Babylon
The Spoils of Babylon is an upcoming American comedy miniseries by Saturday Night Live veterans Andrew Steele and Matt Piedmont, directed by Piedmont (Casa de Mi Padre), and starring Tobey Maguire, Kristen Wiig, Tim Robbins, Jessica Alba, Val Kilmer, Haley Joel Osment, Michael Sheen, and Will Ferrell. It’s doubtful that any other sitcom on the small screen will be able to rival the star-power of this IFC mock-miniseries. The show is intended to be a spoof of the epic-scale TV events prevalent on American network television in the 1970s and 80s such as The Thorn Birds and Rich Man, Poor Man. Spoils of Babylon comes from the Funny or Die production house, and premieres at 10 p.m. Et Jan. 9 on IFC.

I’m going to go out on a limb and predict that Chozen, the new half hour animated series that premieres on Monday, Jan 13th, is going to be a really big hit for FX. It’s a ballsy show with a tight little premise: a white gay rapper, fresh out of prison, is determined to become the rap god he was meant to be. Lewd, crude and sure to prompt an outraged letter campaign or two, the show also happens to be very funny and deserves some support from Lgbt audiences for offering a sympathetic and truly original gay lead character.
Some thoughts after screening the first several episodes.
1. Bobby Moynihan does fantastic voice work
The longtime Saturday Night Live cast member is probably best known for his recurring Drunk Uncle character. He’s always been a solid performer on SNL, but never really a breakout star. Moynihan hits...

A trailer for has been released for Chozen, FX’s newest animated comedy from Eastbound & Down creators Danny McBride and Jody Hill, and Archer creator Adam Reed. The show, following a gay rapper who just got out of prison, was created by former Eastbound writer Grant Dekernion (who will also write and rap the songs on the show), and features the voice cast of Saturday Night Live star Bobby Moynihan (in the lead role of Chozen), Michael Peña, Method Man, Hannibal Buress, Kathryn Hahn and Nick Swardson. Fxx, which launches Sept. 2, will focus more on comedy and target younger viewers than FX. It will air several current FX shows, including It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia and The League, but Chozen, is the first new show added to their lineup. Watch the trailer below. Enjoy!

Following in the footsteps of "Archer," FX has another adult-oriented animated show premiering at the top of next year with "Chozen," with the network having just released a trailer for the program, below. Written by former "Eastbound & Down" writer's assistant Grant Dekernion and executive produced by fellow "Eastbound" producers David Gordon Green, Jody Hill and Danny McBride, "Chozen" follows the titular character (Bobby Moynihan), a gay white rapper fresh out of prison who tries to assimilate back into his regular life and reenter the music game. Although the trailer is just under two minutes, it definitely highlights the kind of gloriously profane and politically incorrect humor that have made both "Eastbound and Down" and "Archer" into cult favorites. "Chozen" premieres on FX on January 13.

(Cbr) Starring "Saturday Night Live’s" Bobby Moynihan as the title character, Fxx’s animated "Chozen" revolves around an openly gay ex-con who wants nothing more than revenge, redemption and a shot at the rap fame he feels is owed to him. “I’m super-excited to be the first original on that channel,” creator Grant Dekernion said during the show’s New York Comic Con panel. “And to have shows like "Always Sunny" on there with us … I mean, it’s amazing. It’s really cool.” “Chozen is just so hell-bent on one thing that he just says and does whatever he wants,” Moynihan explained. “Even...
