San Sebastian — From when it began to incorporate Spanish TV series in its Official Selection – think 2017’s “The Plague” or 2020’s double whammy of “Patria” and “Riot Police” – San Sebastián has used its first Saturday to debate TV issues.

“Bridgerton,” “Bridgerton,” “Bridgerton.” That’s what Netflix’s Top 10 Most Popular TV (English) list looks like now.
Season 3 of the Shondaland period drama has now entered the streamer’s all-time list at number 10, booting “Baby Reindeer” and joining “Bridgerton” Seasons 1 and 2 on the leaderboard.
“Bridgerton” is the only series with three seasons on Netflix’s top 10 all-time list. “Stranger Things” is well-represented with Seasons 3 and 4, but its first two seasons came out before Netflix began to share viewership statistics.
Like many of its biggest shows, Netflix split “Bridgerton” Season 3 into two parts. Part 1 debuted on May 16; Part 2 launched on June 13.
Netflix’s top 10 is based on number of views over a TV season or a film’s first 91 days of availability — both “Bridgerton” Season 3 halves still have plenty of time to rack up more views in pursuit of the preceding seasons. “Baby Reindeer” has just a few days left before Netflix’s self-imposed cutoff.

Season 3 of “Bridgerton” has officially joined the list of Netflix’s most popular titles of all time.
With a cumulative 91.9 million views since May 16 premiere, the season rank at No. 10 on the all time English-language TV chart, which Netflix measures based on views during each title’s first 91 days of streaming. This total was calculated on June 30, only 45 days after May 16, meaning the season can — and will — continue to climb higher.
Not only did “Bridgerton” Season 3 achieve all-time status quickly — it could have done so even quicker. Because the season was released in two segments, it wasn’t eligible for the Most Popular list until after June 13, when the final four episodes were released, at which point its viewership total was reset, as Netflix calculates views by dividing total stream time by runtime. But by June 9, the first four episodes had hit 88.9 views on their own, which at the time...

The first season of Gangs of Galicia doesn’t necessarily end on a cliffhanger, but its open-ended conclusion does leave room for a second season. The renewal of a series, however, depends on a lot of factors, especially the audience rating and its viewership on the streaming platform. And at the time of writing this article, the series hasn’t yet attracted a lot of viewers. I am not sure if Netflix would further gamble on this done-to-death story or not. But if they do, it can’t hurt to stay on top of the possible theories on how the story can move forward in Gangs of Galicia season 2.

Netflix’s Gangs of Galicia begins with a tragedy. The lead protagonist, Ana Gonzalez Soriano, soon finds out that her father, Jorge, had been shot dead in broad daylight. So, here’s a spoiler warning for those who haven’t finished the series yet: to explain Jorge’s real-life connection, I’ll have to discuss the ending of the show, along with the person who ordered his murder.

We saw in Gangs of Galicia that the entire region shuddered at the mention of a name, Jose Padin, aka the godfather of the drug business. The character of Jose Padin is inspired by a real-life mafia patriarch, Manuel Charlin Gama, who became a headache for the law enforcement authorities and spent decades behind bars. In the series, we saw that Jose Padin had a son, Daniel Padin, who fell in love with Ana, and they got pretty serious about each other until the end of the series. Daniel’s character is also inspired by Charlin’s real-life son, Melchor. The makers of Gangs of Galicia have taken some creative liberties while portraying these two characters, but some of the things actually happened as shown in the series.
It is true that Manuel Gama was known for his temper, and it was said that he never forgot a man who went against him.

‘Gangs Of Galicia’ Netflix Review: A Stretched Crime Drama Series From The Picturesque Spanish Coast
The new Spanish crime drama series released on Netflix, Gangs of Galicia also known as Clanes, is the story of hardened criminals running a drug smuggling business in the Galicia region of Spain. Starring Clara Lago and Tamar Novas in the lead roles, the series is about a woman’s shocking discovery about the secrets of her deceased father’s life and the consequences that follow. Gangs of Galicia relies a bit too much on the plot’s need to convince viewers of its shaky plot points, which does not ultimately work in its favor. Despite having seven episodes, which is one shorter than the usual Netflix norm of eight, the Spanish series feels too stretched and uninteresting at times, making it only a very average watch.

Netflix is as interested in acquiring third-party titles as it is in producing original films, said Larry Tanz, Netflix VP of content for Emea.
Tanz underlined the importance of films to the streamer on a visit to Netflix’s European production hub in Tres Cantos on the outskirts of Madrid.
“What we care about is bringing the best films and series to our members,” said Tanz. “If it’s a huge film from Constantin that’s in theatres and then on Netflix, if our members love it, that’s great. If it’s something that we commission, that’s great as well.

Netflix’s list of new releases for June 2024 look suspiciously like last month’s.
That’s because the biggest item on the schedule is Bridgerton season 3 once again. The final four episodes of Bridgerton‘s third season will premiere on June 13. Polin fans everywhere, rejoice! Other TV items of note this month include the third and final season of Sweet Tooth (June 6), Worst Roommate Ever season 2 (June 26), and That ’90s Show Part 2 (June 28).
Bridgerton aside, Netflix’s original movie options this month might be even more impressive than the TV slate. Richard Linklater’s Hitman, which stars Glen Powell as the titular assassin, premieres on June 7. That will be followed by documentary Black Barbie on June 19, the Jessica Alba-starring Trigger Warning on June 21, and romcom A Family Affair on June 28
Here’s everything else coming to Netflix this month. Note that Netflix marks its international offerings with that respective country’s two-letter country code.
