After meeting director William Conlin and watching his documentary film Making Apes: The Artists Who Changed Film, Derek Maki and Doug Jones felt they found the perfect director to tell this story. It was William's ability to tell an interesting story in documentary form without it being "boring" that sealed his deal as the director on this project. A true testament to his ability to weave a story and make you feel for the people who are in his film.
This is a feature length documentary about the life and career of Doug Jones. It will not be a re-created story but rather an in-depth look into Mr. Jones' life through interviews with his family, friends, co-stars and more along with first hand interviews of Mr. Jones himself.
This project is the brainchild of Mr. Jones' real life appearance manager Derek Maki of Coolwaters Productions LLC. This relationship helped get the film started. After a 16+ year relationship Mr. Maki has watched Mr. Jones triumph and also suffer and felt this story had to be told first hand. Doug Jones is loved world-wide by fans as well as his industry peers, its impossible for this story not to be told.
Doug Jones will of course star in this film as himself but he will also serve as a producer on the project.
The film is already in production with some shooting taking place at fan conventions known as "Comic Cons". Several fans have already recorded their on site interviews.
