Well, I believed that I was in for a comedy here, as I sat down to watch the 2023 movie "Miguel Wants to Fight". Sure, I had never heard about the movie prior to watching it, so I only knew what I had read on IMDb about it. But hey, with it being a movie that I hadn't heard about nor watched, of course I opted to give the movie a chance.
And while I did manage to sit through the 75 minutes that the movie ran for, I must admit that the movie was sort of bland and rather devoid of anything funny. So writers Shea Serrano and Jason Concepcion sort of failed to deliver a proper comedy script for the movie. I have to say that the storyline sort of fell short of entertaining me, and it was sort of just a repetitive narrative that the writers came up with.
The acting performances in the movie were fair enough, and it certainly was a movie that had a diverse cast ensemble put together. I found that to be enjoyable, actually. I wasn't familiar with the actors and actresses on the cast list, which is something I tend to enjoy when I watch a movie, as there are no associations to previously portrayed characters in other movies.
"Miguel Wants to Fight" is a movie that came and went without leaving any kind of lasting impression. And I bet that by next week I will have entirely forgotten about it.
My rating of director Oz Rodriguez's 2023 movie "Miguel Wants to Fight" lands on a four out of ten stars.
