It is impossible to believe that Deblina Chatterjee is 18 years old (at the time of the movie) and that this is her first movie. She has given a brilliant performance, which many mature actresses will find difficult to match.
It is equally difficult to believe that it's Somnath Gupta's debut as a director. Such a wonderful job. Every shot seems to have been given a lot of thought. The rural Bengal has been shown in real light. The dreams, hopes and aspiration of a young man from that kind of background have been shown with accuracy. The inter- religious relations have not been unduly emphasized. Same is true of the US attack on Iraq. There was enough scope of over-emphasizing on both these counts, which would have taken away the intended effect on the viewer.
Samadarshi Dutta as Suleman is outstanding. ( He was equally good in 'Icche'). Bidipta Chakraborty as the Boudi of the neighbouring house and Rudranil Ghosh as Jabbar have done justice to their role.
This is a must-see movie for all.
