Most often, very little gets accomplished in less than 15 minutes. This is not the case with Shorty and Morty. This wonderful piece of film finds grace in a graceless situation. Artfully, it reminds us of what matters most as it whisks us through a collage of characters who embody our less-celebrated foibles. Though the characters may seem "fringe", each has real depth and is kind of distillation of what we can find in most large families and don't like to talk about when the children are present. Each is skillfully revealed in the dynamics with the other characters. Not a moment of this film is wasted.
This little film will not let you just sit in your chair. It will take you to task, make you think, entertain you in the process and leave you better than it found you. You could not ask for more.
