Michael Fassbender, Jamie Foxx and Peter Dinklage are in talks to star in Mel Gibson's remake of The Wild Bunch, the violent and influential Western for Warner Bros., The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed.
Bryan Bagby was earlier announced as on board to co-write the script with Gibson, who will also executive produce the movie. Sam Peckinpah, known for his action and macho-fueled movies, directed the 1969 original, which told of aging outlaws trying to live out the final days of the Wild West even as the 20th century has no use for them.

It appears that Mel Gibson is starting to get a pretty damn full schedule over the next couple years. In addition to helming a new World War II film and starring alongside Colin Farrell in another film, Gibson has his eyes set to the future. And according to Deadline, his future now includes co-writing and directing a remake of the classic Western, “The Wild Bunch.”
The report states that Gibson is combining forces with Bryan Bagby to pen the new script, and will eventually go behind the camera as the film’s director.

Aside from Top Gun 2, Tony Scott has left behind some very promising development projects. The ones that were closest to the start line were Narco Sub at Fox and Lucky Strike with Vince Vaughn starring, Emmett/Furla funding and Fox distributing and a remake of The Wild Bunch at Warner Bros. The one I was most intrigued by was his plan to remake the Walter Hill-directed The Warriors, the 1979 drama about the street gang framed for murdering a gang leader, who are hunted by assorted street gangs as they try to make their way back to the safety of their home turf. Under Scott’s direction, that would have been something to see. There was a time after Swingers when Vince Vaughn tried his hand at a string of dramatic roles in films like Psycho, Return to Paradise, Domestic Disturbance, and The Cell before returning almost exclusively to comedies. Now he may have a chance to stretch his dramatic muscles again, this time for director Tony Scott in the action/thriller Lucky Strike. The film would tell the story of a DEA agent who "teams with a drug runner to take down a drug cartel." There's no word on which part Vaughn would play; only that he would star. Lucky Strike has gained momentum to become Scott's next project, although nothing has been set in stone yet, especially given the director's slew of other potential deals. If the film does become next in line for Scott, a late summer or early fall shoot would be planned. Written by Henry Bean, Lucky Strike has...

The word ‘No,’ obviously, is not a part of his vocabulary – yes, you get a handle, I’m talking about director who has attached his name to a bunch of various projects of late, such as Narco Sub, Hell’s Angels, and remakes of Top Gun, The Wild Bunch, and The Warriors as well. Now, True [...]

With dozens of projects in development, Tony Scott‘s next film seems to be changing with every news update. The director hasn’t made a project since 2010′s Unstoppable and his star Denzel Washington recently came back with the unexpected hit Safe House. Now it is his turn and Deadline seems to have acquired some formal news.
They report that things are gearing up for an $80 million drug thriller titled Lucky Strike, with sights set on Tony Scott to helm. What is most interesting is the choice of lead, as they report comedian Vince Vaughn would star in the film “in which a DEA agent teams with a drug runner to take down a drug cartel.” It unfortunately sounds like a variation of every other film Scott has directed, but at his age who can fault the guy for not pulling out any surprises.

Tony Scott heads back under the sea for a brand new thriller, Narco Sub...
After his adventures with trains in his past two features (The Taking of Pelham 123 and Unstoppable), director Tony Scott looks to be returning to submarines.
Crimson Tide was the director’s last underwater feature, and was a critical and commercial success, that earned three Academy Award nominations. He might just be hoping to catch some of that acclaim again after a run of films that have received mixed receptions. 2004’s Man on Fire was his last strong film for me.
The new project in question is a Fox production spectacularly titled Narco Sub, a nautical thriller about South American drug runners using submersible vessels to transport their goods to the United States. The script has been penned by David Guggenheim, who wrote the upcoming and rather ace looking Denzel Washington thriller Safe House.

Director Tony Scott -- who, as near as I can tell, will be directing every movie in Hollywood within the next 10 years or so -- has added yet another project to his already overloaded docket. This one doesn't stray far from his wheelhouse: it's the action thriller Narco Sub, based on the spec script by hot up-and-coming writer (and former Us Weekly editor) David Guggenheim. Scott will direct and produce, with Simon Kinberg (Sherlock Holmes) also on board to produce. This is, of course, in addition to his plans to remake The Wild Bunch, make the 24 movie, and any number of other projects he's brought up over the years. Plot details are scarce because 20th Century Fox is keeping a lid on them, but Variety says it's being described as in the same vein as Crimson Tide and Man on Fire. They also add that the title, Narco Sub, likely...

If you're a fan of Tony Scott, I can't see how you wouldn't be excited about this next project. Not only does it involve drug dealers, but it also involves submarines. True Romance meets Crimson Tide? Sold. The movie is called Narco Sub and revolves around "semi-submersible crafts South American drug cartels employ to smuggle cocaine into the U.S." I had no idea that this was even a thing, but it definitely sounds like it could be a cool backdrop for an action-thriller. The script was written by David Guggenheim (not the documentary director) and Twentieth Century Fox has acquired it and assigned Tony Scott to direct. Simon Kinberg (X-Men: First Class, Jumper) will also produce. According to Deadline, the project is "described as reminiscent of Scott’s Crimson Tide and Man on Fire." I'm assuming that means it will be maintaining the same visual style as everything Scott...

At least it isn’t The Wild Bunch.
Instead, Variety says that Tony Scott will return to behind-the-camera duties for Narco Sub, an action thriller that’s recently been acquired (and fast-tracked) by 20th Century Fox. Information on the spec by Safe House scribe David Guggenheim is being kept secret at the moment, but two things are relevant: 1. It’s said to be in line with Scott‘s own Crimson Tide & Man on Fire, and 2. the titular vehicles are “semi-submersible crafts that South American drug cartels have used to smuggle cocaine into the U.S.” (Those are actually two of his better films being name-dropped here; I’ll take it as a good sign.)
Producer Simon Kinberg, — he of Genre Films, and best known for co-writing Sherlock Holmes and Jumper — called it a “truly original, riveting action movie with rich characters and a world we’ve never seen on screen.

The widely popular game from developer Activision is getting the serialized treatment the from acclaimed directing and producing duo, but with a twist. The Scott brothers will be bringing Friday Night Fights to the web in which rivals in real life will be able to take each other on virtually in Call of Duty multiplayer. The series will be part of Activision's full package Elite TV service revolving around that online gaming community. It will be produced by Ridley Scott Associates. This adds yet another project to the busy siblings' plans with Tony Scott, among many other things, planning a remake of The Wild Bunch. Ridley Scott is currently working on his Aliens pseudo-prequel Prometheus and has a reimagining of Blade Runner on the back burner. Call of Duty: Elite, the latest...
