Chicago – On the most exciting moments of any major film premiere is the red carpet, on which the film stars, directors and producers appear for photos and interviews. At the 2013 49th Chicago International Film Festival, there were several major red carpet events, and HollywoodChicago.com was there to cover them.
Featured performers Bruce Dern, Oscar Isaac, Geoffrey Rush, Michael Shannon and Harry Lennix were among the celebrities walking the carpet at the Festival, along with their production teams and co-stars. Premieres included “Nebraska,” “Inside Llewyn Davis,” “The Book Thief,” “The Harvest,” “The Motel Life” and “H4,” all having screenings at the 49th Chicago International Film Festival.

Chicago – The 2013 Chicago International Film Festival may be heading into its final stretch but it’s far from over, as new films from Errol Morris, Joel & Ethan Coen, Jason Reitman, and many more are scheduled to make their Chicago premiere.
A few of the biggies this year weren’t screened in time for press but we have seen some of the smaller, notable films, and you should go out of your way to see a few of ‘em. Pick your favorites, as chosen by Brian Tallerico, Patrick McDonald, and Nick Allen.

A boyish promise between two high school age young men concerning the ownership of a mutual female friend leads to creeper antics years later in this little thriller, spearheaded by an unsettling performance from Sylvester Groth (Inglourious Basterds). This is diet Hitchcock, including a slim 83 min.

Last year, when he was at the 48th annual Chicago International Film Festival for the showing of his film Mr. Sophistication, I spoke with Harry Lennix, and he told that post–production had just been completed on his film project, H4, directed by Paul Quinn, and he was very excited and proud of the film.A “re-imaging”: of Shakespeare’s Henry IV Part 1 and Part II, set in modern day Los Angeles, the film is described as “the first Shakespeare adaptation to deal with contemporary African-American issues.” It tells the story of Henry’s unreliable son Hal's coming of age, as events compel him to increase power and responsibility, when he becomes the face of a new...

First some background... Several months ago or so, I did an interview for another site with actor Harry Lennix, who all of you know, and was seen this summer in Warner Bros' huge Superman reboot, Man of Steel. But the interview wasn't about that; it was instead about Harry's upcoming indie projects, like the fascinating Mr. Sophistication, directed by Danny Green, in which he plays a Richard Pryor-like self-destructive comedian attempting a comeback, and his all-black version of Shakespeare's Henry IV, called H4, which has just finished post-production. And both of those are on top of 6 other pictures he's completed that are scheduled to be released next year. ...

Since today seems to be the day for celebrity driven Kickstarter campaigns, here's another one that may be of interest. In a recent interview, actor Harry Lennix revealed that:
“Right now I’m doing what I think is the first black Shakespeare film ever done, which is called “H4”. It’s a reconfiguration using Shakespeare’s language of “Henry IV Part I and Part II”. I play Henry IV in it along with an estimable cast including Keith David, Angus Macfadyen from “Braveheart”, we have a number of young and talented actors.”
Harry Lennix also said that he's producing the film.
On IMDb, Michael Dorn is listed as playing the part of Henry IV, but Shakespeare fansite Bardfilm clarifies:
“Michael Dorn will not be playing Henry IV in the finished version of the film. Scheduling conflicts prevent him from being available for the reshoots. But Harry Lennix, who played Aaron (and played him brilliantly) in Julie Taymor’s Titus, will take over the role.”
So, effectively, this is Commander Lock...
