Is it safe to go back to the ocean? The slick, turn-of-the-millenium “Ocean’s” caper franchise still looks like it has some life in it. There’s talk of an “Ocean’s Fourteen” making the rounds, with the core of the original cast involved.
Apple TV+ is just a few weeks away from debuting their starriest movie yet, “Wolfs,” a crime comedy starring George Clooney and Brad Pitt directed by “Spider-Man” maestro Jon Watts. Rumors that the two A-listers are also prepping “Ocean’s Fourteen” either deadens the impact of this reunion or gasses it up even further depending on your point of view. If “Wolfs” wasn’t a blast for them, you might think, there’s no way they wouldn’t want it.

If you've got any salt handy, it may be worth taking a pinch of it before plunging into this morsel of movie news with us, folks. According to Deadline, one last job for Danny Ocean and his motley crew of high-stake heisters may well be on the cards after all — and if stars George Clooney and Brad Pitt have their way, they've found a hell of a filmmaker to make the film happen. Per the trade's reporting, none other than BAFTA winning All Quiet On The Western Front director Edward Berger is being courted to helm Ocean's 14, which would be the fourth film in the mainline Ocean's franchise and the first made without Steven Soderbergh calling the shots.

Following last year’s Hollywood strikes, George Clooney is offering a bit of pay transparency about his latest role.
The Academy Award winner referenced “an interesting article” by The New York Times that reported he and co-star Brad Pitt were each paid more than $35 million for the movie as he spoke at a Venice Film Festival press conference on Sunday.
“Whatever her source was for our salary, it is millions and millions and millions of dollars less than what was reported,” claimed Clooney. “And I am only saying that because I think it’s bad for our industry if that’s what people think is the standard bearer for salaries. I think that’s terrible, it’ll make it impossible to make films.”

At the press conference for their new film “Wolfs,” which will have its world premiere at the Venice Film Festival, stars George Clooney and Brad Pitt kept things strictly professional in the sense that many of the questions they were asked glossed over the content of the action comedy, focusing instead on their thoughts on its distribution plan through Apple, and how quickly it will be streaming.
“You know, streaming, we need it. Our industry needs this. This is part of what we’re doing, but they also benefit from having films released,” Clooney said. “That’s why Brad and I were working so hard to try and get this released. And we’re figuring it out. We haven’t got it all figured out. This is a revolution in our industry, but we need Apple and Amazon, and they actually need distributors, right? They need to have Sony or...

George Clooney says the salaries he and co-star Brad Pitt received for Jon Watts’ Apple Studios title Wolfs were “millions less than reported.”
Speaking at the press conference for the Venice out of Competition title, Clooney responded to a question on how he and Pitt felt about the film’s reduced theatrical release, after Apple acquired the film last year.

George Clooney has set right a claim that he and Wolfs co-star Brad Pitt were paid around $35 million each for the film, as reported in a New York Times article.
The duo brought their banter and riffing to the Venice Film Festival for the world premiere of Jon Watt’s action comedy, in which they play competing criminal fixers accidentally assigned to the same job. The two movie stars and real-world pals traded friendly jabs, praise and filmmaking insights in Italy at a press conference for Wolfs.
At one point, Clooney explained that the pair gave portions of their salaries back after a theatrical deal fell through for the film, meaning it gets a limited release in “a couple of hundred theaters,” and brought up a New York Times article published last week by Nicole Sperling that said he and Pitt were paid more than $35 million each.

George Clooney isn’t shying away from calling out auteur Quentin Tarantino, even if he’s not citing his sources.
Clooney told GQ UK during a joint interview with his “Wolfs” co-star Brad Pitt that he was “a little irritated” with Tarantino after the director supposedly commented about a lack of modern movie stars, and outright said Clooney was not one of them.
Pitt won an Academy Award for Tarantino’s “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood,” while Clooney collaborated with Tarantino in “From Dusk Till Dawn.”
“Listen, I did a movie with Quentin. He played my brother [in ‘From Dusk Till Dawn’]. He was Ok in it,” Clooney said of Tarantino’s acting ability.
While Pitt protested, saying that Tarantino had a standout scene, Clooney explained why he wasn’t too keen on complimenting the “Pulp Fiction” writer/director.

There are very few events in human history as relentlessly documented and recorded as the Olympic Games. From 1912 onwards, the International Olympics Council produced over 40 documentaries chronicling the pinnacle of sports and athletics, as a way to document and preserve the highlights of the thousands of competitors who compete for the gold every year. While those often straightforward, paint-by-numbers documentaries largely fell out of fashion with the rise of television — and now, there are likely more people keeping up with the games via social media than there are consistent cable watchers tuning in — films made about the games from more independent sources remain key touchstone classics to this day.
It’s no surprise why the Olympics would draw filmmakers and documentarians. As the highest platform of athleticism on the planet, the games features human beings at their absolute peaks, and many of the participants are the types of physical specimens...

Review: After the surprise box office success of The Boys in the Boat, Disney shifted Young Woman and the Sea from a streaming debut to a theatrical release. However, the film barely registered during its limited window in May. The inspirational period sports drama is coming to Disney+, where it will likely garner a much larger audience. Despite a familiar formula that borders on cliche, Young Woman and the Sea is still a rousing underdog tale from the same studio that brought us Remember the Titans and Miracle.

George Clooney’s New York Times op-ed calling for President Biden to drop out of the election felt like something more than standard-issue celebrity activism for a few reasons. For the political class, it was not just an actor speaking, but a major Democratic Party donor and fundraiser — one whose insight on Biden’s age and manner was bolstered by his having seen the President in action at a June 15 fundraiser.
But for the general public, something more ineffable is at work. On- and off-screen, Clooney has painstakingly constructed an image for himself that’s unlike practically any of his peers on the A-list. As an actor and as a public figure, Clooney is a self-styled American conscience, a leading-man throwback who provides a sort of guiding sensibility to the films he anchors, and to the causes he supports.
Beyond his fundraising for the Democrats, Clooney is a plainspoken advocate...

Nearly 30 years later, we now get Twister 2, cunningly entitled Twisters. But you know what? There’s more to this than a bit of wind.
When, in 1983, Anthony Perkins reprised the role of Norman Bates for a sequel to Alfred Hitchcock’s classic Psycho, there was much scoffing. On the one hand: a sequel to Psycho! Are you mad? On the other, it’d been – get this – 23 years since the first film came out. What kind of gap between a first and second film was that? Further madness.
Twisters, then.
Twenty eight years after Jan de Bont’s weather-em-up Twister threw cows at the screen and had the brilliant duo of Helen Hunt and the much-missed Bill Paxton chasing tornados, Hollywood has spat out a sequel.
Why? Well, money.
It’s clearly a project that follows the sequel template, as the title tells you. You got one twister in the first film,...

Streaming platforms have been both a blessing and a curse for the television and film industries. While the major streamers have changed the format of shows, making them much more expensive to produce but shorter in number of episodes, they have also given a second chance to many movies that didn't perform well enough in theaters.
One of the biggest examples of this is the 2024 spy movie Argylle. Another is 2023's The Boys in the Boat, directed by none other than George Clooney. Here's everything you need to know about the period sports drama that unexpectedly shot to the top of Prime Video.

Exclusive: Cruel Summer actress Olivia Holt and recent Scream franchise star Mason Gooding are set for the Spyglass’ original horror rom-com, Heart Eyes, which is rolling cameras in New Zealand.
The latest pic builds on the campy horror canon that Spyglass is building in the wake of 2022’s Scream, last year’s Scream VI and Thanksgiving.
In the new pic, when the Heart Eyes Killer strikes Seattle, a pair of co-workers pulling overtime on Valentine’s Day are mistaken for a couple by the elusive couple-hunting killer. Now they must spend the most romantic night of the year running for their lives.
Spyglass has tapped horror comedy filmmaker, Josh Ruben (Werewolves Within and Scare Me) who’ll helm from a screenplay written by Phillip Murphy (The Hitman’s Wife’s Bodyguard) Christopher Landon & Michael Kennedy (Freaky). Landon and Divide/Conquer’s Greg Gilreath and Adam Hendricks are producing. Spyglass’ Gary Barber and Chris Stone will serve as EPs with Murphy.
Ruben said, “My love of horror is rivaled only by my love of romantic comedies. I’m excited as hell to mount my most challenging genre bender to date: a brutal slasher in a nostalgic rom-com universe.”
Holt can next be seen starring in the rom-com Jingle Bell Heist and has a guest starring role on Peacock’s new comedy series Laid. Holt most recently starred in Cruel Summer and Marvel’s Cloak and Dagger for Freeform and Amazon’s horror comedy Totally Killer. Last year, Holt made her Broadway debut as the iconic Roxie Hart in the classic musical Chicago. The actress is repped by WME and Entertainment 360, and Yorn, Levine, Barnes, Krintzman, Rubenstein, Kohner, Endlich, Goodell & Gellman.
Gooding is well known for playing Chad Meeks-Martin in the global box office hits Scream and Scream VI. He will next be seen in Kyle Mooney’s disaster comedy Y2K and marked his feature film debut in Olivia Wilde’s Booksmart. Gooding is repped by CAA, Sugar23 and Sloane, Offer, Weber & Dern.
Ruben’s feature directorial debut Scare Me premiered at Sundance 2020. He also starred on Dropout’s comedy series, Make Some Noise. He is repped by Artists First, CAA and Ginsburg Daniels Kallis.
Spyglass Media Group, LLC recently produced the Amazon MGM Studios the $55M-plus holiday hit The Boys in the Boat, and has the high school comedy Incoming as well as the iconic fashion competition television series Project Runway.

Clint Eastwood is arguably one of the greatest filmmakers of all time, along with having a highly successful acting career. Few actors have had such glorious directing careers and Ben Affleck and George Clooney are two names that come close to stature Eastwood built for himself in Hollywood.
Batman actor Ben Affleck frequently stars in films he directs (Credit: Warner Bros).
Ben Affleck and George Clooney have shared the honor of playing DC’s Batman on the big screen at different points in their career. However, when it comes to one world record, neither of the duo holds a candle in front of Eastwood. The veteran director holds one very unique Oscars record, which Affleck and Clooney will find hard to beat.

Each week we highlight the noteworthy titles that have recently hit streaming platforms in the United States. Check out this week’s selections below and past round-ups here.
The Boys in the Boat (George Clooney)
This is, from start to finish, an underdog sports picture. Edgerton puts a welcome spin on the gruff-but-caring coach archetype, and Turner does the same with his lead character. Soft-spoken, stern, and handsome, this is a role someone like Ronald Reagan would have excelled at bringing to the screen some 80 years ago; Turner, luckily, is more interesting to look at and a better actor. Alexandre Desplat’s score is maybe the most playful thing about this film, and it works when it needs to. The race sequences are unquestionably Boys‘ highlight, Clooney making use of zoom lenses and well-placed cameras to capture the speed and fluidity of each competition. There is a real tension mined in these scenes,...

Brad Pitt and George Clooney are “basically the same guy” in the trailer for Wolfs, an action thriller set to hit theaters Sept. 20. The movie marks the actors’ first time back onscreen together since 2008’s Burn After Reading (Ocean’s Thirteen arrived in 2007).
In the trailer for the film, directed by Jon Watts, Clooney plays an experienced fixer called in to deal with a dead body. Everything is going according to plan until another fixer, played by Pitt, shows up. Hijinks ensue, of course, and the two lone wolves are forced...

Brad Pitt and George Clooney are back together on film — outside of the “Ocean’s” cinematic universe.
The duo co-star in action-comedy movie “Wolfs,” which is written and directed by Jon Watts. In “Wolfs,” Clooney plays a professional fixer hired to cover up a high-profile crime. But when a second fixer (Pitt) shows up and the two “lone wolves” are forced to work together, they find their night spiraling out of control in ways that neither one of them expected. Just another night in the fixer industry, we imagine.
Amy Ryan, Austin Abrams, and Poorna Jagannathan co-star in “Wolfs.”
Both Clooney and Pitt produce the film, as do Watts, Grant Heslov, Dede Gardner, Jeremy Kleiner, and Dianne McGunigle. Michael Beugg executive produces.
Watts is also making a Steven Spielberg-inspired “Star Wars” series for Disney+ that will star Jude Law. Watts was actually supposed to direct the “Fantastic Four” reboot,...

George Clooney and Brad Pitt aren’t exactly team players in the first trailer for their new comedic thriller, Wolfs.
Sony Pictures is set to release Jon Watts’ movie in theaters Sept. 20. Amy Ryan, Austin Abrams and Poorna Jagannathan round out the cast in the feature that hails from Apple Studios and centers on two lone-wolf professional fixers hired to do the same job.
Watts (Spider-Man: No Way Home) wrote and directed Wolfs. Clooney and Grant Heslov produce for Smokehouse Pictures, while Pitt, Dede Gardner and Jeremy Kleiner produce for Plan B Entertainment. Watts and Dianne McGunigle are also producers.
In the trailer, released Wednesday, Clooney, a professional fixer, is hired to cover up a crime.
“There’s nobody who can do who I do,” he says as he gets to work.

Dark Matter releases on Apple TV+ on May 8th, 2024.
In 2016 Blake Crouch published his novel Dark Matter. It was a thrilling story exploring the possibilities of varying realities and alternate universes through the multiverse. The concept of the multiverse in entertainment was nothing new; however, this was years before the multiverse boom that now engulfs Marvel, DC and even the Oscars with hits like Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness and Everything Everywhere All At Once.
I had the chance to speak with the series’ star Jimmi Simpson and Executive Producers Blake Crouch and Matt Tolmach.
The Plot
Jason Desson (Joel Edgerton), his wife Daniela (Jennifer Connelly) and his friend Ryan (Jimmi Simpson) all have varying encounters with the multiverse in this parallel universe spanning thriller from writer Blake Crouch.

Having spent years in development limbo as films were announced only to vanish back into the ether, we are finally getting a screen version of William Gibson's iconic cyberpunk tome Neuromancer via a series in the works at Apple TV+. And the show's creative team is plucking an Apple TV veteran to star, as Masters Of The Air's Callum Turner is aboard in the lead role.
Gibson's book, which was first published in 1984, went on to receive a Hugo Award, a Nebula Award, and the Philip K. Dick Award. The novel follows Henry Case (the role Turner is taking), a washed-up hacker hired for one last job by a shady ex-military officer, which brings him in contact with a powerful artificial intelligence.
Gibson crafted two follow-ups, Count Zero and Mona Lisa Overdrive, which means there's material for future seasons if needed, or a potential anthology series. Graham Roland...

My guest this week is Callum Turner.
Turner is currently starring in Masters of the Air, Apple TV+’s World War II series following the American airmen stationed in England flying missions in B-17 Flying Fortress bombers. Making the series, in which he plays real-life airman Major John ‘Bucky’ Egan, left a very deep impression on Turner.
“They put themselves in the most volatile atmosphere ever known to a human being and the trauma that these men went through was so severe,” he says. “On some missions they would go out with 17 fortresses and come back with three, so they’d lose 140 men. I really don’t know how they did it… What they did for us and the way they did it was nothing but extraordinary, and that’s what I love about this show, that we honored them.”

Masters of the Air was a labor of love for executive producers Gary Goetzman, Tom Hanks and Steven Spielberg. The Apple TV+ series marks the third and final installment of the trio’s war drama miniseries, after Band of Brothers and The Pacific.
The series took three years to create and cost between $250 million and $300 million to produce, including a hefty $60 million in Covid compliance costs to film during the pandemic. The result was an epic nine-part series with 325 speaking parts and an amazing cast of up-and-coming actors.
“The best stories are from history,” said Goetzman during a discussion at the Deadline and Apple TV+ event Inside the Finale, joined by series cast members Barry Keoghan, Callum Turner, Rafferty Law, Josiah Cross, Nate Mann and Anthony Boyle. “Nonfiction is always more fascinating than fiction, and there’s no greater stories of human cost, triumph, passion, love… the biggest story of...
