Legendary Entertainment is partnering with Caroline Fraser of HarperCollins Productions (Carmen Sandiego) to produce a live-action Danny and the Dinosaur film, based on the bestselling children’s picture book series by Syd Hoff.
HarperCollins Productions optioned media rights to the series from the Author’s Guild Foundation, which shares them with the Anti-Defamation League Foundation, Ort America, Inc., and the United Negro College Fund, Inc.
The original book, published by HarperCollins in 1958, follows a young boy and a dinosaur who set off on a series of wonderful adventures together after meeting at a museum. It was followed up by six sequels penned by Hoff, with the full set selling more than 11 million copies in 12 languages.
Hoff penned dozens of books for both children and adult readers prior to his passing in May 2004 at age 91. The New York City native was also known for his creation of thousands of cartoons — including...

Apple TV+ has announced premiere dates for new and returning shows geared toward kids and families. Viewers will see Eva the Owlet (new series), Frog and Toad (new series), Jane (new series), Harriet the Spy (season two), Pinecone & Pony (season two), Pretzel and the Puppies (season two), and Stillwater (season three) on the streaming service in the months to come.
Sago Mini Friends, a new special, will also be released, along with the A Charlie Brown Valentine special (above). The latter first aired on ABC in 2002.

Apple TV+ announced its spring kids and family slate, which includes Peanuts specials new to the platform, a variety of original series and a “Frog and Toad” show, based on the beloved Arnold Lobel books.
“Frog and Toad,” premiering on April 28, boasts a voice cast including Nat Faxon, Kevin Michael Richardson, Ron Funches, Fortune Feimster, Cole Escola, Aparna Nancherla, Yvette Nicole Brown, Margaret Cho and more. Rob Hoegee serves as showrunner, with Titmouse producing the animation. EPs are Hoegee, Adrianne Lobel, Adam Lobel and Titmouse’s Chris Prynoski, Shannon Prynoski, Antonio Canobbio and Ben Kalina.

HBO Max has unveiled the first trailer for “Julia,” an upcoming series about the life of beloved culinary icon Julia Child.
Created by Daniel Goldfarb (“The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel”), “Julia” focuses on Child (played in the series by Sarah Lancashire) during the years following the publication of her iconic cookbook “Mastering the Art of French Cooking.” The series sees Child kickstarting her first television series, “The French Chef,” at the public television station Wgbh. Child faces opposition from the sexist and elitist producers at the station, but with the help of her friends and allies, transforms her television show into a certified phenomenon.
“I hope you have as much fun as I did,” Lancashire says during the trailer, emulating Child’s sign-off from her show. “Bon Appétit.”
