Jon Hamm agrees that it’s time him and “The Morning Show” costar Jennifer Aniston made a romantic comedy together.
While speaking to IndieWire about his recent Emmy nominations for the Apple TV+ drama – where he played a conniving tech billionaire and Aniston’s love interest in Season 3 – and FX’s “Fargo,” Hamm was asked about the possibility of starring in a rom-com. Aniston had previously said she’d like the pair to be in one together.
“I have no idea what it would look like,” Hamm said. “I think it would just have to be funny and fun and it would let us do what we both do very well, which is be charming and funny and compelling. I certainly wouldn’t say no to that.”

When casting a love interest for Alex Levy on “The Morning Show,” it was Jennifer Aniston who recommended Jon Hamm for the part of tech billionaire boyfriend Paul Marks.
Fans of the Apple TV+ drama (and/or basic privacy laws) know how well that worked out for the two characters at the end of Season 3, but Hamm may still reprise the role. Speaking with IndieWire, the Emmy-winning “Mad Men” actor — who is nominated twice this year for “The Morning Show” and “Fargo” — confirmed that. He voiced his interest in leading a feature rom-com with Aniston, a fellow nominee.

When it comes to comedy, "Saturday Night Live" is one of the best gigs an actor can get. The show has produced some of the biggest stars in the business: Bill Murray, Eddie Murphy, Will Ferrell, Tina Fey, Amy Poehler, and many more. But that list of comedy greats isn't complete without Kristin Wiig, who was a cast member on "SNL" from 2005 to 2012. Wiig's work on the show resulted in some of the most memorable sketches of the 21st century. Who could forget Gilly, the overly-excited Sue, or the beloved Target Lady?
While she was on the show, Wiig began dipping her toe into feature films, with small parts in comedies like "Knocked Up" and "Forgetting Sarah Marshall." Her biggest career moment came in 2011 with the release of "Bridesmaids," which she co-wrote and starred in alongside Maya Rudolph. Wiig also has a number of indie movies on her filmography, including...

Jordan Belfort, the real-life con-man who was immortalized by Leonardo DiCaprio in Martin Scorsese’s “The Wolf of Wall Street,” is suing the film’s producers for fraud and breach of contract. (Via Variety.) Belfort filed a lawsuit to the tune of $300 million in Los Angeles Superior Court against Riza Aziz’s Red Granite Pictures, claiming he was not aware the film was funded by money that was stolen from the Malaysian government.
Aziz is currently facing money-laundering charges related to the raiding of the massive investment fund 1Mdb which was set up by his step father, the disgraced former Malaysian prime minister Najib Razak. He was arrested on corruption charges in Malaysia in July of last year.
Belfort claims that Red Granite’s embezzlement scandal has negatively affected the rights to his life story, and that he would have never agreed to the contract had he known where the money was coming from.

Jennifer Westfeldt (Friends With Kids) has joined the Season 4 cast of TV Land’s Younger in a recurring role opposite Sutton Foster. Westfeldt plays Pauline, a writer that Liza (Foster) meets at a pitch festival who happens to have a great idea for a book – a fiction novel based on her very real and very unfulfilling marriage. Leaden and witless, though it obviously believes there is humor in its loud, chaotic juvenility. It would be an insult to cartoons to call this cartoonish. I’m “biast” (pro): nothing

Apparently the original Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, when they debuted way back in the 1980s, were intended as a parody of superhero comics. I picked up this tidbit from the Tmnt wikipedia page. I did not absorb it through some sort of cinematic osmosis while watching the new Tmnt movie, Out of the Shadows. That would have been impossible. Whatever the truth of the long-ago comic-book Turtles, there is absolutely nothing that marks them as satirical here. (This may also be true of the 2014 movie that rebooted this franchise, but I have so far managed to avoid that one. If only that had...

A couple of weeks ago, I noted that New Girl had evolved into such an ensemble comedy that it would be just fine during Zooey Deschanel's six-episode maternity leave. So far, we've had two episodes — both of them, like the last few with Deschanel, filmed immediately after production on last season wrapped, so the show could get them done before they lost the star for a while — just featuring the remaining castmembers (plus guests like Fred Armisen, Bill Burr, and Lennon Parham), but the remainder of Deschanel's absence will revolve around the introduction of a temporary addition to the loft: Reagan, a pharmaceutical sales rep played by Megan Fox. Fox has some comedy on her resume, so it's not a complete surprise that she works out quite well in the two episodes I've seen with her. But it's a significant change in the show's usual dynamics, since Reagan is...

It’s been confirmed that the upcoming Jumanji remake will be helmed by the guy who also directed Sex Tape — Jake Kasdan.
Kasdan’s career sways smoothly between movies, including Zero Effect, Friends with Kids, and Bad Teacher, and sitcom TV series such as New Girl, Californication, Ben and Kate, Fresh off the Boat, and others.
At first blush, I wouldn’t really say that he looks like the perfect match for Jumanji (taking into consideration his filmography which consists of more comedic productions), but maybe the idea of him directing the remake will grow on me.
Jumanji is set to hit the big screens on December 25th, 2016.

TV shows have found many different ways over the years to work around the pregnancy of their actresses. Sometimes, they do lots of episodes where their characters are always sitting behind a desk, or holding a giant purse, or (in a memorable "Cheers" episode when Shelley Long was pregnant) trapped in an air conditioning duct. "The X-Files" had Scully get abducted, while "Frasier" simply suggested that Daphne had just put on a lot of weight. "New Girl" is taking a multi-pronged approach for its next season. The first five episodes were filmed at the end of production for last season, and to allow the show to resume production while Zoey Deschanel is on maternity leave, Jess will be sequestered on jury duty for a few episodes. And on top of that, the loft will temporarily get a new roommate, played by... ... Megan Fox? Per the press release, "Fox will play 'Reagan,...

Though Jon Hamm and Jennifer Westfeldt officially announced on Monday that they were ending their relationship after 18 years, rumors of a rift had been circulating for months.

While the source says Westfeldt, 45, kept a "tight leash" on Hamm, "she would also take care of him and support him" during difficult times – and after hard nights of partying.

After having one of the most enduring Hollywood relationships in recent memory, Jon Hamm and longtime girlfriend Jennifer Westfeldt have called it quits.
Hamm and Westfeldt, who had been together for 18 years, confirmed the break-up to People, saying in a joint statement that the decision was amicable.
"With great sadness, we have decided to separate, after 18 years of love and shared history," the statement said. "We will continue to be supportive of each other in every way possible moving forward."
The "Mad Men" star and the "Friends with Kids" actress had been an enduring symbol of stability in quickie marriage-obsessed Hollywood, and had been together since 1997. But rumors of a split surfaced earlier this year, around the time that Hamm revealed he had entered rehab for alcohol addiction, and though they denied any trouble at the time, the cracks were apparently already beginning to form.

For the last decade or so, you probably know Edward Burns as one of two people: The first is that charming New Yorkah who pops up in romantic comedies like "The Holiday," "27 Dresses," "Friends With Kids" and even "Will & Grace." He's snagged a few roles as cops in a couple of studio flicks, as well, but he's a tried and true "Prince Charming"-type for anyone who loves a thick Queens accent. That person, though, is Edward Burns, Studio Actor. Far more interesting to the indie community and film fans at large is Edward Burns, Writer, Actor, Producer and Director. Since his debut film, "The Brothers McMullen," took home the Grand Jury Prize at the Sundance Film Festival in 1995, Burns hasn't stopped writing — and directing, and producing, and acting and more. He's been pumping out character-driven indie films for two decades now, and helping push VOD distribution into the mainstream along the way.

Right now the big box office battle is between a genetically modified killer dinosaur and a group of emotions inside the mind of a twelve year-old girl. Of course, I’m referring to Pixar’s smash Inside Out. Now one of the main reasons Joy and the gang are in a frenzy is the recent cross-country move by the family of said, often sad, girl, Riley. Yes, this up-rooting can be truly traumatic for the kiddies. But what about their parents? Are they also worried about making new friends. This new film answers that question with a resounding yes. But it’s definitely not an all-ages romp, for this flick owes little to Disney, and more to Mazursky. The late director Paul to be precise, for this echoes his late-sixties counter-culture cinema classic Bob & Carol & Ted & Alice. So, this is a different kind of play date (nudge, nudge, wink,wink...

Strangely dropping a press release on a historic day where the nation's attention is elsewhere, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences revealed their annual list of new member invitees this morning. For those who criticize the makeup of the Academy there was some good news and the stark realization the organization still has a long way to go. The Academy has spent the last eight to 10 years attempting to diversify its membership and this year's class mostly reflects that. There are significantly more invitees of Asian and African-American descent, but the male to female disparity is still depressing. Out of the 25 potential new members of the Actor's Branch only seven are women. And, no, there isn't really an acceptable way for the Academy to spin that sad fact. Additionally, It's important to realize the 322 people noted in the release have only been invited to join Hollywood's most exclusive club.

Exclusive: After November’s Dumb And Dumber To scored $128 million worldwide (and counting), it’s a no-brainer that Red Granite would want to stay in the Jim Carrey business. I hear the finance and production shingle led by Riza Aziz and Joey McFarland has snapped up comedy pitch Deep Cover from writer Johnny Rosenthal. If deal sticks it’ll be a starring vehicle for Carrey, continuing his successful relationship with Red Granite, while Carrey would also produce alongside Michael Aguilar for their Some Kind Of Garden banner.
Plot details of the original pitch are being kept under wraps. This summer Rosenthal sold The Three Tenors to Lionsgate. He’s also got action comedy Iron Jack in development at Sony and wrote Bad Santa 2 for Dimension.

Summer 2014 has come to a thudding close. These past four months have had their ups and downs, but overall this summer wasn’t as bad as the headlines are making it out to be. Despite a significant dip in attendance, there were all kinds of good movies. If you were disappointed by a film this summer, odds are that whatever film you saw next likely left you satisfied. Plus, even though there wasn’t a ton of originality this summer, at least there was variety. This fall is packed with both variety and originality. The remainder of the year should get any film fan excited since we’ll be seeing films from Paul Thomas Anderson, David Fincher, Christopher Nolan, Ridley Scott, Bennet Miller and other beloved storytellers. We’ll have reviews for some of those films as festival season rolls along, so keep an eye out. All of that kicks off this month. So...

The other day, a pregnant friend said she was scared of giving birth after watching Friends With Kids. In that movie, Jennifer Westfeldt‘s character is in a lot of pain during labor, despite having an epidural (drugs). Being an expert, I guess, having just experienced the birth of my second kid, I told her to relax. Sure, some women still feel some pressure during delivery, but for the most part it’s all numb down there. That is the point of paying thousands of dollars to get it. I only recently saw Friends With Kids for the first time myself, and I was surprised that such a stereotypical birth scene was made this decade. Especially for how otherwise aware it was. Adam Scott‘s character at least addresses the epidural by name, but for the most part the scene is wrong, including the stuff involving episiotomy (I’ll let you look that one up). Westfeldt, who...
