Although the film is based on Dragon Ball (1986), Nappa from Dragon Ball Z (1989) makes an appearance in the film.
Chronologically speaking, this is the first live-action adaptation of Akira Toriyama's "Dragon Ball" manga (although an unlicensed and therefore unofficial adaptation).
Despite not becoming an official actor until he was 35 years old in 2011 where he starred in drama TV Shows, Sung-tae heo was always curious about becoming an actor. It was more of a fantasy/interesting curiosity rather than a dream and he was insecure about it, stating in a 2021 interview that he used to believe that "acting was not for him." At a young age, He practiced acting for fun (though he never went to any acting classes), and this movie was his chance to test the waters (20 years before he hit it mainstream). He was just 12 years old when he played Goku in this movie. Heo also reprised his role as Goku in the short-lived bootlegged series, Gangdagu Fighter (1992). Despite this being his debut, Heo grew to become ashamed of the projects he was in and tried to keep it out of light for many years. Going as far to deny them and never even considering them acting roles. Sometime after working on this movie, Heo took a hiatus from his acting phase for 22 years (until he became an official actor in 2011) and sold televisions in the Russian market for LG Corporation. He later joined the planning and coordination department of a shipbuilding company. Heo finally began his official mainstream acting career in 2011 when he entered in SBS's talent show Miraculous Audition. According to Heo, he drunkenly signed up to audition after seeing a commercial for the show. Despite this movie being an acting debut for Heo, it was also unofficial as this movie was a fan film. So therefore, it didn't really kickstart his acting career.
This is Sung-tae heo's acting debut.
