After a six month search, “Wheel of Fortune” has found a new executive producer in Bellamie Blackstone, who takes the helm of the show as it heads into its 40th anniversary season.
Blackstone’s appointment also closes the book on the Mike Richards era of “Wheel of Fortune” and “Jeopardy.”
A former executive producer of “The Price is Right,” Richards joined both Sony Pictures Entertainment game shows as executive producer in 2020. Last year, he was given the additional job as host of “Jeopardy.” But he parted ways entirely with Sony in August 2021 — only one week into the hosting gig — after reports surfaced about old podcasts in which he made sophomoric and disparaging remarks about Jews and women. Richards was replaced in the short term on “Jeopardy” by alternating hosts Mayim Bialik and Ken Jennings.

Nearly 20 years later, “Joe Millionaire” returns this January with a revised format that puts a twist on the original ratings smash. But at least one thing remains the same in “Joe Millionaire: For Richer or Poorer” — and that’s the presence of a butler, assisting the Joes and driving the action. Variety can now reveal who the show’s new butler is: Actor, musician, author and celebrity impersonator Martin Andrew.
As butler, Andrew will also serve as host of “Joe Millionaire: For Richer or Poorer” and act as a guide for the contestants. The original 2003 “Joe Millionaire” featured both a butler and a host (Alex McLeod); in this new version, Andrew takes on both roles.
“I honestly fell in love with this guy,” said executive producer SallyAnn Salsano. “It was the right fit. This guy was great. I felt like it’s definitely more integrated [than the 2003 version]. I feel like this gentleman...

The merger frenzy in Hollywood moved to a new level this week when Reese Witherspoon’s Hello Sunshine was bought for a stunning $900 million by a pair of former Disney executives, Tom Staggs and Kevin Mayer, for their new as-yet-nameless Blackstone-backed media company. Staggs and Mayer, who also are part of the tidal wave of SPACs that have popped up over the last year, are seeking to create a company that will roll up a number of independent content companies, with Witherspoon’s Hello Sunshine as the first in their fold, they told TheWrap in an interview. The two explained the staggering valuation they placed on a company that has produced hits like HBO’s “Big Little Lies,” Hulu’s “Little Fires Everywhere” and Apple TV+ series “The Morning Show” — but doesn’t actually have an extensive library of content that it owns. And they talked up the e-commerce strengths,...

Esai Morales talked to Daemon's Movies recently and they have a nice, long interview up on their site today. It's mostly about Gun Hill Road, but he also talks about Caprica and his new projects. A few quotes:
On Gun Hill Road:
How was it watching other people react to such an intimate film?
Esai Morales: Mind blowing. It was really freaky. I was nervous. I didn’t expect the movie to be as good as it turned out to be, to be honest with you. That’s no aspersions to anyone, per se, but it was just such a small, little heartfelt film. Rashaad [Ernesto Green] had never done a feature length film before and you have some concerns. So when I saw the rough cut I was like, ‘Wow. This is not bad.’ Still, I was thinking, ‘Are they going to get it?’ Then when I saw it...
