Lamorne Morris’ three-year-old daughter is getting used to seeing her dad’s face all over town. Morris is the spokesperson for Bmo bank, which recently arrived in Southern California with an advertising blitz — all with Morris’ face on it.
Now, the actor says she’s ready to start her creative career as well. Sort of. He tells Variety‘s Awards Circuit Podcast that whenever his daughter gets in trouble at school, they send her home a bit early and she gets to join her dad at work. And that’s where the fun begins.
“She’s now quite accustomed to being on set,” Morris said. “When the Ad will say quiet on set or rolling, she will start to let everyone know that it’s time to be quiet on set. So much so that she’s now the loud one. She won’t stop screaming: ‘Quiet on set!'...

Rose Byrne is closing one chapter of her career and opening another as her comedy series “Physical” came to an end after three seasons, allowing her to move on to “Platonic,” both on Apple TV+.
“I feel grateful to talk about the work, you know that the strike, we couldn’t really talk about season three of ‘Physical,’ which was such a shame because I’m so proud of the season and it’s our finale,” she tells Gold Derby.”I feel excited to be able to discuss the projects, and they’re so very different, both of them. It’s fun to be part of such different shows.” Watch our full video interview about both shows above.
“Platonic” reunites Byrne with her “Neighbors” co-star Seth Rogen, about former childhood best friends who reconnect as adults and try to get past the rift that led to their falling out.

Seth Rogen has gotten into TV in a big way: As star and EP of Apple TV+’s “Platonic,” exec producer of Prime Video’s “The Boys” franchise, animated series like “Invincible” and “Sausage Party: Foodtopia,” and his upcoming Hollywood satire “The Studio,” also for Apple. But he’s still bullish on film as well. “I think people still like movies,” he tells Variety‘s Awards Circuit Podcast. “Last year, lots of movies did very well. I think if movies were going go away, they would have a long time ago.”
Rogen is passionate about this point. “Paintings are still around. People still go to museums! There’s things flashier or more ‘interesting’ than then oil on canvas, but people still flock from all over the world, enough to keep museums open. Not a ton of people have to like movies to keep movies going. It’s always been a...

Reese Witherspoon and Will Ferrell are not in the mood to share their wedding venue in the first trailer for the comedy feature You’re Cordially Invited.
Amazon released the promo Tuesday for director Nicholas Stoller’s movie that is set to begin streaming via Prime Video on Jan. 30, 2025. The film centers on a father (Ferrell) who learns that the venue for his daughter’s nuptials has been double-booked by a different bride and her wedding-planner sister (Witherspoon). Geraldine Viswanathan, Meredith Hagner and Jimmy Tatro round out the cast.
“Let’s get something straight,” Ferrell warns Witherspoon in the trailer. “If I look out on that dock, and that bride’s not my baby girl, that bride’s going in the fucking lake.”
Witherspoon responds, “I’m gonna kick your ass, and it’s going to be embarrassing because you’re big, and I’m little.”

Getting married is demanding enough, but perhaps one of the most stressful jobs on planet Earth, especially if you’re a family member, is the job of a wedding planner. So, a colossal wedding mix-up that creates a massive world of tension, anxiety, and stress is the launching pad idea for “You’re Cordially Invited,” an R-rated comedy about a pair of wedding planners who discover their destination wedding was accidentally double-booked. The comedy comes from writer/director Nicholas Stoller, who studied under the Judd Apatow school of comedy and directed such hit films as “Bros,” “Neighbors,” “Five Year Engagement,” and the co-creator of the Apple TV+ series, “Platonic.”

Platonic creators and real-life husband and wife Francesca Delbanco and Nicholas Stoller took a break from writing Season 2 of their Apple TV+ and Sony Pictures Television show to speak with Deadline about Season 1. But, looking ahead, they promised fans can expect the same screw-ups out of Sylvia (Rose Byrne) and Will (Seth Rogen).
“These two characters have their insecurities and issues,” Stoller said at Contenders TV. “Those won’t be solved by a marriage and starting a wedding planning business. We’re all always the same messed up people at all times. No matter what you do, you’re still dealing with those issues.”
The season finale set up Will with a fiancée and Sylvia starting her new business. Those stories will continue over the season, with episodic banter and exploits.
“We want to do more of the same thing,” Delbanco said. “We know it has to be a little bit different.

Gather all your friends. Platonic is headed back to Apple TV + for Season 2.
In some ways, Platonic Season 1 felt like a limited series, but we're excited to have more time with Will, Sylvia, Charlie, and the other characters.
Platonic filled us with lots of drama and laughter, mainly because Rose Bryne and Seth Rogan worked together previously on the comedic film "Neighbors" along with creators and writers Francesca Delbanco and Nicholas Stoller.
Let's hope the second season is as successful as the first one.
While the second season may be a ways off, let's discuss possible release dates, Season 2 plot lines, cast, and everything we know so far.

Apple TV + renewed Platonic for Season 2 in December 2023. While the buddy comedy was initially planned as a limited series, it attracted a large following.

Apple TV+ is taking a shot at another sports-related comedy.
The streamer behind Ted Lasso has placed a series order for a show starring Owen Wilson as a former pro golfer who needs to get his life back in order. The Loki star will also be an executive producer of the untitled series, which comes from Apple Studios and creator Jason Keller (Ford v. Ferrari).
Wilson will play Pryce Cahill, whose golf career ended prematurely 20 years ago. After he gets fired from his job at a sporting goods store in Indiana and his wife leaves him, Pryce sees a troubled 17-year-old golf phenom as his way back.
The series seems to echo Ted Lasso in its sports-world setting and the possibility of a redemption arc for its main character. It will join a comedy roster at Apple TV+ that also includes Shrinking, Platonic, Loot and the upcoming Palm Royale.

Can men and women ever truly be "just friends?" Well, considering I'm a disco-dancing, Oscar Wilde-reading, Streisand ticket-holding friend of Dorothy ... that's never been a problem for me. However, I've heard some downright horror stories from my straight gal pals regarding their relationships with other straight men, and likewise, I've listened to many a tale of my straight guy friends worried that their feelings for straight girl friends were becoming romantic. But this is by no means the dominant narrative. Platonic relationships between men and women are not only possible but extremely common, despite what a majority of TV shows and movies would have us believe.
This is why the half-hour Apple TV+ comedy series "Platonic" has been such a refreshing new watch. Starring and executive produced by Rose Byrne and Seth Rogen, and co-created, directed, and co-written by Nick Stoller and Francesca Delbanco, "Platonic" centers on a pair...

Jon Hamm is getting his own Apple show — finally!
The Emmy-winning Mad Men grad, who previously “begged” Apple for a show of his own in a tongue-in-cheek ad for the streamer, will star in and exec produce the straight-to-series Apple drama Your Friends and Neighbors. The role marks Hamm’s first starring role in an ongoing drama series since AMC’s Mad Men wrapped its seven-season run in 2015.
Your Friends and Neighbors, based on an original idea by Jonathan Tropper (See, Warrior, Banshee), revolves around Coop (Hamm), a recently divorced hedge fund manager who, after being fired, resorts to stealing from the wealthy residents in his tony upstate New York suburb in order to keep his family’s lifestyle afloat. The petty crimes begin to reinvigorate him until he breaks into the wrong house at the wrong time.
Tropper will serve as showrunner and exec produce via his overall deal with Apple.

Back in May, the first season of the comedy series Platonic, which stars Neighbors and Neighbors 2: Sorority Rising co-stars Seth Rogen and Rose Byrne, aired on Apple TV+… and it clearly went over quite well, as Deadline reports that Apple TV+ has ordered more episodes of the show. Platonic season 2 is a go!
JoBlo’s own Alex Maidy gave the first season of the show an 8/10 review you can read at This Link. He described the show as “light and enjoyable” and said “hanging out with Rose Byrne and Seth Rogen for half-hour segments is full of laughs”. In fact, there were enough hilarious moments in each episode, he felt it made up for the narrative shortcomings in the series. I haven’t seen Platonic yet myself, but Alex’s review has definitely made me want to check it out.

“We’re so thrilled to have the opportunity to tell more stories with Seth, Rose and everyone at Apple TV+ and Sony,” said co-creators Nick Stoller and Francesca Delbanco. “Season Two spoiler alert: Will and Sylvia won’t get together this time either.”

Apple TV+ has picked up a second season of Platonic, its hit half-hour comedy starring and executive produced by Rose Byrne and Seth Rogen.
The series has become one of Apple TV+’s best performing comedies since its summer premiere, according to the streamer.
Co-created, directed and co-written by Nick Stoller and Francesca Delbanco, Platonic follows a platonic pair of former best friends approaching midlife (Rogen and Byrne) who reconnect after a long rift. The duo’s friendship becomes all-consuming — and destabilizes their lives in a hilarious way.

It’s official: Platonic is returning.
Apple TV+ has doled out a second season to the comedy starring Rose Byrne (Sylvia) and Seth Rogen (Will), who play best friends (and only best friends). The duo also serve as executive producers on the series from their former Neighbors director Nick Stoller and his wife Francesca Delbanco. In a statement, the co-creators teased: “Season Two spoiler alert: Will and Sylvia won’t get together this time either.”
Though the streaming service doesn’t reveal viewership metrics, it’s been busy hailing Platonic as a “hit comedy,” which it certainly is among critics. “Since the first episodes of Platonic debuted on Apple TV+, global audiences have been charmed by the hilarious, wildly fun and relatable friendship that Rose and Seth have brought to life through their charismatic performances,” added Matt Cherniss, head of programming for Apple TV+, in a statement.

Seth Rogen and Rose Byrne played a happily married couple to great success in the Neighbors films. But when the franchise’s director, Nicholas Stoller, approached them to star opposite each other in his and wife Francesca Delbanco’s Apple TV+ comedy Platonic, he was after a different dynamic.
He was eager to trade on their chemistry while assuring audiences that their characters, who play longtime friends, would never actually hook up. Rogen and Byrne both jumped in, debuting their first hard-r — or, in this case, TV-ma — comedy in years.
With the actors strike behind them, the duo hopped on a Zoom from opposite coasts in early December to discuss their onscreen partnership, the future of the series and why Rogen fears his scalp may never be the same.
Why was this the next project that you two wanted to do together?

Sony Pictures Televisions’ Ravi Ahuja has described how the U.S. market had become “too hot” and “inefficient” over recent years, but is now moving towards a healthier “cooling phase.”
During a keynote interview at Content London, Spt’s Chairman of Global Television Studios said the U.S. market was “getting back to normal” two weeks after the SAG-AFTRA deal was unveiled, though it has been a “mad scramble” to get productions back up and running.
“This is an interesting inflection point for our industry,” he added, pointing to Covid, the streaming reset and other market factors. “So many things have happened. It’s a new normal, let’s look at it that way.”
Ahuja said that volumes of programs being ordered had dropped off “a decent amount, even before the strikes.”
He added: “Against the strikes, the ad market contraction around the world and the streaming reset happening at the same time,...

This post contains spoilers for "Goosebumps" episodes 9 and 10.
Readers beware, you're in for a scare ... just kidding. It's an interview. But! It is related to the new Hulu and Disney+ adaptation of "Goosebumps," based on the beloved young-adult horror series of the same name from R.L. Stine. In just 10 episodes, the new "Goosebumps" series is a triumph of horror, comedy, and some well-placed nostalgia -- a series that speaks to both the generation that grew up begging parents to buy them the books from the Scholastic Book Fair and raced home to watch new episodes of the TV show after school (It's me. Hi!), as well as new viewers getting into the "Goosebumps" universe for the first time. When I reviewed the new show, I had only been given the first eight episodes, which felt like its own contained season. But with two more episodes unseen, it was a sign...
