I do think that Joanne Froggatt is a good actress, but it seems she always playing the woman who has been raped as in Downton Abby and Liar. Now with this she playing almost the same person this time just a woman who has an abusive husband. I would like to see her playing something different however. This show is not bad but the PI just seems off in couple ways, and I am unsure if he is a villain or a good guy!

OK, of course the plot is bonkers. Yes Angela is the most gullible person on TV and yes it is unrealistic. But for all that 'Angela Black' kept me entertained and made me watch till the very end. Joanne Froggatt is always watchable but needs to stretch herself a bit now as she does seem to play the same type of role. I reckon there is plenty to come from her.
Decently acted, just leave you sense of reality at the door.

Don't get the appalling reviews on here. I quite enjoyed binging this. Solid acting and easy to watch . It's not a classic but give it a go . Just don't expect to be wowed!

After episode 3 things start to get more interesting. This is not as simple a story as it may seem. Not a brilliant show but interesting. Plus with Joanne Froggett in it it will always be watchable. Put yourself in her shoes - what would you think / do?

Angela Black is a suspenseful six part series from ITV, it doesn't follow any of the conventional rules, it seems to take you in a particular direction, but has a habit in moving you somewhere else.
Its very dramatic, and full of twists and turns, it shows the darker side of human nature, and how cruel one person can be.
You'll have to wait until the last episode to learn what's happening, it may just surprise you, I urge you to stick with it, as the ending is very satisfying.
The question you'll be asking throughout, will she be believed?
Terrific acting, Froggat and Huisman are both fantastic, he is chilling in parts, a very sincere villain. A very good supporting cast here also.
8/10.

... bleak w/o-many-smiles (actually-none) ... and it takes several episodes to really get going ... when it finally does it's pretty good ... could they have done it all in one season.. probably ... the wait better be worth it should it go to another season.
I had high hopes for this after initial moments of episode one but halfway through episode two I'm hoping Angela Black gets bumped off!
She has zero emotion especially in her voice not sure if this is intentional or even Joanne Froggat gave up herself.
She is not in the slightest bit a likeable character and I have no vested interest in if or how she survives.
Yet to even find one character that is appealing and why are so many child actors these days so poor? They need to stay away from acting school and be more natural.
Disappointing to say the least.

I truly don't understand why all these bad reviews. This drama might start slow but I think it's the built up needed for next episodes. Plus it's all about physical and emotional abuse.
It has good twists and great cast.
So don't give up and keep watching.

I'm on episode 3 and was hoping it would be the last. Totally agree with other reviews, why didn't she just go to the police? Someone needs to die, and quick.

Great character development, tight, suspenseful plotting and powerful performances all round. The lead actress sustains an intensity and authenticity across every episode, not easy considering what she goes through. Joanne Froggatt is so watchable- her detailed facial movements and presence convey subtle emotional pitches. I like the direction and use of location, the focus on the three of them creating a closed world that echoes the claustrophobic narrative. Nothing is wasted- no lull in the middle episodes, this builds to one hell of a climax that, true to form, avoids many of the cliches of the genre. Can you tell I liked it?

Totally implausible, more holes than a fishing net in the plot. Joanne Froggatt is a really good actress but even she can't rescue this dire script, not a single believable character, giving up after the second episode, can't believe they've dragged it out to 6.

I genuinely can't understand the bad reviews! I am a tough audience when it comes to TV shows like this, but this story line is gripping! Based on the first 3 episodes, I'd recommend it!

Is this the slowest drama on television? Three episodes in and still no further forward than episode one. Joanne Froggatt is a good actress but it's too similar to Liar. Overall it's too dull for its own good.

As much as I wanted to have sympathy for the main character I just could not get past her stupidity. I struggled on to episode 2, but when she said she was staying rather than walking away with nothing (err hello, heard of matrimonial property and or alimony?) Only to then conside4 murder...sorry, I'm out.
Well off, seemingly literate and well connected socially she is not, as the synopsis would have you think 'trapped' in this toxic relationship, she chooses. Then there's the eyer olling 'tension' as she creeps about the house at the most ridiculous times to catch her husband out, or make a pathetic attemot at leaving...spare me.
Angela may not be able to make good decisions, dont be like Angela. Dont invite this nonsense into your home.

Angela Black is a great, binge worthy psychological thriller that isn't what it initially appears to be with suspense and plot twists throughout.
I'm seeing a lot of bad reviews, but I'm honestly unsure as to why so many people hated it so much and found it so boring. It's definitely a slow burn, but not all shows need to be all action, all the time in order to get you in.
Angela is a woman in a physically and mentally abusive marriage who finds herself terrified to leave her husband or report his abuse to police (many people experiencing abuse don't disclose to anyone). One day she is approached by a mysterious stranger who informs her that he is a PI hired by her husband to follower her, and now her husband has gone one step further and wants her dead as well, in order to be rid of her and take their children. Out of fear for her life and due to the years of physical and mental abuse she has suffered, her next steps really make the plot thicken..
I shan't add spoilers, however I will say that this show is definitely worth watching til the end - especially if you enjoy a good psychological thriller.

What a waste of time those 6 hours were. As with many drama series in recent years starts with a bang and fizzles out. I honestly thought there must be another episode. Because the story was wrapped up too quickly and too conveniently with too many unlikely coincidences and unanswered questions. I could pick many holes in the plot but there are so many and I've wasted enough time on this series as it is. All I will say is the actors deserved a better script.

This could have been a 3 episode series and all the better for it. The idea is OK if a bit done to death, but the writing is just dull, unrealistic and assumes the audience are dull witted.
TV dramas seem to be getting more and more plodding at the moment.
