Contrary to the statement on the poster, this film does not tell a true story. However director Mark Vadik claims that elements of the story are inspired by Fritz Haarmann, the "Butcher of Hanover" who terrorized boys and men in post-WWI Germany, a killer who was also the inspiration for M (1931) among other films.
Composer Alan Howarth did a score that was not used for the film. On November 15, 2019, Dragon's Domain Records released it as part of a compilation set called The Alan Howarth Collection: Volume 1.
