Brand collaborations are nothing new, but I'm always impressed with how Lush consistently goes above and beyond with not only the designs of pop culture-inspired products but also the dedication to in-universe scent profiles and embracing gimmicks that feel right at home with inspiration for the line in the first place. I still dream about the Princess Peach products from last year's "Super Mario Bros. Movie" line, but their new line inspired by DreamWorks Animation's "Shrek" franchise is certainly filling the void. If 2023 was the year of the clean girl aesthetic, 2024 is definitely the year of the swampy girl. Lush is ready to provide that contrast and set a new trend, where we're all embracing our inner ogre — every last oniony layer of it. Shrek is love. Shrek is life. Here's what Lush had to say about the line:
"Inspired by Shrek's journey from a self-loathing to a self-accepting ogre,...

The Avenue has landed North American rights to the action comedy “Old Guy,” starring Christoph Waltz, Lucy Liu and Cooper Hoffman.
Simon West directed the film, while “The Last Son” scribe Greg Johnson penned the script.
The film follows aging contract killer Danny Dolinski (Waltz), who still believes he’s the best at what he does. Stuck at a dead end but vying for the love of club manager Anata (Liu), Danny is thrilled when The Company pulls him back in the field — but it’s only to train Gen Z newcomer Wihlborg (Hoffman), a prodigy assassin with an attitude. The mismatched pair is asked to eliminate top members of a competing crime syndicate and, in the process, uncover their employer’s true motive: removing the old guard in a full takeover. However, The Company didn’t anticipate that Danny’s experience, coupled with Wihlbord’s brilliance, could enable them...

Last year, Disney+ started sending some of its original programming to physical media with limited edition SteelBook releases for the first two seasons of "The Mandalorian," as well as the Marvel Studios shows "WandaVision" and "Loki." This year, the House of Mouse will continue sending "Star Wars" and Marvel shows to 4K and Blu-ray with a whole new roster of SteelBook releases.
The Walt Disney Company has announced that the first season of "Andor" and the limited series run of "Obi-Wan Kenobi" are among the second wave of releases coming to physical media from Disney+. Interestingly enough, "Obi-Wan Kenobi" is referred to as the "complete series," which would seem to put a damper on any hopes that we might get a second season of the series with Ewan McGregor.

This is Day 115 of the WGA strike and Day 42 of the SAG-AFTRA strike.
“I can’t believe I’m headlining this,” Tony Gilroy quipped Thursday as the last speaker at a Writers Guild picket in New York City honoring screenwriters. The Andor creator-writer and Bourne Legacy screenwriter followed three of his contemporaries — former WGA East President Beau Willimon, Mauricio Zacharias and James Hart — in delivering pep talks steeped in Hollywood labor history to more than 300 demonstrators outside Warner Bros. Disney and Netflix offices.
“We cannot be weak,” Gilroy told a picket line that also included actors John Turturro, Jamie Oliver, Stephen Lang and Michael Cyril Creighton. Staying strong was a theme of speeches coming after negotiations between the Writers Guild and the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers appeared to collapse this week.

Jimmy Kimmel took a victory lap, sort of, on Tuesday’s “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” after Donald Trump ended up not being arrested earlier in the day.
You’ll recall that on Monday, Kimmel expressed heavy skepticism that such a thing would happen, and so it is on Tuesday he joked that due to the former president’s history of lying, “We should have known he wasn’t getting arrested the minute he said he was getting arrested.”
Quick reminder: On Saturday, as part of a larger All Caps rant on Truth Social, Trump claimed that he would likely be arrested on Tuesday as part of the New York investigation into the payments he gave to his ex-mistress, former porn star Stormy Daniels, to keep her from disclosing their relationship before the 2016 election.

If January sets the tone for any streamer’s year then 2023 is certainly going to be the Year of True Crime on Hulu. That’s right, Hulu’s list of new releases for January 2023 is highlight by several new true crime docuseries (and one charmingly goofy animated hero).
The true crime docuseries fest gets started with Death in the Dorms on Jan. 5. That will be followed by How I Caught My Killer on Jan. 12, and Web of Death on Jan. 19. The first is a six-episode series that will follow the real life case of murders at UCLA, while the latter two will both present several different stories.
It’s not just all true crime in January for Hulu. Jan. 9 sees the arrival of Koala Man, an animated series that envisions an Australian crime fighter of the same name. Also premiering is season 2 of How I Met Your Mather (Jan. 24) and superhero drama Extraordinary (Jan.

"Andor" continues to reaffirming itself as the best "Star Wars" project yet, from its stunning cinematography, prestige TV-level writing, exquisite cast, and thrilling story that somehow manages to be tense and unpredictable despite us knowing full well where it all ends up. Then there's the way the show explores the Empire and the Rebellion in a more nuanced way than we've ever seen before, from selling us on the evils of the Empire and their sadism (both subtle and brazen), and the lengths the rebels go to achieve freedom. Truly, this is the first time "Star Wars" has effectively laid out why there would be a civil war by the time of the original film.
After a fantastic heist episode, we now get an exhilarating and tense prison break episode that also serves to show the start of a revolution, the start of a Rebellion, and the start of Cassian...

This Star Wars: Andor review contains spoilers.
Andor Episode 10
Out of all contemporary Star Wars TV shows, Andor may end up becoming the most interesting rewatch. While the thrills and surprises in The Mandalorian are top-notch, those big moments (like Luke Skywalker going to town in “The Rescue”) don’t really make you feel like going back and watching previous episodes for context. Andor is the opposite. With episode 10, Andor has delivered a massive twist, but this surprise won’t be the thing you’ll want to rewatch. Instead, it will be everything leading up to it. Andor is a show about spies, and that means, with a twist like this, everything you’ve already watched has suddenly changed.
Although “One Way Out” will likely be remembered as “the one where Cassian finally breaks out of prison,” the bigger twist is all about a Rebel spy we didn’t know existed.
A producer on “Rust” is backing another independent film, “Sam & Kate,” starring Dustin Hoffman and Sissy Spacek, which is set to begin production early next year.
Ryan Smith is helping to finance the film, which is set to shoot in Thomasville, Ga., starting in mid-February. A source close to the project said that Smith is putting in a portion of the financing and will get an executive producer credit, but that he and his company will not be involved in physical production.
Smith, his business partner Allen Cheney, and their company, Thomasville Pictures, have been named in two lawsuits stemming from the fatal shooting on the set of “Rust” last month in New Mexico. Actor Alec Baldwin was preparing for a scene when he shot and killed cinematographer Halyna Hutchins and wounded the film’s director. The film has shut down indefinitely.

There are still so many unanswered questions as to what led to the devastating death of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins on the set of “Rust” — the most salient being how live ammunition got into the gun that killed her and wounded director Joel Souza.
Last week came the shocking revelation from an Oct. 27 search warrant affidavit that the film’s first assistant director, David Halls, acknowledged to investigators that he had failed to check the weapon for live rounds before handing it to star Alec Baldwin and declaring it a “cold gun,” meaning it was safe to fire.
In the aftermath of the shooting, there have been several press reports calling into question Halls’ reputation and conduct on previous sets.

David Halls, the assistant director on the film “Rust,” is speaking out regarding the shooting that killed cinematographer Halyna Hutchins and injured director Joel Souza.
In a statement to the New York Post on Monday, Halls — who handed producer and star Alec Baldwin the gun that discharged on Oct. 21, according to a police affidavit — said he hopes the incident causes the film industry to “reevaluate its values and practices.”
“Halyna Hutchins was not just one of the most talented people I’ve worked with, but also a friend,” Halls told the Post. “I’m shocked and saddened by her death. It’s my hope that this tragedy prompts the industry to reevaluate its values and practices to ensure no one is harmed through the creative process again.”
